I don't have Anniversary Edition, but as far, as I understand, correct me please if I'm wrong, it's just a game package, many games sold as one item, and all included games have to be installed separately.
Using mods on Steam isn't any different from retail copy, at least after 1.60 update. Put @modfolder into main /arma 2 operation arrowhead directory, keys and userconfigs (if included) into /keys and /userconfig. Start Operation Arrowhead, go into Expansions, check mods you want for game to load on game startup.
I don't think you need to Steam Backup of game files. Obviously, all components (A2, OA, BAF, PMC) need to be installed.

I'm not even expecting resonable AI behaviour inside buildings, I know IF:L44 won't have new AI. More like, I'm expecting actual improvements already done in possible areas. Mentioned ASR_AI isn't really resource heavy mod, but some features, like squads sharing enemy info if close enough, or AI rearming by itself, make huge difference gameplay-wise.
-
I'm really, really curious about AI. Should we expect Vanilla A2 AI, or improved with some features from community-made addons, like ZeusAI or ASR_AI? Will inter squad communication have limited range? Will squads cooperate (or at least share info) if can communicate via radio? Or maybe some more tricky features?
Oh, and will they have sniper-like accuracy with bolt-actions?

To quote:
"This [O'Neill holds up Ma'Tok, a staff weapon] is a weapon of terror. It's made to intimidate the enemy. This [holds up a P-90] is a weapon of war. It's made to kill the enemy."

Like publishers/game devs did WW2 theme to death they will probably do it with future and superfuture setting. Where is the creativity or innovative gameplay/design with only profit and customer retention ruling the decisions?Sometimes I wonder why no one used Korea War. Complete clusterfuck at begining, with Blufor completely ounumbered and outgunned. Change of pace with allied reinforcements. Pattons and Centurions making short work of enemy T-34s (which in first part were like some freaking juggernauts), while themself beign outgunned by IS-2 and especially IS-3 tanks. Then PLA join play with their, seem like, unlimited resources.
Or Cold-War-gets-hot w/o nukes scenario somewhere in 60's, like Cuban Missile Crisis, low-budget RTS based on Blitzkrieg engine, thing hit the spot for me.
The horses were the only thing I liked about the trailer. It's probably inspired by the invasion of Afganistan. The Northern Alliance and Army special forces charged Taliban BMPs and Shilkas on horseback, under cover of airstrikes. It was on the way to take Mazar-e-Sharif. You can read about in some book called Horse Soldiers or something.Don't get your hopes up, my bet it's just autoaim shooting sequence same as snowbike or river boat in MW2.

OK, I'll be the asshole and say it.
Accidents like that happens everyday. As much as I expect this to be indeed tragic news for her family and friends, I don't quite how it's tragic for anyone else.

Yeah :D
Funko (FNC): "Where's L?"
Sig (SG550): "She broke her firing pin during first period. She's in the infirmary now"
Funko: "How did she break THAT!?"
I've tried to watch this, ultimately decided to just to keep reading original. It's better for the mind. And ears.

Likeness of committing atrocities. If you take a look at modern wars, you'll see freedom fighters killing many times more civilians than occupying forces, even though it's the latter who often use overkill firepower. That's result of having standing armies to obey ROE. Especially nowadays, when PR is just as important and armored divisions, militaries try to avoid civilians casualties when possible.
Second is, countries are responsible for actions of their armies. If it's country's army that performes ethnic cleansing/genocide it will often result in sanctions/embargo for entire country. While weapon embargo itself won't stop them from killing, it will hurt their combat ability, and is possibly dangerous to the state. That is, unless someone ignores embargo and sells them weapons anyway.
Big players (or small players with big friends) can do more. That's reality. But does it mean UN shouldn't intervene at all because it can't held everyone responsible?
-
So... should we disarm police as well? Or maybe we should disband our armies?
[/sarcasm]
Difference is same as between legally owned gun bought in store and gun bought on black market. Both can be used to commit a crime, and both can be used in legal self-defence. So, by your logic, there's no difference and selling guns from under shelf to anyone paying should be perfectly legal, amarite?
-
Calling for freedom for Victor Bout is the most ridiculous statement I have ever seen on these forums. I guess as long as someones seen to be acting against the USA their crimes don't matter to certain people here.Nah, I think it's more like "He stole something? Everybody steals! Get those guys!" kind of argument. Of course, some people are butthurt just because USA have him, but that's quite expected.

I'm reading into it and it's weird. Funny but weird. I has good moment though. You know this game where everyone have ballon and loosing it means you're out? Those schoolgirls play it as well. Just with real guns and live ammo. Fourteen: "Brats, you're not only ones that can use fullauto!" <sprays bullets just about everywhere>. Oh and teachers, professor Garand and headmaster Springfield?
But I still don't seem to understand black T-Back joke.
[edit]
Indecent techniques and full auto sniping. It just got weirder

Black T-Backs included?

CO doesn't work as it should probably because you launch CO via Steam. You shouldn't. Just launch Arrowhead alone and it will find ArmA2 content by itself (you may need to launch ArmA2 once before, for it to be registered).
This way you will have access to WORKING in-game mod manager, unlike in case of Steam launched CO.

Exactly. Add no bad localizations, no retarded local DRM (yes, I mean you, 1C Company!), no need to put in DVD (yes, I'm THAT lazy), games you'd never see in retail store (Golden Axe, hell yeah!). Plus ocassional -75% specials, when you can buy a good game for less than you would pay for a crate of beer.
Download time hardly matters. I can set download before going to work, and game is ready for me once I'm back. And that only the first time, since as hoarder by nature I keep backup data of my ALL games in external HDD. Proved usefull more than a few times.

That's the entire point of this video/campaign. To make Kony famous enough for someone important enough to kill him. And really, no one olther than 10 expects president to send Navy SEAL squad / MEU / airstrikes into hostile territory because he's a nice guy and want to clear world out of evil-doers. He'll do it only if there's good buisness in this either for him or for his country (so, indirectly, also fir him).
There will be presidential election in US in November, so timing isn't bad either.
-
No, it's my bad. I completely forgot, you need to be logged in to download stuff.
Thanks.

Well, the thing is dev-haeven links lead to blank pages (unless I missed something), and Armaholic ones are only graphic tweaks.

I'm looking for PROPER addons for ArmA2, no OA. Seem like all hosting sites switched to OA variant.

I left her arrest till after sweaping area, since extraction is hardly possible before, as CDF Mi-24 tends to ignore waypoint and goes hunt Chedakis.
Couldn't find her at first, looked in any place mentioned and between them, finally found her car. Seem she was hit by some vehicle and her Golf exploded killing her. Guess I have to start entire mission from scratch. Damn.
Anyway, the idea is to include some kind of failsafe, so objective gets cancelled if she is killed before Razor Team reaches her, both as way to "clear" objective and as warning I should have load game if I want this objective to be completed.

I get more FPS on Chernarus in OA than in AA2 at the same settings.Oposite here. When running in-game benchmark mission in AA2 (the one with massive battle) with 1440x900, 5km view and all options maxed out, I get acceptable 19-22 fps, while when launching this one in OA it's 11-13 fps, so perfomance hit isn't small for me.

It's all down to lifestyle and experience. That comical Taliban in turban and dish-dash has a lifetimes experience of death, illness and suffering, killing animals for food etc. How does your average urban European/American soldier stack up to that? Train and equip them equally and we would lose. It's not a rifle that kills, it's the hard heart behind the rifle. You might call them sociopaths, some of them might be, most just have the balls and life experience to get the job done.Military training is not only about weapons and tactics, it's also fair dose of brainwash. Beign a farmboy myself I'm used to kill animals, including cute puppies but I would never kill any for fun. But while in army I really wanted to kill someone. Beign afraid of heights from kid, my mind was almost getting BSoD when paradroping for the first time. And even if almost every time I was close to shit myself I would do as I'm told, because orders were like words of God himself for me.

Ironically only war FPS that put anti-hero on player's side (and even allowed player to become one) was Call of Duty 5. In that game we see our squad leader, Reznov executing POWs, and burning them alive with molotovs. And before latter asking if player want to kill them himself, if player refuse, Reznov is visibly disappointed. It's quite clear this war is for him nothing but vengance and he wants to kill as many as he can before it ends.
In fact, I can't really remember other war FPS even close as brutal as World at War.

Yes. Mostly highly trained ex special forces or in the halo of special forces, not the "regular" airborne trooper.Sometimes, not mostly. You don't need "tier-one operator" to babysit workers, guard the gate, or just to make sure locals won't try to steal from you. Mostly those guys do same job as "normal" security, except with rifles instead of handguns and better pay of course. In fact when friend of mine, before joining French Foreign Legion, considered joining one British company (sorry, forgot name), all they did request was driving licence, no criminal background, and ANY kind of military service, beign conscript for one year was good enough.
People have some twisted view on PMCs work because when saomeone says "PMC" people think "Blackwater" and "Fallujah", since they don't know Blackwater's action during war often had little to do with what Private Millitary Companies are supposed to do.

Not all missions allow swappng between character, it depends on mission design. Also, for some reason Warfare disables Team Switch, not sure bug or by design.
Vehicle ammo crate is special ammo crate that, other than having A LOT machinegun ammo inside, can also rearm all vehicles, from HUMMVEE to A-10. Reammo truck works same way, except it's mobile.
If you have already took a village you should build a base, the simpliest way after it's done is to buy an an ammo truck. If your empty soldier is a vehicle it's enough to get him close to truck and he'll rearm automatically. If it's infantrymen you should get him close to truck, select him (F1-F10), and press 6 (context based orders) - Rearm at truck (Ai will rearm himself), or even better Gear (to load him manually).
If it's SP you may be intrested in ASR_AI mod, it provide many features (if you don't like some, those can be disabled), including AI autorearm. Once low on ammo and not under fire, AI will grab more ammo from crates, vehicles, dead bodies, without beign told so. Makes life so much easier.
