Yeah, there are quite a few of those big servers out there running these missions effectively and in a coordinated way. But I always find it harder to enforce teamplay on those missions (for whatever reason) even if it is on our own server. But yeah, it's not as if these missions equal bad teamwork or anything, far from it. But usually the servers where a lot of lonewolfing is going on are running these missions, that's why I named them :)

That will definitely come in handy! I always see this when I join the server but never figured out how to actually make it happen when I wanted it to! Thanks :)

The single most rewarding way to have fun on Multiplayer is by joining a group of people (clan, squad, unit, whatever you want to call it) or at least become a regular on a server run by such a group. From my own not so very extensive experience, those big public servers running Warfare or Evolution every day all day don't have much going on in the way of teamwork. Better to join a more organised group of people (inconspicuously points to his signature) to get some more teamwork going on as well as communication and coordination. All the good stuff, basically. :)

SR/CTV Community event 2010 - Gamers vs Soldier Reloaded
Von_Lipwig replied to jerryhopper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yep. Many of the skills within the game are still twitch-related. If you play the game often, most things you do will go into muscle-memory, while actual soldiers have the same muscle-memory but for different movements; instead of moving the mouse a little they would aim their actual rifle. Sure, they might have sound tactics but players who often play in a PvP environment (especially from the ArmA community, who are often military fetishists or ex-forces themselves ;) ) will have that too, and in that case gamers are very likely to win. Like ED says though, it would be interesting to see though how CoD players would fare against soldiers while playing ArmA. :p -
MP JIP players spawning mid air above LHD
Von_Lipwig replied to Talyn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Quoted from another forum I answered this same question at: OK, please note: I THINK this is it. I little experience with having an LHD as starting/spawning point and I hardly ever use the setpos command, but I think this is what is happening. I seem to remember that infantry units will always spawn on the deck of the LHD while vehicles will spawn under it on the bottom of the sea (yarr). Just take out the init line in the infantry's init fields and see what happens. Even if it doesn't work, you'll at least have eliminated an option ;) -

Driving over a small rock is still catapulting you in the air?
Von_Lipwig replied to bionicman303's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
True, to be fair, I never noticed it on Chernarus or Utes. :) Just watch out when you're in Takistan! -

Von_Lipwig replied to bionicman303's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
We regard rocks in OA still to be among our most dangerous enemies. Many a vehicle has capsised and many a person has been launched by or stuck on a rock. They still pose a considerable threat to pretty much anything. The only consolation is that the AI enemy seems to have the same problem. -

The Base respawn would be good under ideal circumstances; that is, if the First Aid modules wouldn't bug out the second you respawn as well as the enemy becoming unresponsive due to a setcaptive bug. This goes for any kind of respawn though I guess, except of course Norrin's revive script as it completely skips the first aid modules and includes its own system (and the same probably goes for the ACE scripts but I wouldn't know about that; never played on ACE). If the first aid modules would be fixed at some point, or respawning in general really (ie more integrated into the game, perhaps the same way the artillery works now: First Aid module should perhaps be on by default and you can turn it off mission-side for all units or selected/named units), then respawning in any form would be greatly improved. As it stands, respawning always comes with a certain degree of annoyance because you know things will start not working properly anymore.

Switching seats/taking over controls in helicopter
Von_Lipwig posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I was wondering, is there a way to script it so that a person in the copilot seat could either A) take over controls when the pilot gets killed or B) switch to the pilot seat when the pilot gets killed? Or maybe just to open up all seats on the helicopter so a pilot could also switch away from the pilot (while he is alive ;) ) seat and have a copilot take over (this would of course take some good communication from the pilot as otherwise the copilot would be unaware of the switch and the heli would go down in a ball of flames. Is this in any way possible or will the copilot always be more or less useless? :) (btw, I did sort of look through the forums and with google but couldn't find any answers. If any threads about this already exist, just point me to those ;) ) -

=NF= The Naked Fanatics
Von_Lipwig replied to Von_Lipwig's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
Hello again! It has been a while since we last updated this thread, and as a result we have quite some news to share! First off, I am happy to welcome quite a few new regulars to our server and forums. Our server is now more populated on a regular basis, making for larger and generally more fun games. It enables us to play larger missons and actually fill up a good number of slots. However, we still have plenty of open slots left on the server and anyone's welcome to fill them up! (in fact, if the server will ever max out on a regular basis, we will increase the amount of server slots to meet the increasing demand. We actually hope that we will have to do this at some point!) EDcase: "I found my favourite Arma group." Rone [TAO]: "was really cool to play with these guys. Teamplay, no respawn vehicle, like in the old days that youngsters cant understand unfortunately" --- Apart from new players, we have also been pumping out a great number of new videos, showcasing our style of play and of course a providing us with a source of discussion and reflection on how we did, and a view on the battle from another person's perspective! Taking the Oil Field - Playing "Free Embassy" - Mechanised Infantry Training p1 - p2 - p3 - p4 - p5 - Rasman Beaten! p1 - p2 - p3 - Motorised Infantry Training - Patrol through Timurkalay - Motorised Infantry Training 2 p1 - p2 - p3 - p4 - p5 - Dark PvP - PvP Scenes, and "The Last Patrol" - Air Cavalry Training p1 - p2 - p3 - Air Cavalry Training 2 p1 - p2 - A Bad Day in Zargabad - Firefights Series #1 - #2 - #3 - #4 - #5 - Some Fun Brit DLC - But the biggest news is that of the Bald Eagles: our very first in-house squad. This unit operates within the Naked Fanatics clan, and will be focussing solely on ArmA. The group will accept members and non-members of the Naked Fanatics alike; our doors are open to everyone. You can find more information about the Bald Eagles here. This means that you can become a memnber of the Bald Eagles before (or without ever) becoming a member of the Naked Fanatics. --- The Naked Fanatics offer: - A tight-knit community of friends that play a variety of games within a variety of genres - A ventrilo server - An ArmA2 OA server - A lively and active forum - Lots of fun and games! - A relaxed gaming environment - A forum section dedicated to ArmA The Bald Eagles will offer, in addition: - Membership requirements that are easier to attain than those of the Naked Fanatics - A seperate usergroup on the forums - A seperate forum section - Regularly updated threads with tactics, feedback and discussion to improve our performance - Training sessions of varying subjects, ranging from Aviation, to Motorised and Mechanised Infantry and Special Forces operations - Semi-regular editing classes - Any help you need in installing some client-side addons that will enhance your gaming experience - A fun and comfortable gaming environment Eventually, the Bald Eagles also want to get a seperate, modded server (new islands, possibly ACE and ACRE) to provide more variety and realism. This is still pending execution, there will be more news on this! --- If you are interested, don't hesitate to drop by on our forums and say "Hi"! The forums: http://www.nakedfanatics.com The ArmA Section: http://nakedfanatics.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=42 The Bald Eagles Section: http://nakedfanatics.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=50 Looking forward to seeing you on the forums and in game! :D -

WeGame is a solid recording program. The quality isn't as good as Fraps' but it does the job just fine for the less demanding people I guess. :) The only problem I've had with it, is sound tends to desync after longer periods of recording. Personally I use Fraps, and bought the full version of it. Very good program too.

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Von_Lipwig replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I love the new units and vehicles, but the sounds are horrid! Nothing a sound mod can't fix though, so I'm eagerly waiting for one. :) I'm expecting to have a lot of fun with this though!
