What is the large red circle on the map?
viper[cww] replied to Magirot's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Were you playing escape the island (Stratis) coop mission by any chance? We've just finished playing that and noticed it followed us where ever we went, we came to the conclusion it was following the Group Leader. And yes, I think it is a handle to show you the current area you could be in, checking the map for landmarks and checking the area will help you to narrow down your exact coordinates. -
I think that's got more to do with the point that your Blain Cooper.
-
I expect it to be strong, but nothing compared to games centered around PvP. ArmA is best played in coop imo.
-
Nope, there has never been such a feature, unless played at expert/veteran difficulty, you could edit your difficulty settings to at least remove some of the hud elements (options>game>difficulty). Another trick would to be 90 degress to the area you want to take a picture then using free look, in first person of course. Edit: Ok apparently there has been such a feature :D (though not by pressing a key such as games like gw2)

I think the AI is vastly improved, they have handed my ass to me on more then one occassion, it's actually scarier to engage them now as they WILL do anything they can to flank you, which is the outcome off 99% of engagements if you don't put them all down first time.
-
Now now, it would be foolish to even compare ArmA 3 to BF3... :p
-
Can the same be said of previous titles with bipods? ;) Yeah I remember Dwarden saying something of the like, but I also remember some Devs passing it off saying it's not a needed feature. Since a tonne of mods have implemented it, then it would sure be lazy of BIS if they do not.
-
As of this moment there are four, much the same as in previous titles, HitHead, HitBody, HitHands and HitLegs, all of which can be customised to present a certain amount of armour. Not sure on bullet damage as there isn't a full wiki on them. Armour also does make a difference, Helmet/Vests all have an armour rating , while clothing does not.

Should ARMA III have a better ranking system?
viper[cww] replied to ArmyCorps's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
During the singleplayer campaign, the player will take the role of a British Special Forces soldier, Captain Scott Miller. Initially, the player must survive on their own after friendly forces are defeated in a failed NATO operation. During the campaign, the player will face everything from lone wolf infiltration missions to the commanding of large scale armored operations. The player will be able to choose different objectives and weaponry (such as UAVs, artillery, and air support) according to their play style. Taken from the wiki which has been available since ArmA 3 was announced, have you been hiding under a rock? NATO is a lot more then just US, US makes up a small part of many many countries within NATO, FYI I am British not European (If that's what you were getting at regarding my last comment). ______ At least I do hope BIS will be focusing on s different primary nation for ArmA 3, god knows they've used the US enough as is. Which leads me on to the units themselves, are they actually noted as being US? I think they're labelled as Blue in the editor. Equipment means nothing since it's the future. -
Character modding - Undefined base class "SoldierGB" - need help
viper[cww] replied to jimutt's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS - CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Strange, as many of the released units so far use that as a base class. -
Should ARMA III have a better ranking system?
viper[cww] replied to ArmyCorps's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Since the campaign primarily evolves around a british soldier, they should use the proper british ranking system imo. -
Hilarious bug I found when the alpha first released.
-
It would be helpful if we could also go prone on hills without auto standing up aswell. On a non-related note, some asshat decided to hack the BIS server, Dwarden posted all info here.
-
I just wish they would make a new heal animation, and they more then likely will.
-
Kewl!! There was a similar release last week, maybe we could combine the two?? -SAT-Render-Map
-
Nah, it's overkill. That will only ever be seen used by civilians to get the adrenaline pumping. The EBR version of the M14 we have now is more than perfect.
-
There have been a couple of Insurgency maps up, and that was a couple of days after alpha released. Not sure if there is an uploaded version though. Just filter Insurgency, and you should come across a german server.

No animation on changing firing modes. Bug or feature?
viper[cww] replied to the_player's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Derp. Stupid statement is stupid, Nobody referenced any other animation times, nobody mentioned scopes... only you. And FYI I've never played ArmA in PvP and never well. Edit: Actually what you said was just full on flame-bait... shame on you. -
It's fine, I was holding off from this storm of units anyway, looking at a beta release. From what I've seen so far yours are nice, though I'm personally not a fan of the green foliage version. Oh and same goes for the A-TACS LE camo as a whole, looks to silly to work as a real camo to me, the standard A-TACS is perfect for urban area's in itself.

Should i buy this game, or should i wait atleast for the beta ?
viper[cww] replied to Dimebag's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I see only a few guys with low post-count, you seem to be doing what you told others not to. -
Awww damn... Sucks you released an A-TACS version (for me), been working on all the different variations on it for a few days, guess I'll be keeping them in the clan after all. Good job!

No animation on changing firing modes. Bug or feature?
viper[cww] replied to the_player's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
When I want to quickly change firemodes in the haste of cqc, the last thing I want is to wait for an animation to tell me I selected the next firemode. Server lag could make said animation last longer then usual in some cases. No to animation yes to sound (bit like ACE has) and yes to adding a third function of safety, say shift + f or the default key ACE uses. -
Will Opfor speak Farsi in the retail version?
viper[cww] replied to fujix's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I noticed that, I do hope you drop crowe's voice, he's way too familiar for most of us to make the game immersible. :D -
I wish people appreciated bootnecks more :D... Cool release!
