In the light of the west's aggressive imperialistic actions and threats against the great free republic of Takistan, the people of this great nation have begun to prepare for the invasion and occupation by the imperial dogs of the west, lead by their puppet-master, the US. To this end, the citizens of Takistan have begun to form together, forced by the threats of the west against them, to create the freedom preservation group, Takistan Liberation Front. This group will fight against any invasion attempts made by the west, and their militaries. We will punish the west for every step they take in our great homeland! Individual insurgent cells are already being set up across the country under the single, unified banner of the Takistan Liberation Front.
What kind of squad is TLF?
TLF is a COOP community that is also involved in some PvP. We play as OPFOR, mostly as insurgents, but also as other more conventional OPFOR armies such as the Takistan Army. We also play as BLUFOR occasionally, especially on more informal nights.
We use tactics and procedures, which are standardised to work across all factions and armies. We take these tactics from real life militaries, and then adapt them for use in Arma 2. The tactics we use are simple but effective; you won't find us running around in an unorganised mass. We operate in squads, not running around seperately, and you'll rarely see us using even a single sniper. We aim to operate with around 25 people during our official gaming nights, using at least 2 or 3 squads.
Our rank system is practical and functional. We don't hand out ranks for the role-play aspect, or because we particularly like someone - ranks are handed out as and when they are needed as we grow or shrink in size. Our ranking systems translate directly into game play organisation, not role-play. You won't find a community full of Sergeants or Majors here, at any one time, only about 20% of our members hold any kind of NCO rank.
We don’t require our members to attend excessive amounts of training. Newly accepted recruits are put through a Basic Training course that lasts around an hour and teaches all of the basics you need to operate in one of our squads. We have additional training, but it isn’t necessary to attend these unless you want to, or we have a campaign coming up where we need to train a specific skill, such as air assault or mechanised tactics and drills.
What kind of missions do TLF play?
We have two game nights a week where we play a fresh new custom mission made for that night. We strive to make these missions as realistic and believable as possible. On these nights we mostly play as the Takistan Liberation Front, an insurgent group operating in Takistan. Sometimes we also play as other forces, like the US Army. Occasionally we will link several missions into a sort of dynamic campaign that develops as we play. On more informal nights we usually play missions such as Domination or Warfare.
Once we get some good relationships with other communities we are also going to try and get involved in some non competitive PvP or Joint Ops. If you are a community leader interested in having a fair fight against insurgent forces, contact us on our forum so we can work something out.
How do I join?
We recruit from all timezones, but we usually play at more European friendly hours. We do have a lot of American members.
