The Unsung Vietnam Mod 3.0 WIP THREAD
bars91 replied to sgt_savage's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I think ponds were fixed either on dev or even latest main patch w tanx dlc -
IMHO SuperHind is what Mi-48 should have been (same for Medium lift (not)Huey from ToH as AAF tac helo instead of the (uglyfied)Lynx)

PAK-FA (T-50) AddOn: Work in Progress

Man! That CSAT gear sure puts down alot of movie prop-costumes (even some of the expensive ones). Literally one step from WETA Workshop props. -
Doing air-to-ground w an interceptor be like...

Yeah, I get that))) Fun fact: BTR-90 from Arma2 would be actually fairly "appropriate". It was a prototype and stuff, but it eventually was a basis (among other KamAz/Ural experiments) for the K-16 APC and K-17 IFV Boomerang platform systems. The unmanned IFV 30mm/ATGM turret mount is actually compatible w older turret mounts (BMP-2, BTR-90) EDiT: BMP-2M manned turret mounted on K-17 and on BTR-90

All good and well (esp jets)! But IFV/SPAAG is belorussian and 6x6 APC is turkish

*writes in BI logic "But, but exploding cars are not nukes."
-
CV-90 is actually perfect for both a modern high-mobility "medium" tank AND an advanced heavy IFV. CV90120-T 120mm equipped tank CV90 Mk4

While I'm very much a realism person, I disagree on having russian faction as a valid point in this argument. CSAT just gives more creative freedom to mix stuff (like is currently the case in modern combat zones other then RU/US involved). Also, while I enjoy mods like RHS and VTN, I'm just generally tired of shooting M4A1s and AK74s while trying not to get blown up by an M1(insert cold war/current mod number) Abrams or T72Mwhatever for the millionth time in gaming history.

Which would be literally useless without a towing function. In modern (and future?) combat, static arty is dead arty. That being written, a Gorgon(?) based heavy mortar carrier for AAF conventional support role would be a nice "common ground" between the infantry mortar and the 230mm MRLS.

This! IRL US Paladins are (at least theoretically) capable of being used as WW2-style tank-hunters (the bigger stick approach) w. appropriate rounds.

Spin Tires, but with actual gameplay and purpose. Oh, and make it mid-late 80s/early 90s (your M16A1/A2s, G3s, FALs and such) about some fictious "post-soviet power vacuum brawl" or "generic african bush war". Realistic retrowave so to speak. It's awesome nostalgia for us "older" gents and cool kids love that stuff too. You'll sell boatloads of it. Make purposeful, iterative and modular AI system as well. That won't hurt fo sure.

Speakin of which... can we finally get tank barrel collisions to make urban combat in tanks an extreme PITA it is IRL?
-
Or just have gunner/commander 1p view (not in optics) connected to the same "1p free look" as driver/pilot (same togglable default in options)
-
All the Vanilla tanks have ammo storages that prevent such behavior. The "flying turret syndrom" on soviet armor was due to auto-loader ammo being stored right below the turret. So in the event of extreme ammo cookoff the turret would take off due to concentrated blast and (in case of older models) paper-thin upper hull armor.

*subtle market research

Arma 3 is actually (no joke) fast becoming late-90's-retro-cyberpunk with it's portrayal or "future tech". FCS/scopes/HUD basic implementation and all. P.S. now I have to re-watch Alien (aand maybe Blade Runner 1982)
-
Just like the movies: we have the space ship "Whatsitfvck-9000" and all the electronics still emit "computing" sound when operated

Shame. Would be real useful to have AMAP-ADS for Kuma, Trophy for Slammer and Drozd-2 for Varsuk. Active defense systems are becoming mainstream even today...
-
Aren't those the "heavy" ERA panels? I mean it's not like they are buoyancy modules since Leo2 don't swim...

Tanks - Armored vehicles customization
bars91 replied to kllrt's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Some feedback and a small wishlist: -T100 Varsuk needs rear projection SLAT armor option *for inspiration -Strider, Ifrit and M-ATV are ought to have the same options since they effectively are LAR - Light Armored Recon, so thermal/visual camo is a must + SLAT option for urban/COIN ops. *some inspiration -
Been messing around in both Virtual Garage and 3DEN. Kuma seems to have no ERA visualisation - shot one ERA block w 3 RPG-7 rounds - no damage to both ERA and Kuma itself.
