    something like good old malden/everon. or Chernarus, but upscaled to full-dimension island w/o serious limitations. probably slightly mixed/morphed with jungle at edge. Sakhalin island ? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakhalin all kind of terrain/climate, including sub-tropic :P).

    interesting, how does its compete with LargeSystemCache and IOLockLimit, tweaks, combination on large-ram[8Gb and 16Gb]-systems ?[in nmbrs].
  5. IMO, in recent PC's configurations[exept guys with "nearly intergated"/notebook GPU's], most limiting factor is CPU speed and GPU onboard memory. so in you case i suggest consider switching to multi-core CPU or do moderate overclocking[if you can't afford that].
  6. first tweak - increase limit of threads[handy for multi-core PC's/Servers], active. second - [dramatically]increase amount of RAM, used for IO ops["in short"]. and thus - give solid throughput performance boost. both made by creating[don't forget to backup you registry tree or edited part at least]non-existent[by default]entries in Windows registry. and yes, you can find details by googling this tweaks names. probably you find SGI or IBM -made articles, describing how they use[among other things]this to tweak their servers.
  7. exactly. single GTX560/GTX570 is maximum needed for Arma2 GPU, IMO. probably in next versions, GPU's was put into good use -)

    imo, cleanrock[aka crCTI]was better than stock "When diplomacy fail". most popular for non-hardcore players was Benny edition[latest was 0.68]. both was reasonably-tweaked Mike Melvin mfCTI port aka "When diplomacy fail". also popular was DVD fork, AWP and few others. but most played was BE Warfare.

SPb factory will completely be comverted to trains production factory or something like that.

    not so fast, IMO. military contractors have higher priority, seems. maybe in new, huge patch or new stadalone add-on, who know ? p.s. haters gonna rule hated helicopters soon :P
  15. "simply wrong" isn't argument or fact. and clearly bad manners indication. point is this is ... game :) not ask gameplay be SO serious/real-life-alike in commercial game :-)

    got [probably]FADE'ed on licensed copy after patch apply once[forgot which. 1.07 or 1.08, unsure]. after reinstall-repatch, weird things disappear[wonder for how long :-/].

    imo: 1. get 16Gb. apply IOlockLimit tweak, increase SuperFetch agressivness. 2. get 7200RPM harddrive[not WD] or 10000 RPM harddrive. 3. upgrade you GFX with more ram onboard. like swapping 5870 1Gb toward 6970 2Gb or GTX570/560 with ~ one Gb into double-sized counterpart. 4. collect/store cash for upcoming new AMD CPU's[promised perf boost Arma2 should enjoy, being extremely CPU-hungry :-].

    after i do market survey and seem tons of LCD monitors, including really expensive ones, at price of cheap car, i really conclude thats still nothing good for gaming as good 20''-22'' CRT. even [overpriced and overpromoted]S-IPS monitors not impressive anyway :[ buy THAT ? no, thanks :-/ p.s. no color[24-bit color isnt perfect even for xVA/IPS screens, let alone TN], stoneageold-resolution, ridiculous refresh, dangerous[4 eye] backlight[in non-Led-monitors] and etc and etc.

    "would be"!="can be" is "anyone should be happy on this little planet, nobody harm anyone and we're live peacefully in atmosphere of love and harmony united" can be, but would it be ? porting year-old game to seven-old hardware. you nuts ? no offense. for such goals different engine[probably KillZone3 or GoW strip. depend platform]can be licensed and crippled/twisted/dumbed countent/storyline/comaign can be pumped into. but thats expensive, questionably commercially successful[loot at BIS sales at PC platform. such kind of games on "consoles" never had ANY sales at all. NEVER in history].

    good intro. and if Arma2 include add-on with ground-based semiactive[LD -guided]Hellfire missile launcher or similary-capable[predator, global hawk, new Navvy UAV bomber]UAV or even laser-pointed Atacms round for M270, its could be even easier/deadlier -)

    i will apreciate definitely good intentions/suggestions about improving Arma2 physics[hearts speaks, definitely]and could agree thats Arma2 physics wasn't perfect, if can be counted at all, but ... nature of VR engine generation thats physics really,really really hurt rest part of gaming environment in terms of resources consumptions. you can perfectly scale textures, geometry, sounds, lights LoD's, but [effectively. w/o realism or fairplay suffering impact]can't do same with physics. another point - accepting/licensing 3rd-party stuff into project is one of worst ideas/decisions. even if you buy it with developers. and btw from 3rd-part physics, NVidia was better. not [slowed to crawl in development]Havok or Bullet.
