ToraBora "Sandbox Edition"
pre-Vet replied to Chill xl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Good map for some 2001-2003 OEF ops :) And for wide open spaces, use the MOAB ;) No srsly, there are plenty 10x10km parts in Afghanistan without bases, so dont worry about realism. Mission makers could just use a "Rest Over Night" location to start your operations from, just make a cirle from vehicles and you are done. put some sandbags and hescos in front of the vehicles and you have a COP. Most exstended operations use these kind of improvised strongholds as patrol bases. -
Setting choppers to whatever behaviour other than 'careless' makes them ignore a landing order when enemy is near and fly off to the next waypoint. I am really intrested in names for chopper lights so I can disable them. Does anyone know where and how to find out?? Thanks in advance found this but its for ArmA

Any way to solve this problem???

Really nice! Good to see a large map with a river. -
Thank you for these reskins! Finally some SAD/SOG aircraft :) I do hope you figure out how to remove the backdoors(if it is possible)
-
ah thank you vey much! The Settings.sqf is done really nice! playing around with it last few times and makes it able to really customize it to fit about every mission! Thanks for the great addon, a A10 gunrun would make it perfect ;)
-
great script! One intresting situation:I put a AV-8B on station with 4xJDAM 2xCBU AT, let it drop 4xjdam. after that I could only select another 4xJDAM for the next strike, the 2xCBU where gone. Good to see the planes drop on the first pass. Any way to let the planes fly heigher? The ATGM is really impressive btw!

Would it be possible to get SAM Support working with the grid system on Chernarus? Would be truly awesome!

Use setidentity to let them speak english. For the other one, its a SF operator with an M136, there are a lot of those around. Maybe a seperate addon would be the answer, request it in the request threath and see is anyone wants to do it. If no one want to, dont go requesting it in every other treath showing a guy looking like a MW2 model. Let this one just be as it is. Too much modders are stressed to do more and more lately.

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8964 Close enought. And for your other request try this: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12365 MW2 had some real nice models, especially the TF141 characters but I'd be glad enought when Schnaps would release the models shown to us already! Finally jeans and shirts! :)

Good to see some propper PMC contractors! Would love to also use these guys for SF :) Any ETA on this?

Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2

Would it be possible for the pilot to do the same on manual fire? Aiming with the monocle? Succes with your work! -
What would you like BIS to focus on?
pre-Vet replied to armatech's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Single player scenarios. The community made missions are really nice but never are as cool as the BIS missions! -
Make it SP only maybe? A lot of gamers don't play MP.. Most hardcore gamers have dualscreen set-ups these days. At this moment you lower your weapon while looking at the map. It would be nice to press M, get a map on your secondairy and still be able to look for landmarks but not being able to shoot. When you start moving or raise your weapon make it turn to the gear or tasks screen. Good Idea? In vehicles it should be always availible in the commanders seat.

Dutch F16's intercept radio silent Russian Tu-95 above North Sea
pre-Vet replied to Pyronick's topic in OFFTOPIC
With the Mech Inf the AWM is to slow to deploy, takes at least 3minutes from the bag to the first shot. the 417 would be a huge improvement on that plus most of the combat with the mech inf(and almost all CAT in A-stan) is integrated so the long shots can be done with the vehicles. The AMB get them in their SLA groups as a personal weapon. Being a SLA myself I love the .338 but the ammunition is just to scarse what has a huge impact on combat readyness because you cant maintain your shooting condition. (dont know if that is propper english :s) The project is halted due to budged cuts though. People with the engineers leave the base quite often, people from most non-manouvre elements almost never. Its Wierd they dont get the 98 models still in stock, they dont need grips and aimpoints, ironsights are much cheaper. Nothing in the gas system really changes and the rail system is pretty limited. It looks cool but not a lot different from the upgrades we got in A-stan. The problem with the gas system is that every shot blows the upper reciever full of gas, where the 416 uses a piston system. You problably know the guns in the army start wearing from cleaning, not from firering. -- On the YPR, the engines are really good, we even had tuned ones in A-stan for the ERA vehicles. never really had any problems with getting those parts now you mention it, with the tracks and wheels(!!) its a different story though. Some vehicles couldnt drive because we had no replacements. The wheels are made af aluminium to make it float better but with the ERA they started wearing too fast. (you could make good money when you made em of steel, the m113 AIFV cant float anyway.) As far I know the YPR was disigned in the USA as the M113AIFV but the US army didnt want it because it toppled over in the water when you tried to float it and they went with the Bradley. Than they sold the license to DAF, they improved it a little and there was the YPR. I believe in 30 years there are still YPRs rolling somewhere, things are beasts. :) -
Thank you, but Im not all knowing. Still a very nice of you to say that! :) You tend to talk a lot but say almost nothing, only about "what is proof" and no facts or only theories from people who want to sell a book. Too bad, thought you really had something to contribute.

I see how this would not be a good addition when you only have one monitor but to anser your question: well.. yes, the FO usually has a pretty big map with him and in vehicles(where this request was for) its pretty handy to have a big map. In our army we even have touchscreens the size of my laptop fitted that shows the map in the same fasion as requested. At the moment you have a 22" map as well when you press M so I think that is as authentic as the suggested solution. The thing is, when you are interacting with your map you can just turn your head an scan your surroundings without losing your work. And with some nice new scripts you have to give a map coordinate and its impossible to look at the map and give the coordinate at the same time, not authentic at all. Btw, something like this already exists in RL:http://en.souvr.com/product/200912/5604.html. Felin, Landwarrior, VOSS, the Germans and the British projects are using these microdisplays.

Cant you ristrict the use of certain weapons in MP? I think an AC-130 is not really the weapon you want to use when you go house seaching, when doing specops in the middle of the night being outnumberd and outgunned it might be usefull against technicals and light armour. Maybe the scenario has to keep the balance and not the weapons available to make the scanario with.

Laser Guided Bomb Computer for aircraft
pre-Vet replied to viper0311's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Since everybody is aways going on and on about Arma not being a game but a simulator (but when it comes to suggestions everyone cares about balance): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_Sniper_XR
