Heya, I took a break from playing A2 late 2010 due to overload of playing it too much and I just installed it again this weekend, and I'm wondering if there are any must have addons that has either been updated or released as new since then that I may have missed. I'm mostly an aviator dude so I'm looking for anything in that area to improve the experience, but anything else goes aswell. I've gotten as far as getting these mods: ACE2 JSRS COSLX AircraftHUD Mando Missile Wings of Peace F-14D Supertomcat F/A-18 Super Hornet RAF Eurofighter Typhoon Anzac pack USS Nimitz RKSL bundle Thanks.

I've looked around for something like this but I couldn't find anything exactly like I was looking for, I know about the getPos and flyinheight commands but they won't exactly do the work I want. What I'm looking for is to change the default value of the altitude and speed of engagement. For example, I want to launch up ArmA 2, get into the editor, place a unit on the ground and have an A-10 spawn at 10000 feet and then dive to engage from 4000 feet, then climb up to 10000 feet again. Surely there must be something somewhere telling the aircraft to spawn at 300 feet (default) and the speed of engagement, or is that unavailable to the public? I'm guessing it's too good to be true, but hey..there are no stupid questions. :] I've got no clue of how to script, so little to any help is appreciated.

    I agree, but there are also those who cherish the mods but don't leave constructive criticism or positive comments, which is sad because it is a great moral booster. And thanks for giving him the permission to work on the jet, can't wait!

    I for one would love to see 6DOF entering the ArmA franchise, as flying is my favorite thing to do in Arma 2. There was an addon called Kegety's Armalib for ArmA that allowed 6DOF, whatever happened to it getting into ArmA 2 I have no idea. I've searched around and I've yet to find a thread about 6DOF on either armaholic or these forums, I made a post about it in the patch 1.53 suggestion thread, but figured I'd make a thread about it. Is it because it's not possible with the game engine? Is it because it's not desirable? Is it because people don't care? Is it because there are so few of us with TrackIr/Freetrack? It's such a small addition, but adds loads of fun and realism. It would not necessarily need to be restricted to aircrafts, but the vehicles that benefit from it. I would love to get some feedback on this.

  10. Yeah that was the issue, I had the old files in the Arma 2 folder aswell as in the OA one, it works lovely now :] The new handling and sound fits it so well, even though the loop of the sound can be heard quite easily.

If anyone would care to make a handling mod for the F-35 and the A-10 it would be appreciated, the F-35 can do 3 rolls in 1 second in ArmA 2 which is a little over the top of what the F-35 can do in real life..it makes me not want to fly it ingame, I would like it to be tuned downed ''a bit'', the F-35 has a roll rate of around 300 degrees per second. And the A-10 is a little more responsive in real life than in the game, if you chech out at around 3:20 you can see how rapid it can do a roll, it's all just small details..but hey, it's what makes the game what it is.

Voted for the prowler because I want more naval warfare and that it would bring a whole new feel to the game, and because I want the game to extend more in quantity at this point, I feel like the game fails to expand on different types of warfare, to me the aircraft of ArmA are more than the loadout it carries.

    I think the main problem is that the headtrack users are so scattered, every time someone makes a 6DOF thread it gets bumped down in the matter of hours. There's also a TrackIR 5 thread in the General section where a lot of people have been talking about wanting 6DOF, my guess is that BIS will include it in an expansion pack if at all in ArmA 2, ArmA 3 is probably a more realistic goal. Then again, who am I to know.

    Even though as good as the current AH-64D is, it's nice to see that more detail is wanted, another thread to be checking on a regular basis, good luck with the project.

  18. I'll try to explain a little more detailed what I want. I basically want all the jets standard flight altitude to be higher, same with the attack altitude and speed, as you probably know if I set the flyInHeight command to lets say 4000 feet (1200 meter, as shown in Arma) the aircraft still descents to the standard altitude of 300 feet before it engages any targets, and if there still are targets on the ground it doesn't climb back up to 4000 feet before all the targets are eliminated. Like Mr. Charles said earlier in this thread, I believe it's hardcoded into the game engine which means it can't be changed by the public, but only by BIS. If it was changed, I think watching a CAS from the ground would be a lot more unique than the typical 300 feet CAS we have in Arma now, instead of the aircraft wobbling around like a drunken irish because of the terrain it would smoothly pull up and continue circling at a high altitude until it has another target. One of the big reasons I play Arma is because of it's unique moments, and I think this change would greatly improve on the unique factor. This probably fits better in the Arma 2/OA Suggestion thread now.
  19. Actually, I want them to fly faster. CAS is supposed to be quick and deadly, get in, unload hell, get the hell out of there. Nothing like the lada flyby like the A-10 does in ArmA 2. :D

Sucks if it's hardcoded, as you said it's such a pain watching an A-10 coming in on a bomb run at 300 feet, sinking to 200 to drop the bomb..then sinking another 50 after the bomb has been dropped only to damage itself from the impact. To Myke, I think you misunderstood my post as another ''How do I set the aircraft altitude?'' but thanks anyway ;) At this point every aircraft can be shot down by rpg's when coming in on an attack run, I don't even think a single helicopter got shot down during Iraqi Freedom by an rpg.
