  2. Since it's my pic that was used as an example I have to say, that the carrier in that screen was about 13-15km off the coast of Chernarus. Placing it so far off the actual map causes some visual weirdnes. In this particular one the front of the flightdeck is invisible. The LODs of the F/A-18F are always the same though. Didn't test it on a landbase yet but I will check it out. Viewdistance is 10km.

  3. Well it's not THAT much different with Arma 2. 10km VD doesn't mean you know every unit on the map even if you're high enough to oversee the whole map. The radar only shows units up to a certain range and object draw distance is lower than 10km.. I'm sure BIS will not make one type of unit so strong that it will instantly control the whole island once airborne; also 400km² of landmass is almost twice as much as Chernarus.

  4. The An-225 has awfull performance above 550kph on chernarus @10kVD (1-2fps vs 20-30fps when flying slower). @6K VD I have constandly 25+fps no matter what speed I fly. So In my case the high graphic settings were the main reason but there is also something about the An-225 addon I did't encounter with any plane before. I usually always use 10k VD when I fly around in A2...

anyway enough off-topic (sorry for that ;) )

  5. My SSD was about 4 months in use when I moved Arma 2 to it (must have been oktober/november 2009). What often happend with Arma 2 on the HDD was that in Chernogorsk or Elektrozavodsk I had horrible problems with LODs and textures not/slowly loading which brought the fps down to 1-5fps for a moment. This was completely gone (well some textures/LODs still didn't load at that time lol) after moving Arma 2 to the SSD. But the game was not as optimised back then as it is now. So I doubt that the impact of a SSD is still so dramatic.

  6. Overall you don't get much more fps with a SSD. What it can do besides the points you listet is reduce stutter that doesn't affect the fps shown by fraps or whatever you use. When I moved Arma to my SSD it only gave about 2-3fps more (I guess because it could load LODs and textures faster) but the game felt much more responsive and that nasty stutter was (almost) gone. Also I could increase the viewdistance A LOT. Even 10k viewdistance on Chernarus is playable in small bombing/air2air missions

  7. I find that weird because I can't see any difference between this addon and any other fighter jet (BIS or addon) in terms of performance. Of course this could be because my Arma 2 folder is installed on a SSD but there are other planes that have bad performance above a certain speed (i.e. the An-225 Addon). You can see a slight stutter in my Video but that's due to fraps and rather insane graphicsettings ...

  8. JDog, can you make the tailhook work when you start from an airbase or spawn airborne? As of now you don't get the option to lower the tailhook in that situation thus making landing on the Nimitz a gamble, especially when there is other stuff on the flightdeck und you can't use the whole length of the ship.
