  1. Hi Everyone,

    Back from hiatus and am in a pickle, I bought the supporter edition through the BI store using my old sproketIdea account (associated with all my BI purchases). The problem is my forum account and my BI store account are on associated to different email addresses. I have tried merging them although it states that either the password is wrong (which they are not I have access to both the forums and the BI store profile) or that the email account is already in use by another user.

    I see from the OP that I was supposed to change the email addresses associated with these before the end of February, but I must have missed that memo.

    So how do I sort this out so that they are linked? I'm not too fussed about the supporter badge, that's not why I bought that edition. But I would prefer not having to start fresh.

    Can someone point me to the person whom I need to PM to get this sorted out? or what I can do?

    Cant wait to get back into designing & releasing more missions when the the full release is launched.


  2. I've never used any form of VR before, I would really love to test it out... but alas, I doubt I'll ever get a chance to do so at any brick and mortar store these days. I would imagine however, that Arma would be a perfect game to marry with the Oculus Rift.


  3. Vicarious, would it be ok with you for someone with the know-how to "fix" the 'instant assassination bug' and post it in your stead? This may be a possible solution to this bug until you get back to mission making.

    The first few seconds I get to play are the best I have spent in a while with that incredible atmosphere you created. I suppose I could continue on and do the extraction bit, but I would rather not spoil the meat of the mission. In any case, thanks for your awesome missions.

    Thanks mate!!. As I said in a previous post I give my full permission for anybody who wants to publish a quick fix for this mission, I would be happy to include them in the credits for the mission as well.


  4. He dies because he spawns without ammo, he tries to run of to the nearest crate to reload, falls of the edge and dies. The problem can easily be fixed by giving him ammo.

    The problem happens because the building is does not have any path finding for the AI, it falls back on natural movement, so it doesn't "see" the edge.

    This seems to me to be a viable reason. But as I stated earlier the mission was working fine when released so one of the recent patches must have broken it.

    I have been away from the arma scene for a while as i just finished studying and have just started a new job (which involves shift work) so i have been very busy I will eventually fix this mission, but i have no idea when.... if anyone else has the time and energy they could unpbo the mission and give him some ammo or a pistol or something to stop him from running and falling to his death. (it would be an easy fix) You could then release it with my full blessing and thanks, there's no problem there. Otherwise i will eventually get around to fixing it and updating all my missions, and releasing a few unfinished ones..... until the happy hunting gents...:cool:.

  5. any more sniper missions that were as well designed as operation cold bore? but actually worked?

    I've recently finished my studying so I'm currently in the process of updating all my missions (as well as releasing some new ones) and operation cold bore will be done as well. Also I may be adding a non-ACE version as well so look out for the soon ETA within the next 2 weeks.

    BTW the mission worked perfectly on it release, It was an update for either ACE or OA that broke the mission ;)


  6. Hey mate I thought you could use some feedback so here it is;

    First off let me say it was a great mission lots of fun (thats what counts!) and I love playing as OPFOR, so thats always a plus ;) here is a run down of what I thought were pros and Suggestions;

    Pros;

    - Nice intro

    - All triggers and objectives work properly

    - Good length (great for a quick takiban fix now and again)

    - Great mission location (rushing down that hill with tracers skimming overhead felt awesome)

    Suggestions;

    - Would have been nice to see a weapon selection in the briefing for some extra re playability)

    - I ran out of satchels/IED's and needed to use grenades to blow up the fuel depot so maybe some explosive's crates stashed around in case the player runs dry.

    - The fuel depot was completely empty with no US troops whatsoever, which felt a little too easy.

    - Mission did not check it self off as complete once I completed it.

    In case you were wondering I used the Zues AI mod and it played fine also it took me 32min to complete but prob would have taken around 25 if I didn't run out of satchels and had to go snooping around for some explosives.

  7. For us complete and utter n00bs, can someone please make a demonstration mission implementing the new BIS_fnc_destroyCity and BIS_fnc_sandstorm functions on the Zargabad map?

    I have read the information on the biki, including the part about checking if Functions was initialized, and other posts that have popped up talking about how to do it but just can't make it work.

    The above code yields no result for me, I can't get the text to display at all when trying it that way... I even changed _h back to SafeZoneH and still get no text at all, is something missing?

    Maybe if you could create a sample mission so i could compare what I'm doing wrong? only if you have the time of course, it would be much appreciated.


  9. I'm having trouble getting the BIS fnc 3d credits to work here is the synatax

    I think its to do with my syntax, any ideas? Oh and i already placed the function module on the map.

    P.S I'm not very advanced in the editor so please be gentle ;)

    Nope :), I just noticed that 3Dcredits seems to crash the game if "call" is used

  10. Hi guys, with the release of the new patch/PMC DLC I've been blown away buy some of the new features that really improve atmosphere... but I've been unable to unpack any of these new .pbo files associated with PMC so I cant see how these effects are implemented.

    I realize there is a thread already on the video playback features but was wondering if anyone has figure out how to implement these features yet;

    - new dust/wind effect with debris (noticeable in the first mission)

    - don't know what to call this but its the effect during the first mission, they implemented the credits in an awesome fashion where they where slowly fading in as you approached them in-game

    Also any other new tricks and toys that are found in 1.56 would be good to understand.

    BTW am I the only one who cant unpack the new .pbo's? I've tried using pboview and cpbo to no avail.

  11. As much as i love this community, i really hate seeing how negative people become when a new DLC is released. People quickly forget that we are still getting way more content than the majority of other companies release as DLC. Granted it's usually not without it's issues, but it's worth noting that the base-game of Arma 2 (pre-OA) still has more content than some games have in an entire series.

    I hate bringing it up, as it's an old comparison, but 3 maps for CoD for $15..

    For Arma we get a map, units, weapons, vehicles, campaign, engine improvements....Seriously people, just releax and enjoy the new content.

    They even deliver all that content, including the campaign, for free. How many other companies do this? Most of them essentially say "buy the DLC or stop playing MP".

    Keep in mind, nobody forced you to buy the DLC, and personally i pre-ordered it without even considering the content because i want to support BIS in anyway possible and keep the Armaverse fresh and alive. I'm sure i'm not the only one either.

    I would hate to think a few very loud individuals bitching about anything/everything they can think of might result in BIS one day saying they give up and then not bother to release anymore DLC or expansions in the future. I think we can all agree that wouldn't be a good outcome.

    To those complaining about the price - As it's already been mentioned, this is the price of one meal....If you seriously can't afford to spend such a tiny amount of $$$ on this DLC, maybe you need to get your priorities in order and instead of playing a video game, get a job.

    To those complaining about the size of the map - Yes it's small, so what?

    You are only ever limited by your own imagination, just because YOU can't think of a mission to be made on a small map doesn't mean there aren't people who can, and will, make good use of this.

    What about those who enjoy smaller infantry based missions, which don't require a 5-15min long journey inbetween action. (I don't mind those missions either, but it's nice to have smaller action-packed missions available too).

    Also consider the people with computers that barely handle Chernarus with one unit on the map - For them, these smaller maps are ideal.

    Now that i'm done defending the map - I agree that it is quite small, and i too would love a much larger map for the next DLC - Perhaps BIS should do as Enad suggests and take a few months before releasing the next pack.

    However i think if they were to work 3-4x as long/hard as they did on this DLC, and provide twice as much content and a larger map, they would be entitled to raise the price, which would no doubt piss off even more people than the current DLCs have done :rolleyes: Not sure they want to go down that route.

    Perhaps just hold off on DLCs and release another OA-sized expansion in the middle of 2011?

    Just a few thoughts..

    To those complaining about the quality of the videos/audio - You are more or less the minority here...Not saying the devs shouldn't attempt to help you, but there are alot of people, myself included, who have no issues with either and it's most likely a problem with your own PC hardware/software...Definitely not something worth jumping up and down and saying "I'm dissapointed BIS" over.

    And finally, to those bitching about the download speeds - The game is less than 12 hours old, did you really expect to get the fastest speeds with so many other people downloading at the same time?...Once again, calm down and just be thankful that you don't live in Australia. (my fellow Aussies know what i'm talkin' bout...)

    I do have to agree with the angry crowd about one thing though.

    The fact the entire DLC was more or less given away for free, isn't a very good move. I can easily see why people are pissed off that they paid money to basically get higher quality content. I like the idea of everybody having everything, but as someone suggested perhaps a teaser campaign for those who didn't buy the DLC would of been a better idea - That way those of us who did buy the DLC, can feel as though we got something for our $ rather than just having the feeling of being more financially supportive....

    I'm sure i'll still get quite a few angry replies from all that i've said - But just to save you all some time, PM me your abuse. I will be posting this and then getting back to work, so i won't bother to read any replies you post here...Plus it's easier to ignore them them all and just hit delete when they're in the inbox. ;)

    Finally - Thank you BIS for the continued support and additions to the game :) But in the future, please let those of us who supported you, get something unique/special for our support.

    As to BI I personally thank you for the DLC and I would gladly pay again for another DLC or any other work you put out for ARMA in the future, just to show that your ongoing support and dedication to the game justifies the price of any and all of your work to me personally.

    Excellent level of detail mate, I really appreciate your attention to detail. As for a suggestion, i have absolutely no modeling/texture knowledge but am wondering if you are going to implement or are thinking of implementing a changeable headgear system whilst in game? similar to what the AAW units have (being able to cycle through different helmets/beanies ect on the fly during a mission), I'm only curios and have know idea how much work that takes so I will understand if you guys aren't going to implement it.

    Looking fantastic mate, oh and take you're time there's no rush.


  13. Hey RH I don't know if you are already doing this or have considered it or have been just too busy but have you thought about updating the AK pack and maybe the SMG pack to OA to include zeroing and lasers/flashlights when applicable?

    Would be awesome to the the AK pack updated, but if you're too busy (or just don't want to, which i could understand ;)) I'm happy either way... you're weapon packs are the best!!! regardless if you update them or not, I', glad you released anything at all :cool:.


  14. I'm having a problem with the objectives for this mission. Right at the very beginning of the mission the target somehow dies and all I'm left with is the extraction.

    I have:

    ArmA2 CO/BAF DLC all with most recent official patches

    ACE2

    ACEX

    CBA

    Namalsk

    all with their most recent releases.

    What is causing Col. Kurtz to die at the start? Is anyone else having this issue with all the most recent official patches and addons?

    Hrmmm... are you running any other AI mods? if so disable them and try again. Also the mission was made quite some time ago and ACE has been updated quite a few time since the mission release so that could be the problem.

    Also it may be the new Arma patches have changed something... my only theory is that because the col. is spawned at a custom height using "setPos" a patch or ACE update may have caused him to spawn to low (falling to his death) or too high resulting in the same thing.

    I've been very busy and as such haven't been designing missions or playing much arma so I'm afraid i cant test this ATM. Although when i get a chance I'll give it a look. On the contrary it awesome to see people are still playing my missions!! I hope you can get it working mate :cool:
