  1. Also about the addon/modded jets, I never used them in ArmA 2 for missions as I always try to make vanilla missions so that people that download it can play it right away and give them the freedom to add whatever they want to the mission. And how does it work with the workshop if you try to upload a mission that contains addons that you grabbed from armaholic, does that work? Do you have/need permission from the modder to release that mission with his modded jet to Steam?

  2. Why would you think that? Just press X to fully get up and press CTRL+W 2 times, that's all :) Using the mousewheel would remove a finger from the trigger.

Still, when the bullets are flying over my head, I often am braking my fingers doing the ctrl/w/s/a/d thing + that I often hold the shift key accidently in the combat rush. I just don´t find it comfy as it is now, I do like the stances in itself, it´s quite useful.

  3. That's essentially what the buzzard is, I'm not so keen to buy the same assets twice.

True, but would not mind having the A10, Harrier and SU34 back. The problem with current A2 assets is that they do not work properly in ArmA 3 and personally I can´t get AiA working at all. So if I can buy all assets as a DLC and have everything working then I don´t mind paying for it.

  4. THE GOOD:

[*]- most interesting and useful combat stance animation system in history of video games

This should actually be in the bad section. The stances in itself are a nice addition, but the way you have to use them is a pain in the butt. You constantly spend seconds to adjust your stances. If you are in low knee stance you have to cycle through all the stances to finally get to a high stance again with a key combo that is far from comfortable. The stances should be on the scrollwheel for smooth and intuitive cycle.

I do agree with the lack of a 3D editor or fundamental improvements to the editor as a whole. They have added some modules now which supposed to make this a bit easier/faster, but there is not a whole lot of documentation about it on how to use them, not much/nothing on the biki.

  5. No, this should not be the case at all.

You can make a simple test by:

    • Start Stratis editor
    • Place a chopper, player as pilot
    • Put the Elevation parameter to 10000 (Ten thousand)
    • Preview the mission
    • You should now be above the clouds

Maybe not the topic to ask, but while we on the cloud subject, will there be a slider in the future (no hurry) that lets you set the cloud altitude?

  6. @Maffa , if it was supposed to be realistic ´futuristic´then Iran would not be in Greece in the first place. A more realistic future scenario would be Iran invading Israel or something, but I guess that would have meant even more Devs in jail as israel is way more paranoid about ´spies´. The point is that we have this great ArmA2 where the airforce can be a big part in missions, but in ArmA 3 it is not even optional, because there is 1 basic jet (on the biggest map ever). If you don´t want to fly jets or don´t want to see them in missions thats fine, but they should be in the game for the ones that do think it is a vital aspect of military. Also in 20 years from now there will still be jets in action, you can´t tell me that an army will be totally depended on a bunch of drones. I mean , nice that they added drones, but I probably will not be using them as I like more conventional warfare. Good chance (hoping) that there will be a whole bunch of AiA servers after release with conventional ArmA2 content.

  7. Rather convenient that they seem to have chosen lack of fixed wing assets under the guise of modern warefare/realism. I was excited for the commanche but not at the expense of the A10 f35 etc.

Make the physics/immersion realistic not the scenario, the community can do that quick and easy all we need are the toys!

Indeed, ArmA3 is more like ´take on helicopters (more then enough heli´s in the game!)´ with some ground vehicles and infantry, one lonely jet was added and not even like an advanced futuristic jet that is in line with all the other futuristic looking content. Also the huge airfield with many hangars and landingstrips looks just silly with only 1 jet in the game.

  8. Doesnt matter, vanilla should have enough base content to create all kinds of missions with. You can´t make airforce missions with 1 jet.. and that with the biggest map ever. I know that the fixed wing fanatics are the minority in ArmA, but besides the Altis map flying new jets was the biggest thing I was looking forward too combined with making missions for fixed wings.

  9. If you look at some of the videos that have Altis in them, especially the helicopters one you will see that there are numerous smaller airfields all over Altis, in fact a Dev has even stated this.

Those are just soft airstrips if I saw it correctly, not suited for fixed wings.

I am atm still shocked at the lack of content with the official release so maybe I am not thinking straight.

---------- Post added at 03:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:26 PM ----------

Please also understand the we *may* see additional content be added in through the campaign episodic DLCs. That *may* include additional aircraft, armored, and small arms coming our way through the coming months after the full release of the game.

Then don´t call it a final release when half the content is still missing. I am not looking forward to wait an other year before they may or may not decide to add a couple more jets in the game. I would even be satisfied with upgraded A2 jets as placeholder, but one jet at release, come on. Thats an insult to all the ArmA pilots.

  10. Bump, because I have updated the mission!

All details and download link can be found in the opening post. In general, I have improved the performance and made it more efficient. Reduced and changed a lot of waypoints and added garbage collecting. Added new bluefor units (F35 & Apache) and overall the AI will engage you more now and try to cause more havoc on the base.

    Have fun :)

  11. I wouldn't accuse Arma 3's devs of not "putting in enough effort". As Rocket pointed out, there's way more VBS devs:

I saw a couple of VBS video's yesterday and what I saw was ArmA, same maps, same units, same everything. Only there were a bunch of extra features that ArmA does not have like jumping out of a C130. Why Can't BIS add those things to ArmA if both sims are basically the same?

  12. My only real problem with the future setting is that I don't have an idea about the story/conflict behind it and thus can not easily create (and immerse myself) storyline missions that will fit the ArmA3 setting. In ArmA2 it was easy to create a story around a mission as you know everything about the conflict in Afghanistan and the taliban etc. And also when I walk around on Stratis is just different then walking around in Takistan as you have no real life situation/conflict taking place in Greece and thus can not immerse myself as I could in the afghanistan setting. Hope that makes sense.
