    Arma 3 Constructive Critiques

    Default controls are terrible. I had to spend a good while in the controls before i got them just right for me. The ACE mod for arma2 introduced a "hop" features. Same key but if you were sprinting and pressed V it would do a little hand on the ledge hop over. if moving slow, it would do the normal quiet step over. Perfect. Server controls exist, the reason you're having issues atm is because we're either hosting them locally, or our "dedicated" servers are simply full copies of the game with a -server tag. When we get our proper dedicated server files we'll get the server controls. So that IS something that is coming. all the target spotting crap, we get rid of all that and the interface rubbish. We like to play it "milsim" but thats a personal preference. Nice post though! Anything BI miss, the modders wont. To most of the arma crowd the only thing a new arma release gives us is, engine improvements and the editor. The actual game, we make in the way we want to play it. And for me, id want it no other way.

    Grenades,rag doll,run speed and weapon change

    I feel the sprint (standing and crouched) is the right speed however the tactical run (standing, with weapon down) is too fast. for both player and AI. Agree with grenade throw, too arcady. A dedicated button is great, but you should reach for your webbing, grab one then throw it. I thought the movement speeds in arma2 were fine. The thing we were missing was a between jogging and walking speed (ie tactical glide) With our current speed capability. The map quickly starts to feel much smaller.
  5. My god! the micro terrain changes thing. It makes a 1KM square piece of arma3 terrain more feature rich and interesting than a 60KM square piece of arma2 map!
  6. While i appreciate and am impressed with the speed you're porting A2 content. In my mind I'd rather we focus on producing new content for arma3 from the ground up using in particular our higher graphics budget available. I've got arma2 and If i want to play some chernarus insurgency, I can go fire it up and throw it on our arma2 servers. We're not intending to all change to arma3 (until its stable enough to do so!) and I'd personally like to see a fresh start with things designed specifically for arma3. Just my 2C, I certainly think you're doing a great job. But will everyone just drop all this stuff once the good arma3 content starts rolling in? I feel it will be popular for 2-3 months. But then be dropped as mods start surfacing. Do you think it might hinder development of new stuff? Because its just "easier" to copy it over from arma2? Anyway, good job mate! No offense intended!

    Combat pace only applies to jogging.

    I use shift/double shift for walking/toggle walk. I use spacebar for sprint. and the C remains for weapon up or weapon lower combat pace. Z and X remain the same for prone and toggle crouch/stand. and iv kept CTRL for moving through advanced stances. Its working pretty well. Different from arma2 but it remains familiar and comfortable to use.
  8. We didnt even run battle eye or any anti cheat server till arma2 hit the public eye with dayZ. That wasnt the only culprit but in the first 3-4 years of arma2. hackers and griefers and trolls only appeared at MOST once a week on a public server. Now, you almost cant run a public server without 24/7 admin coverage and a powerful anti cheat and admin tool set. All this does it hurt the community as servers get more and more locked down and private. Forcing you to join a clan to play arma and eliminating a good public community. Can't wait for dayZ stand alone to drag everyone away! Though now we have wasteland too :/

    Which version will you be buying?

    Unfortunately I'll only be able to afford the Alpha version. Im in a bad place financially. I would certainly love to get that supporter edition though.
  14. I personally prefer scenario missions. With a briefing. objectives. A few sneeky on the fly frago objectives you may/may not trigger. With an end. Play it organised and tactical then call it a night. That said I do really love fallujah insurgency.

    If you're unwilling to make this ace compatible (I understand) Can you at the very least make sure its not ACE incompatible? It would be a crying shame to alienate such a large potion of the community just because of a personal dislike. All that said, this mod is looking fantastic! A good working DAP will be SWEET!     ArmA3 Wishlist and Ideas

    What i want to see: 64Bit application. We all use 64bit CPUs, we all have more than 4gigs of RAM, let us use it. (dont make us NEED it, but let us choose it :P) Many of us use dual video cards, Please keep this in mind and give us good SLI/CF usage/performance. Multicore, i bet 90% of us playing ArmA2 are on a quad core/quad threaded CPU, more so by release time. Please make use of more than 4 cores. By release time there will be 8-12core CPUs! And make sure the serverside stuff makes good use of 8+ cores and shedloads of RAM, servers will have those resources so use them :D Basically i want the game to use all my hardware to its potential so it runs amazingly.
  17. As always, amazing work on this mod guys. We at USSOCOM Dont have a clue how we even managed to function before this. This mod for me is the biggest thing for immersion and realism. 5 stars guys. thanks.

    ArmA2:Oa Patch 1.54 released!

    i installed the patch on my CO retail disk versions no errors then installed the DLC from sprocket. again no errors. looks great BIS thumbs up. shame you didnt stick a challenger in there though lol :P we are never happy ehy? oh another gripe is the big warehouse buildings on the new map are not enterable. or dont appear to be. this is a big shame imo.

    i get this too as does my entire clan + the 10ish pubbers online atm. no online at all. You would think if it was temporary it would say currently unavailable or something rather than no longer... :S DOOM. hope its fixed soon :/
