  1. My top weapon picks? Basically' date=' everything from RobertHammer - I haven't looked much into more weapon packs (I did use some but many were flawed in one way or the other and I didn't quite like the overall "feeling" of how some weapons were ported or modeled) - ACE2 adds so much stuff already (and will also ensure that the weapons used have consistent sound effects!); actually, one of the biggest problems we face in our multiplayer coop sessions is the people "shopping" for weapons in ACE2 weapons crates right after the mission starts - some people really take several minutes to decide :-P

    [/quote']

@The D, I understand. Yes it can be a daunting task especially when you are equiping an entire team! One thing that I would like to see in a future release of the guide (since it is not included for many weapons, especially ACE) is weapon descriptions and comparisons. When choosing a weapon for a mission I basically just look at what accessories I want like ACOG, Grenade Launcher, and SD. But as far as choosing between an MK16, M4, SCAR, ACR, or Masada. I really have no idea what the difference between the weapons are. So far all I have really been able to tell just from experimenting is that the SCAR-H seems to be the most powerful and most accurate of the assault rifles. Short descriptions of when the weapon was developed and for what purpose it is usually employed and what its benefits and drawbacks are would really make having such a large selection of weapons so much more enjoyable.

  2. Hi There,

I have ACE2 installed with ArmA2, I can play ACE2 enabled missions fine, however some ACE functions are not working like if I goto Gear it does not display my total carrying weight, also if I take for example ear plugs, I do not have the option to equip them when I scroll my mouse wheel, the Spotting Scope I am able to select and place on the ground, but when I "get into it" I am unable to actually look into the scope and use it, another problem which is a bit of a biggy, is that I do not get the Eject command in Choppers and Planes, which is a bit of a stuff up when doing a HELO insertion mission as I cannot jump out.

The funny thing is that I gave all my ACE folders/mods to a buddy of mine and he has it set up exactly like me and his works without a problem.

    What I have tried:

Updated ACE2 via Six Updater. Completely downloaded ACE2 from scratch from Dev Heaven via the manual method. Reinstalled Arma2. Then completely reinstalled Windows - (not directly because of this). I have run the shortcut as administrator. I have added my exact ingame name into the userconfig file in ACE.

I have done the whole target line thing -mod=@blah ect.

I am really not sure what else to do here. Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

Your userconfig files need be located in arma 2\userconfig\ace not in arma 2\@ace\store. Also the userconfig files have to be extracted (they do not need to end in .tar)

  3. Anyone else having trouble with the SLX wounding system? It seems whenever I use the SLX Wounds and a character team member dies the other team members fail to report this to me, and also I can swith to that charecter even though they are dead. This is very bad when the main character get injured and I swithc to a teammate who is dead then the main character dies. It essentially cause a game ending bug/kill screen per say. I can not hit escape to bring up the menu or anything the game will not end I am just stuck looking through the eyes of a dead man and must ctr alt del to exit game.

  4. Hey, I was wondering if you guys noticed that this mod messed with JTD. The smoke wont work like JTD smoke anymore.

You know I didn't really notice or miss the smoke (slows my computer down too much anyway) but I think you may be right. Try disabling the special FX part of GL4 in the user configs. If the smoke comes back then we can try narrowing it down further to figure out which GL4 sepecial effect is disableing the smoke.

---------- Post added at 03:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:29 PM ----------

Has anyone had trouble with GL4 causing missions to end early, since the 1.07 patch. Ever since I updated to 1.07 missions and/or tasks complete before I even do anything. Usually with in about 30 seconds to 1 minute of starting mission, but sometimes later on. If I turn of GL4 the mission plays fine. Have triedon multiple missions in different campaigns. I think all the missions were had clear out/ kill all enemy objective though. Don't know if that matters or not just FYI.

If anyone else has or had this same problem or knows of or has read of a solution plz let me know. Thanks.

Also I had the same problem in Operation Arrowhead I think. Don't know for sure cuz I hadn't completed the mission before but it seemed like it ended in a strange unfinished spot. It was the first scenario and I was ordered to Return to Base and before I even got in Hum V to leave the area the mission ended saying I had completed all objectives.

  5. If I use the SLX Wounds PBO I almost always die after receiving only a single shot? Also people I shoot tend to die and are rarely injured they just fall over dead with no chance to heal them. Also I have a real hard time understanding how all the different wound and medical systems available from different mods and from vanilla arma2 work or dont work together. Does anyone know how ace wounding is affected by SLX. Also if I want my medic to always be able to heal people fully regardless of how much medical equipment he has, like in vanilla ARMA2 but for the other characters to only be able to heal fully when using ACE medical equipment, and then once out of equipment only be able to do the first aid if this is somehow possible?

Finnally can someone please just kinda tell me how the SLX wounding works so I will know if I want to mess around with getting it working or not I would appreciate it.

  6. The "bipod/ rest weapon" action is not showing up in the self interaction menu. I thought it was just due to the campaing mission I was playing but then I switched to a different mission where I know I used bipod previously, and now can say for sure that my bipod isn't working. Also when I start a mission in the briefing I get an error about now being able to fin BIN/User Config.bin/RH_HK_53 or something like that.

I am using the latest ACE version from Six Updater as well as the latest CBA version from six updater and patch 1.07.

All help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I really miss this feature and don't have enough bullets to play without it.

  7. Is anyone else having trouble using bipods? In my ACE interaction menu there is no "Rest Weapon/ Deploy Bipod" command. Does everone else have or not have this? Will a couple of you let me know either way so I can know if there is something wrong with my game or if it is just the way the mission is designed. Thanks.

  8. Arma 2 1.07 is more advanced in some terms than OA (basically, in terms of multicore performance, memory management and file handling, OA is closer to A2 1.05 than A2 1.07). Why? It is very simple: 1.07 has reached relatively stable state only days ago so there was no chance to include this in OA for release.

Or course, we are working to merge all the new improvements in core engine to OA as soon as possible.

I duno if OA is LAA or not, but I have not yet experienced a out of memory error on it yet, and I feel safe betting that I won't. I previously had a constant battle against these out of memory erros and their CTD companion, until the problem was finnaly solved with patch 1.07. So if I am not having the memory erros in OA than the problem has likely been fixed for OA.

I think for one, to make the characters more believable is to actually get rid of the cliche sayings heard in the game and as NFO said, inventing crazy characters as well would not be realistic. I think first, they should get good voice actors and actually talk with current members of the US Army and just interact with them, hell maybe if they permit, kind of shadow an active duty officer through day to day duties on and off the battlefield to give the writers a more solid and believable inspiration to create dialogue.

I agree. If they could have the gameplay of ARMA2 and the story/ quality of presentation, dialog, voice acting of Call of Duty Modern Warfare then it wouldnt just be immersive gaming it would be suck you into the battlefield and not let you go gaming!

  9. ACE Wound module does not need any syncing. Just put it on the map in the editor and it's done.

You can then write additional variables manually. I'd really recommend actually reading the documentation before asking, since the ACE devs have written the documentation for a reason.

Lastly, ACE Wounds is disabled by default not to break missions not designed to use it.

    What documentation?

---------- Post added at 11:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 AM ----------

    Use self interaction menu

the one on the right side of the keyboard, near ctrl near windows key

is the userconfig you edited at Arma2/Userconfig/Ace folder, if not edit it there

make sure you didn't accidently edited the example

Open the game to the mission you want to use these on, and in the briefing click on Units and check to see what the name of unit 1 is. (the characters name). Now go to exit out of mission and go to profiles. Create a new profile with the same exact name as that characters name you just checked, and select to play with that profile. Now exit game. Go to arma2 directory/ userconfigs/ace/ace_clientside.hpp or something like that. In that file down towards the bottom it has a spot for //name= remove the "//" from in front of name and after the equal symbol enter the same name you created your profile as. (note: If you need to access this new profile file to make adjustments it is located in my documents/arma 2 other profiles/.

You probly wont see the suggestion to create a new profile name matching the characters name elsewhere, but I could never get these features to work either than did this and boom now they are working so I can confirm that this in fact does work..

  10. Do you have the ACE2 Wound System Module on your map/mission? The Modules are available by hitting the F7, F8 or one of these keys in the Editor. It needs to be placed on the map in order to be able to heal. Everything should work if it's placed.

I didn't realize the medic system wasn't on by default. Or maybe it is and just was removed by the mission maker of the missions ive been playing. Anyway, what other modules should I use in conjunction with ACE Wound system Module? Also who all on the map do I need to sync the module with. For example I don't want to have to put medical supplies in all of the enemies' gear in order for them to be able to heal themselves. (this would just take to long) So is there a way for them to use the default healing system and for my guys to use the ACE module?

  11. Great mod, but I would like to have crosshairs enabled. Is there a pbo I can delete to be able to have the crosshairs back?

You can re-enable crosshairs by removing // in front of the line ACE_Crosshairs or something like that in the ACE Clientside user config file found in the arma2 directory under userconfigs. IF you dont have that folder copy and paste the Userconfig folder from inside the @ace folder into your main directory.

What I personally do is reenable the crosshairs using above method then I use a mod called minimal crosshairs. The mod replaces the standard crosshair with one that is much wider so you still have to use your sights for fine aiming but you can use the crosshair to get pointed in the general direction.

  12. Well Sickboy you were right. I had to create a new profile and name it Specter then go into the ACE User Config and change the name in there to Specter as well, and now I can use glasses, goggles, hearing aides, and face lifts its awesome!!! No for real though that fixed it.

Only problem though is that by creatng a new profile yuo lose all your customize key mappings and setttings. And in the ARMA2 folder in mydocuments there is ony 1 file for my original profile and no file for the new profile I created which wouln't be too bad, but I have spent alot of time getting all my keys mapped and my joystick and everything set up the way I like it and without a profile file for the new profile I cant copy those settings over, but oh well.

So if any others are having trouble getting the ACE goggles to work check while your playing a game and when you issue a command the subtitles or whatever should display your profile name, well if they are displaying something else like "Specter" for example you will need to create a profile with that name and change your ACE Userconfig to use that name as well.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now the only remaining problem I have with ACE is getting the medic system to work. It lets me examine people, and it shows me a hint in the top left corner as to what is wrong with him etc. But after I click examine it will give you a list of about 4 items which I assume would heal the player. Well I had two of those 4 items in my inventory, but when I click examine the items in the list are all greyed out and I can not select them. However I can just use the mouse wheel to bring up the context sensitive actions list and select heal. But when I do this it doesnt use any of those medical supplies I carry around.

Does the ACE medic/wounds/healing mod needed to be activated/set up in the mission or should it work on all missions regardless just so long as you have the mod loaded?

What is the name of the healing/woundng/medic/examine/medical item sytem for ACE. I looked throught the rpt file (which what got me started on the road to fixen the goggles) but I saw nothing in there on the healing system, but I wasn't real sure what word to search for.

As always any help is much appreciated.

  13. What mission are you playing? It's may be setting it's own profile name. Balota Highway does this and earplugs don't work.

Changing the profile name to Spector should work as well.

I have been playing the Seal Team 6 campaigns by Sick1. I asked him if he was you. He isn't. Suppose you already knew that though. Anyway yeah those campaigns is pretty much all I have played. ( I got ARMA2 when it first came out, but I couldn't get it to run faster than 20-30FPS on my rediculous monstrocity of a computer, and it constantly crashed) so I said skrew it and put it away until about a month ago, and didnt even bother trying to play the vanilla campaign after my previous experience with it and just downloaded all the SealTeam Six campaigns by Sick 1. Which are pretty good and alot of em stay off of chernerus which is the island/map that crashed most on me. (But with the new patch and the few betas right before it came out alll my crashing problems (out of memory erros) have stoped:yay:.

AndI think your right about changing my Profile name to Spector will have to test it out. It seems thought like he would make your profile name compatible with the ace features in his missions cuz ACE and ACEX are both required addons for most of the seal team six campaigns.

I will try changing profile name to spector and if that solves it then I will let him know, and u as well.

Cheers :) No need to redownload everything though, all built-in features of the Updater (Verify, Repair/Heal that is).

    Please see: http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater_Suite+Usage#Reset%20'skip'%20status

I checked out all the options under "Action" on Six Updater and didn't see any for: Verify, Repair, or Heal or anything like that. Just saw update or install, clean-up, uninstall, reset, process keys, and process userconfigs. So I duno what the deal is there.

    THanks for the help!

  14. Please make sure all components are up2date, especially CBA.

The http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/RPT file contains the versions currently used and should contain hints as to if the userconfig part is correct or not.

(Best to read from bottom, upwards, after a clean startup)

Perhaps other errors are visible in the RPT as well.

Re the Medic system, there's 2 interaction buttons, but perhaps you mean the "interact with others" instead of self interaction.

I've just verified this in latest build, and seems to work as it should.

@Sickboy. Here at the two lines from the RPT file which reference the ACE Googles and why they are not working. But I dont really understand what I should do to fix it.

0:20:03.227 (0:00:00.000) [x\ace\addons\sys_goggles\XEH_postClientInit.sqf:20] WARNING: Initializing... FAILURE! Please check your ACE userconfig. ACE Goggles feature has been disabled on your computer!

My player profle name is Landon and that is what is entered in the ACE userconfig flile. It it saying tha I should change my Profile Name to specter?

I am not sure about the medic system as far as which button I was hitting, but I do know I got the hint in the top left corner of the screen. So it seems I am using the correct key. As far as having everything updated goes I use six updater to keep ACE and CBA up to date, so I don't think that is it either.

Maybe though I have a corrupted file or something though, so it appears to six updater everything is on the up and up when really its not? I think I am going to redownload ACE2 and CBA to make sure.

Where would be a good place to download the newest ACE2 files? (I don't want to use six updater to install the entire mod, seems like it would be better to just use it for updating)

Also, I see in the six updater mod list a mod called @six. What is that mod? I have tried searching around, but I can't seem to find a description.

@Sickboy-Thanks for your concern, support, and contributions to this game and its community...mad respect.

  16. It looks like we finnaly have a real viable solution to the out of memory errors!:yay:I have been using the 7 series beta builds for about 2 1/2 days now and have not seen 1 out of memory error. Usually I would see about 2 an hour or even more depending on what map I was playing on and the mission. Invictus is right that the page file is the main culprit behind the out of memory errors. But if you were using the 1.05 patch you couldn't let windows manage the size of the page file on its own or you would get the out of memory error. One thing you could do was manually set the page file to 1.5 times the amount of RAM you have or greater. Only problem with this in my experience was that the game would start running pretty slow once you hit the amount of time/the area of the map that would have previously crashed the game. Sometimes even the entire screen would go black and the game would say "receiving...".

It is important to noet that if you are running a 64 bit OS with 4GB or more of RAM and the new 1.07 patch or one of the new 717xx beta's than you DO NOT nee to use the -MAXMEM=2047 or -WINXP parameters. I repeat you do not need and should not use these parameters! The improvements in the new patch allow your game to use more than 2GB of RAM by making the EXE largeaddressaware so if you use the maxmem command you are shooting yourself in the foot.

  17. So anyone else having the same case that nevertheless of this is set, one can't put in earplugs, put on glasses, balaclavas, ect...? Or any conflicting addon?

Yes, I have tried everything I can think of but I can not get the goggles to work. I have entered my profile name exactly as it appears in the game into the clientside user config file in ARMA2\userconfig\ace folder, and yes I did it on the sencond entry not on the example one. I have tried just doing my name, and I have also tried doing my name along with the other stuff like face=, voice= etc. that I copied from the ARMA2.profile file, and never the less as you would say it still does not work. I bring up the self interaciton menu and goggles> is greyed out even when I have stuff like earplugs in my inventory.

The only thing I can think is that maybe I am not actually playing as that player profile (even though it is the only one I have) or maybe the mission has to enable the goggles somehow as well? I don't know any help would be appreciated. I have never played a multiplayer match with this profile name, could that have something to do with it? Like maybe your profile doesn't really get fully set up til you play multiplayer--this is pure speculation/guessing I really don't know why it wont work.

Another issue I have always had with ace is the healing/wound/medic part of ACE2. I can examine people and I get a hint in the top left corner such as "he is bleeding" but in the self interaction menu where you click examine, and then it shows a list of the medical supplies you are carrying they are all always greyed out, and I can not select or use any of the medical supplies. Anyhelp with this would be appreciated as well.

  18. hi!

In first I want to say that this mod is very good, i like this job!

but i have a problem to create a video about arma 2...a bleu message appears in start of mission and its too ugly to make a film....

consequently i want to suppress this message but i can't do it...its would be nice to you to help me... thank you!

You can disable this initialized message in one of the user config files.

  19. @Thomas

Many of us with performance issues have good PC's. For example I have a intell i7-965, 6gb of performance DDR3 memory, and 2x GTX260 in SLI. That is a pretty good rig but ARMAII is demanding and doesn't always make full use of your system resources. And if your looking for something else go get a mod or buy operation arrowhead, a patch is guess what a patch it is suppose to fix what is already made not provide new content. Man if anyone needs to leave its you.

  20. A modified game executable will activate FADE sooner or later.

And I run ArmA2 on Win7 x64 (6 GB) for several hours a day and never had any out of memory errors nor crashes.

Just curious do you have an ATI or Nvidia card? Just curious. I really dont know why some people experience the out of memory errors and others do not. But if you dont believe it is a common problem just type in ARMA2 out of memory into google or these very forums. Search for ARMA2 memory leak as well if you just like seeing all the posts about it lol. But yeah I think BIS is finnaly staritng to pay some attention to this problem as indicated by their last beta patch 71548 with the increase the cache file size, for systems with more than 4GB of RAM (64bit OS's).

As far as FADE goes I hope your wrong for my own sake. But it has been two days now and nothing too odd has happened while playing, that is nothig that I can't write off as just the usual bugs or mods acting up. But in those two days I have had 0 out of memory errors. Although I have had 2 appcrashes (CTD') dont know the cause of. Probably the modified exe. But still that is better than I usually do. So if I really have unlimited installs I will just keep uninstalling and reinstalling then patching the exe to be LARGEADDRESSAWARE until FADE kicks in cuz that is better then relaunching every 30 mins cuz of an out of memory error. Or turning all settings down to very low just to get by a town without crashing, and just keep my fingers crossed that they fix it in the next beta.

  21. this mod is based on what people would really use and wear in a post-apocaplyptic scenario, the whole futuristic and "badass" thing is up to the Conspiracies mod to make, its all very nice and they do look cool and badass, but it's not what I'm doing.. my inspiration commes from movies like, the road, the postman and A boy and his dog..

I am going to make a few gas-masks.. but they will be used for only a few units a wasteland warrior to make him look a bit more scary and perhaps some special units for the new order.. but if you think about it how many people have gas-masks lying arround..

of course if you wan't a bit of both you can always mix the mods its all up to you what you can make of this once its out..

Well in a post apocalyptic scenario you are concerning yourself only with the survivors of the apocalypse and of their descendents, and so while not all that many people have gas mask lying around there are problaby quite a few survivors with gas masks. (that is assuming that conditions of the apocalypse or of the post apocalyptic world are of such that possesing a gas mask dramatically increases one's chances of survival) This sort of thought even be followed to its logical conclusion in that there may be some traits or items, which the apocalypse or post apocalyptic worlds' condiitons dictate are an absolute must for survival. That is that if you do not have the certain trait or item you will not be able to survive. In such a scenario everyone could have a gasmask without it being implausible.

Hey there! Sorry for the late reply ...

    Anyways:

domokun, I did not find the time to use more of SLX add-on files. What I can say is, the guide's set-up works quite fine with the latest version - you are right, though, it is highly recommended to use more of Solus' project. You could replace GL4 with SLX' SLX-optimized GL3 system, and much, much more. It's a terrific mod! Considering the limited time I have to spend on the forums and out of convenience as well as gaming experience so far, I will leave the guide's SLX set-up - for now. Thanks for your input :)

Banderas, fleeing is mostly GL4's domain, you can set up the enemy team's morale values in the GL4 configs. I do not have any particular or preferred values at hand. Wounding is best applied by using either ArmA2's vanilla modules or ACE2's wounding system. Taking captives is SLX' domain, of course, and can severely interfere with "standard vanilla" gameplay. I guess it's up to you to what degree you'd like to introduce the feature into your gaming experience. As for the guide the surrendering is limited; should you decide to use SLX' additional wounded features, only incapacitated enemies will surrender to you after they have been healed.

sampat1, welcome to the game! :) Right, as Banderas says, you can open the userprofile (the file called "yourplayername.ArmA2Profile") with any text editor such as Window's "NotePad".

rangoon, the mods work in single player - but get ready for an intense and possibly frustrating battle experience. With more aggressive enemies engaging at medium to long ranges and revamped armour values, the single player difficulty balance is severely disrupted. Personally, I did enjoy the challenge as you often find yourself developing alternative strategies to reach your goal - some of the missions take 3 to 5 times the time they would take in "vanilla mode". If nothing else helps or you face a "dead end", just lower the difficulty settings (enemy aiming / precision above all) in your user config. I admit I did that several times to get past a really nasty area - then set the values back to normal again.

You can very easily turn off mods as you like. Just, as you said, remove the pertaining "@-" folder from your shortcut "-mod=" starting parameter.

Again, sorry for the late reply - and thanks for your input here!

I also like to use alot more of the SLX mod. I like GL4's healing system over the vanilla one as I dont have to constantly swith to the medic to heal my teammates. Of course I wouldnt have to switch to the medic if the medic actually healed people when told to instead of waiting til they are dead before getting around to it. But as far as SLX's healing or ACE2's healing goes I have no idea which I like better as I can't get either to work. ACE2 allows me to examine people and I get a little message like "he is bleeding" but I the options like bandage, morphine, turnequitte, etc. are always greyed out. there is no way to use the medical equipment, and I assume that this is what you are suppose to do with the ACE healing system it just never works for me. Does the ace healing system have to be activated or included in the mission some how or do you just need to run the mod for it to work?

As far as SLX wounding system goes it seems to work fine as far as healing/administering first aid goes, but the real problem it causes is that 95% of the time people die from being shot. That is there are almos no injuries. People tend to die immediately, which isn't a good thing. What really sucks with this is that I have to disable the SLX wounds PBO, and alot of other SLX PBOs are dependent upon the wounds one.

So my suggestion is if your having trouble with dieing rather quickly in engagements is to go through the SLX readme and search for these words: "heal, armor, damage, and wound" read what each PBO containing one of these words does, and if it sounds like it makes people more vulnerable disable it. One PBO which does this which you may miss is the SLX_Mod Weapons Core or something like that but it changes damage values of weapons and tends to make a gun that would take two-four shots to take you down take only one.

I disabled the SLX GL3 PBO and am using GL4, but I don't think it is a bad idea to try using the SLX GL3 PBO w/o GL4 I just haven't got around to trying it out yet.

If your not already start using VFAI, very simple mod which works exactly as described.

As far as difficulty goes I would suggest not using Zeus AI if you are playing single player. It just makes enemies way too accurate and almost impossible to move under fire. But this may be because I can't figure out how to lower the precision. I go into the ARMA2 profile in mydocs/arma2 and change the precision to what I want, then go into the game play for a while exit, and reopen the the ARMA2 profile only to find the value has been bumped up to mathc the enemies skill level. It is suggested to play against enemies with high skill and low precision. That way the enemies will employ a variety of tactics and techniques against you but wont be able to shoot with an AK from 500 meters away with their first shot. I have tried saving as read only file, but I have the feeling this file only reports the in game settings and does not actually affect them, and the config file works same way. But I know i am probably in the minority on that one but whatever.

If your looking for some more weapons definetly get teh RH weapon packs, they are the best but each pack basically gives you 20 different versions of the same gun, so it doesn't add a huge amount of variety. A good pack for variety is the FFAA weapon pack. These are very cool guns, but the telescoped sights aren't as real life as the ACE2 sights and the RH sights. The FFAA pack is a port from ARMA but the textures look fine to me.(woundn't of know had I not read it) The biggest problem with the FFAA pack to me is that the sounds feel kinda weak. I haven't tried it in conjunction with CSM2 yet so hopefully that will give them some more bang.

Two other must have mods for me is the Full screen Night Vision mod, VFTCAS (keeps helicopters flown by ai from flying into ground/trees)

Hey, Hunter123! Yeah, we've noticed - it's been a problem of ArmA2 (and ArmA) to start with but the AI enhancements (especially the increased aggressiveness and attack radius) amplify this effect. The latest beta patch(es) tune nightly encounters back to a more realistic level - but to really avoid the "all-seeing-eye" ability on enemies you might have to disable ZeusAI and, possibly - yet untested - some or all of GL4's ai scripts. Originally, however, this is caused by the way the ai "works" in the game (see the "enemy able to track your every move once they discovered the player" problem).

I didn't have much time testing and tweaking lately and the little free time I get I usually end up just playing the game and having fun; your point if very valid though and duly noted.

The AI are not able to track your every move once they see you. I know this because of a mission I played in the seal team 3 campaign. You assasinate soem dude on an airfield with a sniper rifle and then the whole base comes after you. something like 50 people. You pretty much have to retreat stop and shoot then retreat and repeat over and over. It was a small island but I was able to sneak away from the enemy on several occaisions. The enemy would continue to move in the direction they last saw me in until they got to the beach or just until they got tired I guess. If they knew where I was they would have followed me no matter what but they obviously could only guess where I was based on their last sighting. I was even able to sneak up behind a few and kill them at close range (was low on ammo so used pistol). Im not making this up either to be a fanboy, and try to pretend the game is flawless (cant stand people who do this) please play one of the latter missions of seal Team 3, the one with only you and a spotter on your team, if you dont believe me.

You will find a pretty good mirror for the proper files on armaholic. Just search through the categories.

I have also been trying to find the best combination of the popular mods. This guide was pretty helpful!

But there's one big problem I have encountered with any combination and I'm sure you all know of it:

I find myself wandering around and waiting to be attacked. What I mean is that no matter how cautious and stealthy I behave, 90% of the time I get spotted by the enemy first. This is unrealistic. No matter how I tweak the difficulty settings. It is so annoying playing as a navy seal sniper and being engaged by a farmer with an AK.

I think the problem is the ability of some enemys to hear a needle falling down from 500 metres.

I'm playing the Seal Six 4 campaign. At mission K-bar try to approach the broadcasting station unnoticed. It is rather impossible. The enemys will sound the alarm before you get one of them into your sights. Besides every Black ops mission gets crapped, because you are being attacked by some chedaki who don't even know how to pronounce Nightvision.

    NOW my question is:

Is there ANY way to the AI's ability to detect you? (Except the difficulty settings of course)

    Thanks

I know what you mean. I also think a big part of the problem is that bushes and grass don't affect the AI's vision the same way it does ours. Actually if anybody knows a solution to make grass and bush provide concealment against the enemy please share, as this is very annoying, in that you have to choose between graphics and gameplay in deciding what to set the terrain detail to.

But more on point I have found this little mod which claims to be able to adjust exactly what you are inquiring about ;), but I have not yet tested it out so I don't know if it works or not :o. Definetly worth a shot though right!!? Its called "Infantry Stealth and Recognition Skills" available at http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=9604

Also on a final note I agree with The.D in that disableing Zeus AI should help to some extent.

Good question, Popa. The most we ever got was as far as ~10-12 people for a coop - it seemed stable for most missions (there are scenarios that might cause problems with ACE2/GL4, but that's a mission-sided issue and has nothing to do with the specific mod combination used here) and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

My suggestion in your case would be to use ACE2/GL4/Zeus in a properly configured set-up and leave out the more advanced* stuff (SLX, at the moment). As long as server and internet connection can keep up, it should be fine but you never know until you try :).

*in terms of adding even more content and features gameplay-wise

Edit: Guide updated - SLX 1.99 is working splendidly, although some might want to leave out the wounded features altogether to keep things simpler and ensure compatibility in all missions (ACE and non-ACE).

I might leave out the Units & Gear section. I am completely overwhelmed by its extensiveness. And picking just the "Top 10" is too subjective and ... well, presumptuous of me.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I personally would like to see your top picks for weapons. I know there is alot out there but for those of us who don't do alot of editing it is sometimes a bit of a chore to add weapons to a mission, and so I have only really tried out 1 weapon pack as I dont want to mess with the hassle unless they are gona be some bad ass weapons.

I dont know if I really explained myself correctly but whatever I am just saying I would like to know what you would recommend weapon wise. Also know weapon packs/sound mods with some really loud weapons sounds, Im talking like right on the verge of begin too loud/unproportional to the other sounds loud? Yeah I like em loud.

Hell yeah! I just wasted the last hour of work posting on BIS forums. Office spacing it up!
