Trying to host a game, connection refused on the port???
b00tsy replied to Murklor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
I had the same problem when I tried to setup the latest server version and gave up after many tries. Old server version (1.57?) worked perfect in 1 go. I'm interested in the possible anwser too :) -
Well I don't have 1k lying around since the crisis started in 2008. Maybe easy if you live at your parents and don't have to pay piles of bills every month.

Anyone Still Going to Play ARMA 2 when ARMA 3 Comes Out?
b00tsy replied to Phantom Six's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Voted for always as A3 does not support dualcores.... -
Seeing that you need at least a good quadcore for A3 it is no longer relevant If will buy it. can't even play it anyway. It will remain to be a game for the elite that can spend +1k for a pc every few years.

HDD`s effects game play more than you think
b00tsy replied to stk2008's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well it definitely helped against stuttering, it plays noticable smoother now. The amount of fps I get is the same. -
I recently have edited the great domination mission and spiced it up a bit and added BAF content and some other stuff. Thought I might as well share it with the public :) All credits goes to Xeno of course for creating Domination, I just did some minor editing. Whats different? Well, I always thought that it was a bit to safe in between ao's and side missions. There were no enemy troops patrolling Takistan outside of mission area's. I have added opfor armored, motorized and air patrols over the entire map that will engage you if you are spotted. You may encounter tank platoons, gunships, UAZ's and fighter jets outside of mission areas so you have to be alert and ready for combat at all times now. The added AI does not influence the main and side missions. It is not necessary to engage them to capture towns and completing side missions unless they are located inside an active ao. To compensate for the extra opfor resistance I have added armored vehicles, choppers and jets at the HQ (+ more vehicles like ATV's etc), made new playable teams (includes BAF engineer team, US pilot team). All added vehicles will respawn at base if they are destroyed or left abandoned after 5 minutes. I have added custom ammo boxes at the base that contains most weapons. The boxes will be refilled every 5 minutes. In front of the ammo crates there are many coyote backpacks. The player will be able to save his gear loadout at the crates. The player will also be able to heal himself with bandages 3 times during the missions when he has 0.5 damage or more. I have added also a few friendly AI AA units at the base, a strong point and added some sounds and props on the base. Added vehicles at base: Apache x1 A-10 2x Jackal x1 Wildcat x1 ATV x4 Abram/tusk x4 Linebacker x1 Bradley x1 Warrior x1 Hmmv x4 M270 MLRS x1 Added opfor patrols: Tank platoons (mix) APC's UAZ's L-39ZA's MI-8's I haven't played my edited version on a full server yet, but so far as I have tested the added content it definitely makes things more interesting. A pilot really has to know how to do evasive maneuvers to keep his chopper/plane in one piece otherwise he will be toast in no time. Same for the ground troops, You can not blindly walk/drive around outside of ao's now without being engaged by a tank on a far hillside or a gunship etc. :) Anywho I like it spiced up a bit and with extra firepower at the base, hope you do too. :) Download: http://www.2shared.com/file/jGqwWeYl/co34_Domination__CO__West__B00.html Armaholic mirror: Spicy Domination 2 +BAF (Bootsy edit) Co-34 (@) Update: After playing my edited version on a dedicated server a few times I have decided to edit it some more. The added opfor did make it more interesting, but was not an extra challenge enough yet. So I have changed the added AI, gave them new patrol routes and gave them more fire power. I have also decorated the base more, added new teams, vehicles and added some friendly AI in an animation loop to enhance the atmosphere a bit. The new Bluefor teams are: BAF tankbuster team BAF engineer team BAF fireteam 2x US infantry teams 2x forward air controlers US pilot team Added opfor patrols: Heavy armor groups SU-34 squadrons L-39ZA squadrons MI-8 squadrons On the base I have added 2 F35B's to give you a fair chance against the nasty opfor jet fighters :) New version download: Armaholic mirror (v.1.21): Spicy Domination 2 +BAF (Bootsy edit) Co-34 (@)

Armaholic should have the latest version it is just named 1.1 on the page, Big updated it for me. Just in case, here is the latest version: http://www.2shared.com/file/QPgcY0Cm/co34_DomCO__B00TSY_edit__121Ta.html I will have a look at the added decoration, did not notice inconsistencies with the sandwalls, do know what you mean now with the AA pod, will fix that with the next patch. meanwhile there are some other added AI AA pods on the base to compensate for the south end of the base. -

Hi, I have edited it more, the latest version you can download at armaholic (v.1.21) which includes the F35B's. What do you mean with missing objects? I have left the original dom more or less unedited, just added stuff on top of it. It is possible that the new added BAF teams can't recruit, haven't tested that to be honest, never use AI recruiting myself. You sure you turned recruiting on in the settings? Ohh and the latest version is even more hardcore on some parts of the map, You really need some players with stingers or good pilots with the added opfor jets patrolling the map :) -

b00tsy replied to b00tsy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Cool :) I played it several hour now and it is pretty nasty. Setting domination to not random AO's works best with this version (I use west start). Getting to an ao at opposite side of the map with a chopper requires luck and skill :) -
Why don't people play Coop Missions??
b00tsy replied to IDF Fighter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Lol I get kicked of the servers when I try to provide transport with a heli, while I rock as a chopper pilot. Or some dumb shoots you in the head while sitting in the pilot seat waiting for units to board the chopper. I like The Cav server too when there are admins around, to bad they restart domination like everytime half way because of bugs in their edited version. -

Probably although I doubt I can run it... unless it is just as demanding as OA and not more.

Yeah the biki page has 10000 characters about waypoints, non of them explains easily how to break a guard waypoint which is common on the biki pages unfortunately. It is easier to use a patrol script that requires more resources then to learn from biki pages which leads to more frustrations.
-
I would like to see that groups can cycle though more waypoints without additional scripting. Un less I am doing something wrong, I can not let AI cycle to more then 2 waypoints in the editor. Also THe cycle does only seems to work with the 'move' command. When I try 'guard' with a timer the AI does not seem to cycle anymore, but stays at the guard waypoint.

Hi, I am searching my butt of for the mission files of all domination versions. I had them but accidently deleted the revive versions. I can't find a working dl link here in the user mission section / domination thread and not on armaholic. Can anyone provide me a working link to the files (not the .pbo's) or know hwere they are for download? I want to make an edited domiOA revive version. Thanks in advance.
-
Thanks, I have downloaded those, but they contain pbo's mostly, at least the revive mission files are not included. I also tried to use a Unpbo program but did not work.
-
Sorry can't find it on my pc I will pm you. I think Domination is one of the most smooth and fun mp missions for large servers ArmA has. Just want to give it my personal touch to it :)

Cool, let me know if the added AI is enough of a challenge. Otherwise I will add some more or make them respawning :) -
Hi, I really hope that BIS will make the tanks less jumpy when it bump against rocks. Even the smallest rocks will flip over tanks. Especially when you're going down hill you can not see well whats in front of you so it is hard to avoid all the rocks. I just flipped over again after a 10 minutes drive to the ao. I stand next to the rock and it could not have been more then 10cm high, how could that flip over a tank that ways tons?

Improvements I believe a decent number wants
b00tsy replied to Ironman13's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Speeking for the entire community... ArmA rocks! :> -
I could slow down more indeed, down hill you do go very fast quickly... but still you can't always avoid them specially when they are behind vegetation and at slow speeds you sometimes do a triple flip with the tank too when you hit a rock lol. Well it is just a suggestion, hope they can improve that in the future :)

If they would just add an option to enable a more basic lighting system then everyone will be happy. The ones that like to be blinded with realism and the ones that want more fps. A lot of RAM is used just for the lighting system (I suspect). I have the games of the s.t.a.l.k.e.r series which has arma-like lighting system with sun rays etc. When I use the advanced lighting system I get maybe 15 fps. When I enable 'static lighting' I suddenly have 60 to 80 fps. I suspect that something similar might happen if they add static lighting option to arma3. I hope they will at least think about adding it. It will also increase the userbase a lot as more people we be able to play the game then.
