Ahhh I did not know they were not on all the time. But what about vehicles that have fire control systems that calculate on the fly.

Just love the animation of door opening and you climbing in!!! And the one climbing into the Opfor attack chopper is sweet also. But it really is too many open door commands and should be streamlined.Do people get in and out of vehicles and leave doors open alot?I say place the menu for all the doors in the rear compartment area and just make it so when you enter and exit a vehicle the doors open and close for you and put all the various door comands to the rear compartment.Right now when you go to rear it says inventory/open rear door.Should say inventory/open rear/open Lfront/open Lmiddle/open Rfront etc. And I knew there was more seats in the back of Iffrit. Now open them up for us plzzzzzzz.

If anti-thermal suits reduce TI effectiveness and its hard to acquire targets with it then its just a tool. Its just the bright white that makes it OP and if that is reduced then at times TI may be better and at other times VIS or NV.I was worried about thermal on infantry until I seen that there is clothing that reduces the signature you give off.I doubt I would use it in closed forest areas due to FOV,disorientation and not that great of an advantage but to scan horizons for movement I would.
-
I know its kinda taboo to bring up infantry running around with thermal goggles but if there is a way to reduce signatures at present time then it will be much better at 2035.I find myself getting simulation fever over this as it will be a big part of future combat. It could add tactical layers to combat with player goggles having both NVG and TI capability and trying to use all the tools at your disposal to get an edge. But first I ask has anyone heard of Ghost clothing that reduces your signature to thermal vision? This video shows what it can do. Now I love playing a crewman in Arma3 as I have always been fascinated with armored vehicles but its just to easy to see men as bright white objects when in real life thermal does have some slight drawbacks.Add in modern thermal signature reducing uniforms and you force crewmen to really have to scan the areas better.Just put yourself in an APC and some friendly infantry moving in distance and observe them with TI BHOT.Where the men are black imagine them more grey to force players to notice movement instead of the current men standing white as snow on dark land. You could even have vehicles that are switchable to battery power to get reduced TI signatures but only run for a short time and then must run engine to recharge them.Batteries are about to make a huge breakthru so its very believable and reduces sim fever. http://eng.bluechersystems.com/produkte/C10 And one last idea for future soldiers is IMO we do need a HUD.The info we have onscreen right now could be included into a believable HUD screen overlaid on upper right side as it is now and is only seen when wearing items that allow it.Just a small info screen unobtrusively laid over normal view with just a few important pieces of information.Heading/GPS coordinates/time....that is it but in the future timeline that is believable.

Its a pain as its another button I agree and I rebound hold breath back to Rmouse. Here is a new one....you press hold breath and you get the 6 secs of stability at which point the sway slowly increases to standard rate and the your kaput and must lower weapon for a bit.

I also agree great stuff InstaGoat!Just a question I have is what you mean by the laser range finders being click and win.Aren't they super easy to use?

I am fine with GPS popup and I use 2xF to show GPS and feel it simulates a unit on my wrist that I then bring up to view.I also have Rshift as GPS toggle on for vehicles. And something I have been thinking of lately is TI for infantry.I think BI had plans for this as the opfor suits look to have some sort of kooling unit on upper back and the way the whole suit looks material wise and how it goes far up the neck. And the helmet looks to be cooled also with the tubes going in and out.A part of me hates it but a part of me says that this is how it will be in future as technology increases. What are your thoughts on this?

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
Wolfstriked replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Collimator sights cleaned up.I actually use irons sights instead as the view is clean and firing at enemies 400m and out is easier. The collimator sights should be cleaned up and also the reticules glow that blurs there actual shape. If possible that could get removed. Any takers? -
Arma 3 - Custom Controls / Keybinds
Wolfstriked replied to MacStanley's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
When you run up to a vehicle you will get an icon to enter the vehicle. All you need to do is press use default key, usually the middle mouse button, and you will enter vehicle. As for looting inventory I have assigned T as inventory key and when I need to loot a body I walk up to it and press T.Custom controls I have no idea what they are for. -
Thanks,I will try rebinding the key as I never have done that.

Maybe make it so that hold breath function is always on?It just feels off to me when I fight the sway that is left after I press hold breath(and when standing/crouched you still have to fight the sway when holding breath) and right when I go to pull trigger the weapons sways worse than before. And then after that its two seconds of steadiness and then worse sway etc.Coupled with the recoil that alone makes you have to recenter the aimpoint on target makes for a non-intuitive feel IMO.Might as well go prone because fighting is useless while standing or crouched.I see Arma3 as a P-FPS as in you better go prone or you will die.I don't know what mindset BI has against fighting in standing/crouched but I really feel they make those positions too harsh. If firing the weapons while crouched/standing always had hold breath applied you still need to fight sway but you remove the annoying erratic breathing sway mechanism...which would be a good thing IMO.

Iranians become white when player controlled
Wolfstriked replied to Evilhardt's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Think of your self as a light skinned Iranian when this happens. -
Going from the field manual explanation of vehicle commanding I was quite excited to see how it played out. This is what it says there under vehicles and commanding..... COMMANDING The commander in vehicles issues orders to the driver and gunner.Commands are displayed in the message log for crew members to then carry out.Issue move commands by pressing WASD/Control speed with Q&E/Issue fire commands by pointing at target and pressing TAB/Commander is able to acquire manual fire by pressing ('). The Marid has no commander position either. On the AMV the spot where the commanders periscope was placed is now just a round hole that has been welded shut.Sadly it seems armored vehicles are getting the worst from the cutting block.

I prefer the rear view mirror way as that is how I learned to drive backwards with and is how the rear view cameras I drive with work. -

Why cant we choose Iranian faces? No i'm not Iranian. -
So what do we agree on in this thread? And will the devs change their current sway/hold breath/erratic movement etc etc system?

Twist king I voted up!What do u think about he small sized pip in the strider? It would fit perfectly underneath the driver view ports in the APC's.Throw in standard GPS in opposite corner and a digital heading and turret bearing indicator at top and and it would look good IMO. And I posted a ticket about the flipped PIP but it got downvoted.FPDR Maybe I am wording it wrong so I'll explain it better here. When you have a building on the right side of your truck it should show up in right side of PIP but instead its flipped and it shows on left side.I could be very wrong here though I am kinda certain and I did verify today with a rear view camera that objects on one side of vehicle show up in PIP on that side. -
Isnt the weapon shouldered as default though? When you go to sight and look thru the actual sight you would be tensing up while trying to get off a shot. With removed hold breath function and instead sway is minimal when you first look thru sight and then builds up you mimic the concentration and tension of getting off a few shots and then behind cover again.

From the very start I have felt that something is wrong with the PIP rear cameras in vehicles.I use a rear view camera every day and they feel very easy to use yet in A3 I cant understand them.I thought it was maybe that the wide FOV was throwing me off but I just gave it a good go to see if it could actually be useful and I find its backwards. Can someone please verify it and I'll post a ticket. -
One thing I feel should change is that the sprint ends before the extreme fatigue kicks in.It feels like my character gives in too easy.I think it would be better if he can sprint until the heavy breathing/blur kicks and for a few seconds further.I also think that weapon lowered running should be slower and not cause heavy panting and blur.

Realistic navigation difficulty setting??
Wolfstriked replied to Wolfstriked's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
If I was rich I would make my own server.Well now that I think about it I have all the pieces from my last build I could use that are still pretty good.Gonna look into setting up a server to see if I could make this happen....and then play alone as no on would ever stay due to boredom FPDR Haha -
Realistic navigation difficulty setting??
Wolfstriked replied to Wolfstriked's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
LOL I never said no map just no icons as GPS AND a map is all you need to navigate and instantly tell what grid you are in.As for syncing soldiers in your squad to your GPS well its being worked on in real life. Its big and bulky laptop sized though and the squad leader carries it to better keep charge of his grunts. But we are not fighting rebel low tech enemies but rather equal tech enemies. The reason I mention this, and I am not certain on it, is that in order to synch up a GPS unit would have to send a signal out which is then traceable by the enemy.Simple passive units I think will be the norm for this reason but who knows where technology will head.I am fine with the GPS units we have now. What I mean by recon pilots is that the server will no longer pop up "attack Kamino" etc with a big red circle around it.Recon pilots can be CAS or just transport helis but they are players that have the task of scanning the map for mobile enemy squads and enemy emplacements. When spotted they send coordinates to HQ which then pops up "the message" enemy squad at 045025 etc.And MHQ's can also change in that they stay mobile.Right now you drive a fighting vehicle to an AO and then deploy it so people can spawn from it.But its a fighting vehicle and not a spawn point and so should stay mobile and allow players to fight with it.There is also a mention of medical APC's in the field manual in A3.It says in the AMV-7 description....AMV-7 Medical is customized for a patient transport capability and is loaded with special medical equipment. And if you keep the MHQ's low they will get destroyed here and there and so not make transport helicopters obsolete. Then there is resupply drops which could be vehicles that bring supplies to squads etc.Its will not be the instant spawn/attack/die/respawn in middle of battlefield we have now but a more realistic approach to taking over an island that doesnt need a bunch of real life friends to coordinate it,which is very important.;) -
Then make lowered weapon slightly slower and remove the severe fatigue effects from it.You want to run or sprint then deal with the blur IMO.
