I have that effect in my OA. Do you have post processing at 'very high'? Maybe it's just my graphics card melting... EDIT: just to clarify, the effect isn't as prominent as can be seen in GTA San Andreas. You have to stand still and stare at scenery in the distance to notice it.

ArmA 2 will not start: Physical memory/page file error
NeoHazard replied to Lavallin's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
no problem. had the same issue myself when i was tooling with pagefiles. -
Yea seems like they're crumbling under the weight of modern technology over there. I mean, most of the time the graphics card isn't even doing half of what it should. Do they know what a graphics card is? Also, It's 2010, quad-core cpu's have been alive for years and we're still seeing problems with this program using them efficiently. It's kind of a failing system they have going on here.

2, get in that HMMVV at 12 O'Clock. ..... An idea!
NeoHazard replied to kremator's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
yea, I've noticed this too. It's super retarded when that happens. Seems like a bunch of random vehicles are priority too.... -
Another: I just had an easier time taking a tank out by myself and switching between driver and gunner positions all alone to clear out an area than I ever had with either me as a gunner with AI driving, or with me driving and AI gunning. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Perhaps BIS will come up with the solution of having a delay on seat position switching, HAH!! that would be hilarious. EDIT: OMFG! I JUST had this incident where I ordered a nearby AI to get into my tank in the streets of zarg so I could torture myself letting him drive for awhile.... and what does this moron do? He moves in nice and slow, taking his time making sure he has plenty of opportunity to get shot, THEN he goes into a building and works his way to the roof faster than any time I've ever ordered them to do it! THEN HE JUMPS OFF THE ROOF NEXT TO THE TANK AND BREAKS HIS MOTHER F***ING LEGS! LOL!

Aaaaaabsolutely! I for the life of me, am so tired of inching up to a doorway trying to fanagle a position in which allows me to use the lean function as it should be used in order to fire slightly around the corner without being bumped around only to end up a clear target for the opposition. Not to mention, if I want to get out of the way I have to back up at a rediculously slow speed because I can't turn around!
-
It's been more than aggravating to move through zargabads buildings with the current cumbersome nature of gun carriage. In order to turn around in a hall way I would have to manually lower the weapon with a click and then bring it back up as well. Most modern fps games have a detection system that automatically adjusts the guns position in hand when close to a wall by raising it vertical (even if it doesnt matter due the particular games movement restraint or lack thereof.) We really need an intelligent system like this to create a more fluid control of the virtual soldier in hallways for CQC. If I saw youtube war footage of a soldier knocking his rifle into the wall over and over like a psychotic fool trying to turn around for a retreat... then maybe I'd consider leaving the simulator this way. I haven't found that clip yet.

Here's a new one. I've been doing a warfare battle in zargabad and I have found myself alone in the town with one of the old ass ww2 military surplus tanks pursuing me. I for the life of me cannot evade this POS to get back to base. It follows me EVERYWHERE as I cruise behind walls and through buildings and all the way around the perimeter of the town and villages. I'm even using the 3rd person so I can see above walls and around corners to make sure I'm out of this things view and that no other spotters are around. Shouldn't it be hard to aquire lone infantry targets from this tank even in open spaces because of its lack of technology? It knows exactly what buildings I go into and bombards the crap out of them even if I'm buried in a mess of building 100 meters away.

Perhaps the animation for raising and lowering the weapon will move slower causing the turn to take a second longer due to the weight and length. The CQC bullpups will have more instantaneous animations allowing you to turn much faster.

Increased vehicle "turnout" functionality
NeoHazard replied to johncage's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I like that. I like when someone says that. :) Optimism is the blood of progress. -
No, you made that connection on your own. It is an incorrect connection as well. Most likely, one meant in spite toward me as to defend your pride-love of a product that I just targeted for substandard development aptitude. I enjoy this game thoroughly regardless of the current shortcomings. It seems like whenever I comment on the shortcomings on this board I get spammed by people who JUST LOVE IT SO DARNED MUCH THEY CAN'T STAND WHEN SOMEONE MAKES IT CRY! Anyways, seems to me like everyone is assuming the relationship between BIS and BIA. What do you really know about their cooperation? Do you know enough to really tell me what they can and can't share? Do you work for BIS? You can save your breath because I don't care about hearsay. Finally, here's how it works for us, in America at least. Let's say you purchase an automobile, a nice new computer processor or even a $30 blender. No matter the price, when one of these items doesn't work right on a large scale, the items get returned or need to be recalled. The responsibility of the company is to do a better job next time or it fails and doesn't make money, eventually closes. The reason your Arma sim isn't more popular and can't make the money to spend on better developers and engineers to create a better engine is that they keep failing at producing something that is attainable for an audience. An audience past the scope of diehards in this forum who have the stomach to put up with its problems. So yes, my money does entitle me to see developments in the engine because I didn't steal the game or borrow it, I PAID for it. I gave this company my donation. Watch, I'm going to get banned for speaking my mind ;) SOME COUNTRIES LIKE UNITED ELMO LAND AND FIDDLE FADDLE PROVINCES DON'T LIKE WHEN YOU SPEAK YOUR MIND! AHOOOOOOO!

Rock on road. How to delete?
NeoHazard replied to RazorX's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
this is nuts dude, I just noticed that rock a few days ago when i returned to the chernarus map.... I can't help you in deleting it, but I did find it funny that this thread just popped up. -
I honestly couldnt recommend this game to a friend because of all the bugs. If it was polished then people would probably flock to it by word of mouth.

quick simple startloc question
NeoHazard posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi all, I'm trying to make a warfare mission on the stock Arma 2 OA zargabad map because I want to put a few special bells and whistles into it for myself at the start point. I have the warfare module working fine. What I want to do is bypass the modules automatic starting location generation. I couldn't find and methods to create 1 static start location. I inserted the starting location game logic and synced it to the warfare module but thats a no go. I added a this startinglocation0 in the init field, but no go. How does one set just 1 starting location for the warfare module? -
I don't get that line of thought: "We don't have to get anything at all." Is it meant stengthen the appreciation of what we do get? Is that necessary? Certainly, I don't HAVE to spend my money on severely bugged entertainment software in order to fund the company that's creating it. However, I did... and seeing as how I did, I'd hope that I would see the progressive development of that software that portions of my money should be going toward IF that company knows what business is all about. I HAVE to pay taxes here... do I see much benefit from it... no. OnT: I would love to see this kind of development in vehicles. I've been pining to be able to truck the howitzer around. It definitely adds more tactics to what should be the king of tactics based war-sim-games. As well as the suspension recoil from weapon fire I mentioned in other threads. The suspension recoil could be the defacto interrupter for Aim instead of the camera shake effect.

lol, Arma people get VBS handmedowns. that smells.

ARMA 2: OA Beta 72716 is up
NeoHazard replied to =kct=blackmamba's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Don't real thermal monitors have adjustments for contrast and brightness? Can't we get on some of that with key bindings? I noticed using the m107 TWS was downright impossible with the new setup. I could barely make anything out on screen and once again I can't see where my shots land if I miss in order to get a new solution which had been remedied in a previous release. Can anyone who has actually(for reals) sniped with a thermal system confirm that you can see dust or smoke kicking up through those optics? -
Step-Over and Stand-Up are redundant
NeoHazard replied to polar bear's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I also noticed that when in a vehicle the "stand" and "step over" buttons are useless so I dual assign them to "get out" and "eject" for quick getaways... because trying to get to the "get out" selection in the ever jumbling action bar(where options are constantly flickering around like a lame programmer decided to crap on some code) is a pain in my butt. Anyways, I think these bindings should just be default. -
haha, yea I wish sometimes I hadn't viewed what i described above, but it seems more and more like my AI troops are forming some progressively bad habits. LIKE, CAFFEINE ADDICTION!
-
Yes, as in the other thread I agree. Just like an MMO like world of warcraft... takes a tedious bit out.

Let the AI take over for awhile
NeoHazard replied to polar bear's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
No, are you serious? You're going to complain about this? Some of us don't want to sit and stare blankly at a screen while having to traverse some 2000 meters to the next waypoint like you seem to enjoy. Then you go and comment about how you would like exactly the same thing, only in vehicles? Some wrong connections in there, buddy?
