New Update - Can't resume campaign

I can understand incompatible savegames, but isn't it rather weird for update to remove entire campaign progress as well?

    Moral Fiber - failed help

I had same issue, and noticed mission failure message appears soon after explosion around immobilized Hunter. My wild guess is it's timer after which friendly infantry is killed by explosion, supposely shell fired from immobilized Kuma (seriously, using these made up names still feels weird). The issue is, it happens even after tank is killed (bugged condition?). Another note, once explosion happened after checkpoint was cleared (like a second later), but didn't result in Mission Failed message, probably because achieving primary objective disables failure contition.

    Tipping point mission

Mortar fire isn't bad idea, it's idea of it following player that's bad. There should be condition to start shelling, which would be engaging BlueFor squad by CSAT paratroopers ("stealth" + "don't fire" to attempt to sneak past them first) And there should be 2 conditions for mortar to stop adjusting fire: killed enemy Squad Leader, so he won't relay new coordinates, or getting closer to CSAT paratroopers than given distance (say 150m).
  4. I have another theory. Why would CSAT risk WW3 to recover machine they created? They sure have blueprints, and even if NATO would copy it, in strategic sense it's just yet another WMD. What if Miller and his team ultimately didn't work for UK, but were bought by a third party (ION?) to use UK undercover mission to obtain device for them? Someone powerfull enough to use contacts within AAF to make them retreat from winning battle (Camp Maxwell). By events of Win, already confirmed rouge, and thus considered hostile. Superpowers don't really need such weapon, but it would be a godsend for private armies, terrorists or some small countries, that don't have to worry about igniting M.A.D. with their WMD attack. Whole flashpoint on Stratis could have been ignited by Miller, or other rouge agents to providing oportunity to steal device. Mike-26 was destroyed, because establishing communication with NATO would result in ceasefire and end conflict. Attack on Agia Marina was meant to kill off members of Aegis, trapped in town, waiting for reinforcements to never show up, but sudden involvement of CSAT made Miller scavenge what left, and use it to reinforce FIA on Altis. Despite clearly having communication with NATO on Altis, Miller didn't inform them there are survivors from Task Force Aegis. Artillery position in "Beyond Recognition" which Kerry was tasked to silence was guarded by Special Forces, coincidence? Miller was helping FIA, and later sabotaging NATO operations to prolong war between NATO and AAF, giving him more time to locate and aquire device. They had to rush attack, and nearly got wiped out because war was basically over, and CSAT was about to pull out their research operation. Reason for CSAT to invade at full force was because they suddenly ran out of options, when they realised device was missing.
  5. ACR "Lite". I believe ArmA 2 Free was never actually supported as Combined Operations component
  6. Issue with ACR is, it depends on both ArmA2 and Operation Arrowhead, so "lite" can't be simply included with patch, that is same for everyone, because not everyone have ArmA2.

    Ukraine General

Technically he didn't lie, since Russian soldiers didn't operate as part of Russian Army, but with their coat of arms removed, making them unlawful combatants.

So because setup referendum, hastly organized with "help" of Russian forces, under constant show of force and heavy propaganda war (with Ukrainian TV turned off, gee I wonder why?), where people weren't even allowed to vote aganist separation? Sure worked in past, so why not?

    Ukraine General

So that's how Russians reason goverment control over media, huh? "There's no guarrancy free media aren't biased, so why need for free media anyway?". Makes sense. I'm guessing payback for doing same with Ukrainian media in Crimea even before official annexation of region. Did they stop all TV channels, or just some? My Russian isn't what it used to be, sadly.

    Ukraine General

Not suprising. It's pretty normal to look for allies, under current circumstances. Let's not forget not so long ago Russia exercised bombing campaign aganist Sweden. @Smurf It's already established, that claims about Russia not using army in Crimea was just ballant lie Protect from what? Living in different state? We live in era of citizen states, where borders don't have to reflect population placement. And how this "protecting" required attacking Ukrainian bases, and trapping and capturing Ukrainian fleet based there? When argument of "joining nation with motherland" is brought up, it's usually just excuse to wage war of agression.

We will see it now. Sending proposition this outrageous in name of Duma can damage Russia's international image even more. Reaction is given. If he's put in his place by his superiors (chairman, president or prime minister) it's likely just him messing around.

Yeah, it seem to. Russia will grab whatever it can without going full war. NATO will establish new defensive line near border of Russian controlled territory, though exact place is hard to predict, whatever it will be Ukraine or Moldova/Poland, depends if Russia decide to invade before that happens. Possibly new arm race, this time Russia won't be outclassed, mostly thanks to America outstretching it finances over war in Afghanistan and constant bumping of healthcare, welfare and other social spendings. Pretty good time to start it actually. Interesting enough, Zhirinovsky is at it again, and this time he proposes divide of Ukraine not as private person, but in offical letter from Russian Duma to Polish, Bulgarian and Hungarian ministries of foreign affairs. It seem less and less like bad joke, and more like testing ground for actual proposition.

[bBC] http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26627236 http://www.moldova.org/russian-diplomat-moldova-joins-eu-nato-transnistria-will-come-along/ Seem like Moldova is next in line to be "liberated" by Russian Army. Fun Fact: Russian Army in Transnistria started as peacekeeping force, and were to leave in 2003 as agreed at Istanbul OSCE Summit in 1999, but Putin didn't feel like honoring Yeltsin's deal. Not the only one.

"Want" as "Has buisness with, worth trouble". Politics is buisness, and if anyone thinks it has anything to do with justice or what people wants, is dead wrong. Ukraine is easy target, since it has no allies. Question is, if gains would be worth going to war with it. Kosovo is screwup in its own leage. KFOR presence was more than enough to prevent violence, but no. EU had to show how incompetent and short-sighted socialist democracies can be, and it seem like they'll make same stunt with Palestinians in future. Because who cares about consequences, when you can be re-elected by acting holier than thou.

Let's be honest. If they want what Russia wants it will be granted. If they don't, it will be forced. This is how things work when strong is asking weak for opinion. Well, Crimean Russian had better reason to join Russia than just nationalist sentiment. As you probably know, natives of Crimea, Crimean Tatars were forcefully removed from Crimea, deep into Russia in late 40s. All their property was left there and either confiscated or given to Russian settlers. As result of glasnost descentants of those who survived started to return to "land of fathers". Their legas status wasn't regulated, under Soviet Union they weren't allowed to return, but there's no Union anymore. Should their status be straighten up by Ukraine, it could lead to them having legal claims to property left there (similary to Jews after WW2), and no one really knows, how many Russians it could affect.

If so, then why they didn't want observers in the first place, and held it at gunpoint? Answer is, "because they could". It was setup out of convinience. Moscow didn't even pretend it was real, because they knew they can get away with it. And they did.

    A quantum leap - Arma 4

Oh yes comrade Comissar, so much this. So many good things can come out of this > ballanced weapons - m16 is light and ammo is light but individual round lacks power, M14 is powerfull but heavy, AKM is somewhere in between > no thermal imaging sights > NVs avaliable either as bulky aiming devices or scopes > no individual radios > variety of ballanced tanks > no fire-and-forget missiles > balanced AT weapons: recoiless have short range, MCLOS guidance it quite touchy, SACLOS are new and rare. > air defence based on AAAs, ZSU-23-4, M163, M-55 12.7mm, ZPU-4 14.5mm, MANPADS are only tail-chasers with limited effectiveness As for scenario, why not make real crisis go awry? * after Cuban revolution, Castro responds to American threats calling for Soviet support, America reacts with Grenada-style invasion despite Soviet soldiers beign already in Caribbean region. * Cuban missile crisis ends with American forces invading Cuba, Soviet Union responds by invading Turkey. * Soviet invasion in Czecholsoviakia meets armed resistance, due to active help from NATO. In long run it causes active military conflict near Czechoslovakian-West Germany border. This scenario would have advantage of primary role beign played by Bundeswehr and British Army of the Rhine. Not playing as Americans AGAIN would be great too.

    An Honest Review

Other problem is perfomance thing. Since tons of stuff in ACE is script powered, it takes more precious CPU power, not to mention things start getting clunky if perfomance drops significantly, like immersive scopes or tank FCS that can load up to several seconds. Inb4 "buy better PC lolz"

    harvest red story question (SPOILER)

It's also possible Kirilin oversteped his orders when supporting ChDKz, or/and wasn't aware who really bombed Kremlin, in result ended up betraying his own country unwilingly, and everything that followed was more and more desperate attempt to cover things up. Or his team was abondoned by Russian command like Razor Team in Missing In Action ending, and he was trying to capture and deliver Lopotev himself to prove his innocence. CDF getting zerged by ChDKz is cuscene itself, Armstrong mentions UMSC landing on Utes during his speach. First single mission covers retaking CDF training facility at airport
  20. I liked how it worked in Vietcong . There were 2 effects:Loud weapon would reduce hearing sensivity. When using "hush puppy" (supressed S&W 39 pistol) player would hear even case falling into grass, while going full auto with AK would make him deaf to anything less loud than a gunshot for several seconds. Explosions caused temporary deafness even to gunshots and whistle lasting several seconds. Effect depended on power of explosion and its proximity.

Syria - What should we do if anything?

That's not even that. Syrian army have working chain of command, usage of nerve gas would require clearence likely all way from presidental level. If goverment would start using sarin or anything similar, that would suggest they're either desperate and have nothing to lose, or Goverment and it's military's chain of command already fell apart, and generals can do whatever they want without fear of any consequences. On the other hand, rebels have many factions within, even if most woudn't even consider usage of gas, it's very possible some of them would go rouge and use nerve gas if given chance. Or trade it on black market for normal weapons. "No proof" gas attacks might be in fact test run to see how others will react if gas is used. If reaction will be as is now (hot air), it will mean it's safe to use it on wide scale. What more, both side might use it in flase flag attacks as part of propaganda war. What a mess.
  22. Officially game is 16+ and let's stop here. Unless player gives us reason, we won't question his age. Let's just say "don't ask, don't tell" applies here too.
  23. Works fine for ArmA2 vehicles, but seem to not affect Arrowhead ones. Dunno why. Changing armor multiplier for every wheel in hitpoint section of config worked though. What I find weird is damage taken by wheel affect other wheels even at the other end of vehicle. With Armor=0.45 First wheel on Humvee disintegrates after ~20 5.56mm, but every next takes ~7 rounds. Anycase, works good enough :)
  24. Have anyone made addon to improve durability of tires in wheeled vehicles? Shooting up tires to force crew out of armored Humvee or BRDM is way too exploitable.

New to ARMA and pc gaming help?

It's completely up to mission designer. Pure PvP modes like Domination aren't far from ones you've seen in BF, but due to all powerful editor some people make entire campaigns playable in coop, or TvT mission, where one side have their mission objectives, and other try to prevent them from completing mission. There are also sandbox games like DayZ or Wasteland. Public servers usually use common game modes and build-in missions, but many clans have their own servers for, example 50+ players coop missions, or large scale TvT. Generally, since there's fully functional mission editor, any gametype is possible. Usually 2-3 medium (eg. 5.56mm) bullets is enough to put you down. Full rifle rounds (7.62 NATO and such) have decent chance for 1 shot kill on unarmored target, even without headshot. If medic module is enabled, when badly wounded you're unable to fight, at best able to slowly drag yourself and blindfire, untill you bleed out, get patched by medic or at least by other teammember (you won't recover health in that case). Some mods use their own player damage system. You can always download demo, or even better check ArmA2 Free, MP-only version. Free of charge, but don't support usermade modifications, and don't have content added in Arrowhead expansion,
