  1. the forthcoming project reality mod will save the day in terms of Arma 2 PVP. it will bring lots of players from PRBF2 as well as appealing to current arma players.

might finally start seeing some full servers, and there won't be any issues with mods etc as it's going to run standalone from what i've read.

it's exactly what arma has always needed, PVP which forces tactics and teamwork.

  2. Do this:

    1) Place down the Ambient Combat, Ambient Civilians, Ambient Civilian Vehicles, Ambient Animals, First Aid (all 3), and Weather Modules in the editor in Chernarus.

    2) Put yourself as either a single unit, or part of a group, whatever you want to be.

    3) Hit Preview and enjoy.

This is what amazed me in Arma 2 when I first got it. All of the Ambient Modules listed above dynamically generate either friendly or opposing forces, along with civilians and animals across Chernarus. Give it a few seconds to start and you'll begin to see towns populated, animals roaming the farmland and, eventually, all hell breaking loose when two or more factions confront each other. It's simply stunning.

You can also look into the SecOps Module if you want randomly generated tasks for you to complete in said mission as well. When that happens, you actually give yourself a goal of the mission rather than just watching it all unfold. It's very impressive, and that would be what I recommend you do first. ;)

Not recommended for low-range PCs, though. :p

gave this a go but in an hour of walking about cheranus i only came across the following

    1 friendly chopper

    1 friendly squad

    1 friendly BDRM

didn't see any enemies whatsoever, maybe i just got unlucky and missed them ?

Well there are tonnes of things to do.... and you get to find out new things often... even after playing for quite a while.

Try the editor. It one of the best things you can spend your whole day playing, even without playing a proper mission, you'll still enjoy everybit of it.

What I'll do is use some of my fav addons such as GL4, WarFX, CSM mod and of course ACE2, put a couple of OPFOR and myself arm with a laser marker and place an A10... And start laser targeting the poor unfortunate lads on the ground and pounding them with GBUs. With the effects and sounds plus the AI trying to organize themselves to counter react... pretty cool stuffs....

do you have to group the A-10 with yourself for it to be able to drop bombs on your laser marks ?

  3. Just got the game and installed latest version of ACE 2 along with a load of maps.

I am always hearing about what a varied experience Arma 2 offers so i am looking for suggestions for some cool and preferably simple stuff to do in the editor, don't mind what... just stuff which is cool and will help sell them game to me (although i've already bought it lol) cause at the moment i have a few doubts about the game and im hoping you guys can put those doubts to rest by giving me suggestions as to all the cool shit i can do in the editor.

at the moment the main thing im doing is just putting a squad in the editor and then syncing sec op module to the leader so it constantly gives me new missions... im basically just looking for stuff along these lines rather than creating entire missions which is ultimately going to be way over my head.

  4. The A10 has no on-hud remote mode, AH64, for example, has it. You question about bi-focal hud was answered five posts ago (Defunkt's monocle replacement addon that you can find in first page of this thread).

ah ok i didn't see that but what i actually meant was is it possible to get rid of the monocle thing all together, defunkts thing just centres it doesn't it ? i want to get rid of it altogether (if that is possible) so it's just got the same style hud as say the AH-1Z (ie the same as the AH64 only minus the monocole).

i appreciate the monocle is more realistic but i find it hard to see through it due to my not so great monitor !

  5. Yes, in MP games you can lase target for your friends or they can lase target for you. Each time you lock your camera, you are lase targetting for any other friendly unit. You can use also the portable laser designator to transmit laser targets.

In SP games you can mark targets for AI units with special scripts activated. You have several examples in the pack of missions uncluded within mando missile zip.

Forgot to say, laser transmitted targets are visible only in REMOTE modes of HUDs and TV cameras.

ok thanks for again for the info

i know how to access the remote modes of the tv camera but how do i access remote mode of the various huds or is it just one of the various modes we have been talking about and i haven't seen it yet as it's not available on the A-10 ?

oh and going back to one of my first questions, is it possible to for me to somehow disable or remove the bi-focal from the AH64 D hud ?

    last question i promise ;)

  6. ok, i know how to use them using the tv system... i'll guess i'll stick with that.

Is there no way to have someone lase a target for you and have the LGB's lock on though ? or do lased targets automatically appear in the MMA tv system (thus making it easier to find the target ?) or is lasing targets for GBU's simply not an option ?

Cheers for the quick responses btw, it's appreciated :)

  7. Even a FAC unit outside of your squad will lase if he sees an aircraft. Same goes the other way. Add a LGB plane in the air and put yourself on the ground - not grouped with plane - start lasing and wait. The plane will drop where you lase.

yeah i can lase targets myself no problems, and the AI lases the targets ok as well... but the gbu 12's are still not locking on and im starting to think it's because of what i mentioned in my previous post, ie there is a specific mando command you have to give as an FAC operator for the GBU's to work.

im sure in vanilla arma what you said would work fine, seems it's maybe mando related

  8. The FAC (if he's human) must transmit once he's lasered the target

ok thinking about it maybe this could be the problem, i remember when i was lasing targets for an AI chopper there was the option "transmit MMA target" or something like that, im assuming because i am using the AI to lase targets they can't do this step ?

If this is the issue (and i've no idea if it is tbh) then is there anyway of getting around this other than using a human player to lase the target ?

  9. Hi thanks for the quick response, i did indeed check the online readme but it was for the most part way over my head... im pretty new to this game to say the least !!!

anyway i seem to have the sidewinders sorted, had to switch the mode to "AGM65" instead of "AGM65 (ground)" and then it seems to lock on ok.

now im just trying to work out how to get the GBU 12 to lock on, i have an ai FAC operator who is grouped with me and transmitting a lase designation (which appears with red outline, although not on the actual mando hud) but when i fire off the GBU's (in any mode) they don't seem to lock on. Not sure what i am doing wrong ? what mode should i be using for the GBU 12s ? should i have the laser designation actually appearing on the HUD itself ?

a noob like myself would really appreciate any help, it's a great mod i just need to get my head around a few things and the online readme just confuses me (not the readme's fault, just my general lack of knowledge and terminology)

  10. i've just got an ai FAC guy who is grouped with me who is lazing the target, a little red outline appears around the target but no matter what mando hud i select tab doesn't seem to lock on like it does for the sidewinders etc.

the mando hud modes for the A-10 are as follows

    "Navigation"

    "Air - AIM9"

"AGM65" (what im using for locking on with the sidewinders)

    "AGM65 (Ground)"

What one should i be using for the GBU 12's ?

  11. Im in the A-10, got some GBU-12D/B Paveway missiles and i have an FAC operator on the ground who has lased a target...

when i click fire the bombs just freefall and don't lock on to the target, why is this ?

Im using latest version of mando missile mod, not sure if this makes a difference or not ?

  12. Hi, im new to this mod and arma in general so please bare with me.

I just installed this mod and im trying to use the mavericks on the A-10 but it seems the only way i can use them is by switching to the "AGM65 Camera" which seems confusing as how is 1 person meant to fly and then at the same time locate, line up and destroy a target using this camera ? i don't really know anything about the military so maybe they actually do this in real life ?

i was just hoping to be able to fire off mavericks from the standard cockpit view. I've switch my hud mode to "AGM65 (Ground)" but the lock on doesn't seem to work properly when i press tab, it doesn't lock onto the target in the same way some missiles do on various other aircrafts such as the AH-1Z.

Is this a known glitch or am i doing something wrong ?

any help would REALLY be appreciated

i also have similar problems with a few other aircraft such as the sidewinders on the F-35B, i can't select them by pressing the F key (same as with the mavericks on the A-10) but with these i can't even find a hud or camera mode for them which will let me fire them, it's like they are impossible to use !!

oh and im using the latest version of ACE as well, just incase that might be relevant to the issue ?

---------- Post added at 11:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 AM ----------

oh and one more question while im here.

is it possible to turn off the "bi-focal" overlay for the AH64 ? i want to have all the mando missile hud stuff, just not the bi-focal...

    peace
