NOCD KEY CRACKED SERVERS + irritating public servers
RadicalAtHeart posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I am very angry seeing NOCDKEY servers in the server browser. Can please be acted against this properly? I have also been trying to join DayZ servers which have no password on it. But when I join them I get kicked by Battleye in Polish or Czech saying I have to join their forums or something like that. Is that allowed? This really decreases the user experience. I didn't even know they had a cracked multiplayer up and running until now. Bohemia Interactive, if you are able to ban these servers or send europol after them please do. -

This game badly needs PhysX. It would help a lot in firefight situations. Offload the CPU and SLI systems are a win.

You are being CPU bottlenecked. Monitor GPU usage. If your FPS is <60 and GPU usage is <99-100% then you have cpu bottleneck Your best bet is to decrease view distance to 2000. I never use post processing because I want my gpu power to go to object details or maybe grass or shadows. Reduce view distance and overclock that CPU by 20-30% if you can

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

Which laptop to get? http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/319176/msi-gaming-series-ge60-0nd-283nl/specificaties/ http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/322188/lenovo-ideapad-y580-m778amh/specificaties/ Both have i5-3210M and a GTX660M is that enough? I am about to move from home in the weekends and university during the midweek itself. So I only have to move it two times a week. I can't really go more expensive. Unless I sell my desktop i5-2500k and EVGA GTX670 FTW I could get one of around €1300 probably -
Worst guide ever. I wonder why everyone treats him like a god. Graphics Aperture Size only applies to AGP video cards. Are you kidding me? That tweak will never work. VideoRAM is stored on the GPU not in the actual RAM. No wonder he is banned. The only thing I find useful was the memory allocators and the HDR thing. nonLocalRAM makes me actually wonder if 2GB+ values are actually allowed...

Does anyone else have the flickering shadow bug?
RadicalAtHeart posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
When standing on one location and I turn around 360 degrees, sometimes the shadows are different and you notice a flicker or a switch when a shaow is suddenly not present when watching that view angle. It's very irritating. It has been present since ArmA 1. I have tried AMD, all drivers since maybe 180? Does anyone know how to solve this? I own a EVGA GTX670 FTW It's not really flickering shadows. But when standing still with lots of trees or objects around you and you turn around slowly you can see shadows see suddenly appearing or disappearing. This has been addressed already, but still not solved? https://dev-heaven.net/issues/15583 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?123203-ArmA-2-OA-Beta-Build-83363/page3 there is clearly a movie showing the bug. I really hope this is solved in ArmA 3. This is the one thing that makes me turn off shadows. Although it's not as bad as in the movie. It's more like it's there or it isn't. It doesn't flicker. It just appear under a certain angle and then disappears again if you keep turning. It's really sad. -

The ultimate thread about Arma 3 anti-cheat discussion
RadicalAtHeart replied to nuxil's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
VAC is a great anti cheat engine! I would also love to see it. As long as it's not punkbuster I am glad. If you cheat with VAC, you lose your whole Steam Account. How cool is that? All those games you paid for. I say that's the way it should be done. Never had issues with Battleye though -

But my ASRock Z77 Extreme4 is ATX format. But it's slightly smaller than ATX, so I have a strange situation in my case. There are visible holes in the backplate and also the PSU cables don't hide nicely because of that. Also ASRock seems to have lots of bugs in every BIOS they release, now being I cannot disable C3 C6. I spend lots of time getting a C3 C6 overclock stable because of that. First testing 1 core, then moving to 2 cores, then 3 cores and then 4. My final result is : 1C - 4.2 GHz 2C - 4.3 3C - 4.4 4C - 4.5 GHz All at less than 1.3v To reach 4.5 I would need 1.4v and I would still crash in the end. This is the only way to get 4.4GHz+ stable on this cpu. I was also thinking of buying 2133MHz CL9 memory. We are already getting to the limit with bandwidth in Haswell. Ivy was showing improvements up to 2133MHz I believe. I am also getting aftermarket air cooling for my evga gtx670 ftw and a good cpu air cooler. I don't think a SSD is really necessary. But I am thinking about it. I would still keep my OS on a 7200 RPM drive. That SSD is still too precious. But for ArmA 2 it would be just great. I am really hoping with Haswell that we can reduce costs a lot on the motherboard for overclocking. Since VRMs are on die anyway. Anyway I have still lots of time to think. My only reason for asking this question was that I was maybe thinking of moving to the red camp (AMD). But if the loss is too huge I might just stay. -

Should I get a FX-8350 or successor? Or buy a i5-4570K when it comes out ? I am waiting to upgrade my 2500k. It runs ArmA 2 well. But my ASRock Extreme 4 is slightly smaller than ATX and it looks awfull in my case. I can see the other side of the panel. Now I was wondering how the FX-8350 performs? I am not going to buy my third motherboard for this cpu. So that's out of the question. What do you guys think I should buy? -
Super low GPU usage on MP only???
RadicalAtHeart replied to burdy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
If your GPU usage is also low then it's probably our HDD holding you back. You could use EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner to see your GPU VRAM usage. If it's using all your VRAM you might want to consider either a SSD or a 3GB+ VRAM GPU. Or maybe a combination of both. Use Nvidia Inspector and limit the Operation Arrowhead profile to 35-40 FPS. You don't need any more than that to play the game properly. Also leave VSYNC on to prevent tearing. Somethimes my FPS drops to around 30. But with this FPS cap at 40 I will barely see it happening than coming from something like 60. -
Steam is not a plague for ArmA 2 or ArmA. Everything has always worked fine. All I have to do is launch Operation Arrowhead from steam and all DLCs are loaded automatically. Including vanilla ArmA 2.

RadicalAtHeart posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I found a few workin ArmA 2 aimbots and hacks. What do I do? I obviously won't use them but I can download the hacks using my account on the specified website and then send them to either Bohemia Interactive or BattleEye. Can someone answer this? My mail is REMOVED I will only reply to Bohemia Interactive or BattleEye if I am mailed. If a forum member requests a link I will gladly report that particular forum member. Thank you -
Conversion program for arma to arma 2?
RadicalAtHeart replied to yevgeni89's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I remember the CAA1 addon. Which might float around somewhere. Use that if you want to play your ArmA 1 in the ArmA 2 engine. If you don't own ArmA 1, please know that using this addon is not legal. This addon was removed for a reason. I don't think they will agree. But you could always try. -

RadicalAtHeart replied to RadicalAtHeart's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Seems like most of the hacks affect DayZ in general. I have sent Dwarden and BattleEye my account and my new password of that particular website. So they can monitor it at all times. Now they don't have to go through the hassle of registering on the website. Thank you for removing my email I wasn't aware of these spam bots! The hacks seem to mostly affect DayZ and are very up to date. It's very terrifying I see 20-30 hacks for December 2012 alone. Their forums also seem to be discussing BattleEye weaknesses and possible bypasses. This could be a gold mine for us to stop the cheating. -

I am wondering to get a GTX 660Ti or a GTX670 which is best? The GTX660Ti isn't included in the list. I am really wondering if the GTX660Ti will cut it because I don't have room for SLI. And I won't use SLI. I currently have a GTX650 which is bad -
Nvidia Frame Limiter (30FPS anti-bottleneck)
RadicalAtHeart posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Why do you want 60FPS with this nice game all the time if the game is playable at 30FPS? You will not only save power by reducing GPU usage which would in return reduce CPU usage. Also this will prevent sudden FPS drops due to CPU bottlenecks. They might not cost your life but they are very irritating. Now you can also put your settings slightly higher because you don't have to worry about the fps fluctuation as much. Another reason? Disable VSync. No reason to keep it on. Please note that VSync can also be forced to half the refresh rate in the Nvidia Control panel officially. But this method here doesn't add the potentional input lag. Probably most of you know this tweak already but I am so happy I wanted to share this. If you even feel up to it you can use this together with Virtu MVP in d-mode with Virtual Sync enabled. This way you can have VSync. This is my favorite combination for Counter-Strike Global Offensive. But it is not a permanent solution. If Virtu MVP is discontinued, I am screwed -
I was wondering if affinity controlling could be added. Some people don't like the game to be run on the HT cores. But there is a easy way to prevent this from happening. A i7-3770k is eight bits available, let's assume you hardcode this maximum to 16 for the future. If this is needed. So by default -cpuCount=8 will result into: [1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1] all cores are turned on and being used. Let's say we want to get rid of cpuCount? Or either let users use -cpuCount or -affinity, but not together... So the bit array will result into a decimal value of 255. How? [128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1] Let's say we do not want to run the game on the HT cores: [1,0,1,0,1,0,1,0] --> [128,0,32,0,8,0,2,0] --> -affinity=170 And if they use the affinity parameter, the cpuCount parameter cannot be used. But how to count the amount of threads then we need? Just count the amount of bits having value "1". But we got a decimal number ? int cpuCount = 0 while(continue) { // SMALL ALGORITHM HERE THAT DECODES AFFINITY AND ADDS IT TO CPU COUNT } // In case the algorithm fails or false input is detected, cpuCount may be still zero, so we can detect it using the built-in method if(cpuCount == 0) { detectDefaultCpuCount(); } isn't this a great thing to have? Windows also works this way. And it's not really hard to implement... Only takes a few seconds work.

Nvidia Frame Limiter (30FPS anti-bottleneck)

Super low GPU usage on MP only???
RadicalAtHeart replied to burdy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
It's a CPU bottleneck. You will see one core hitting 100% usage while others sit fairly low. Many people don't seem to notice this. And then they wonder why they have a low CPU usage in total... Then they start blaming the hard drive... To fix this or workaround: If you have Intel Core i5 or i7 CPU, you mostly overclock with C3 C6 disabled... This also brings a disadvantage that all cores run at the same speed. 4.6GHz all cores here requires 1.45v on 2500k But with C3 C6 enabled I could get: 1 core: 4.6GHz 2 cores: 4.5 3 cores: 4.4 4 cores: 4.3 I believe my vcore was something like 1.35v-1.375v This will stress the CPU less while playing on the less stressed cores, so less current is needed in total to run that overclock. However voltage is slightly higher... The real isue is shortly bad multi threading and one core that is spiking. You can use exThreads to offload some to additional threads. But it will add some overhead in general. Again, the main advantage of this is that it will prevent stuttering. If they can split the network handling to a separate thread this would all be solved I think. I am not sure how everything works exactly but it s an assumption
