3rd person versus Egoshootermode
Xerxes-17 replied to Herbal Influence's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Whenever I am voted admin on the server I play on, I always put the game on expert mode (no 3rd person). This is for the following reasons: 1-The well known see over hills, walls and other obstacles without exposing yourself, which is bull. 2-Makes tanks able to see much better than possible as well a a few meters behind themselves! Tanks are supposed to have poor vision arcs. Tying in from this, the number of rambo tanks are lessened. 3-The command view again is like a personal invisible UAV. So while it is true that you can see via peripheral vision, eitehr drop the dosh for a multi-monitor setup or accept it as a technological limitation. -
Backslash key on my config. Have you looked in your options?

WEll in the new version of warfare, support for utes is added. Having a test run of it today and ahving played an AAS mission on utes, it feels like a happy balance between the players who will want PvP action and those who still like having some ai around.

Well using logitech S5500 camera at 320x200, I find the end result lacking. Using the default arma2 profile provided it's a complete jittery mess. It's like i'm on meth and have late stage parkinsons. Changing the smoothing slider brought negligible change. Also, the inability to "zero" it is problematic as since I am looking at things on the screen the camera will think i am looking down. Need much more polish. edit: The jittering I describe is a consistant up/down jitter that happens about 6+ times a second. Possibly related to the facetracker running only at 20Hz? Ok tried it again this morning with natural light. Could be perception bias but it seemed slightly better. I have flourescent lighting near my computer so that might be a compounding factor to the jitter problem. However jittering was still a massive issue. Just sitting still as much as I can makes the rotX,Y,Z values jump around +/-1 degreee. Less jitter is seen in the XYZ movement, but the X,Y,Z value will +/-.1 . What is sorely needed as others have said is a "zeroing" command. I can easily see players developing neck/back aches if they try to stay in the same posture for hours on end. The lack of a zeroing comand also would help immensely with getting the settings right. Also a deadzone for leaning towards or away needs to be implemented as at the moment I am constantly moving in and out of zoom. Also, does anyone else have a beard? Might be throwing off the tracker, haha. Edit: Also just had the idea of possibly making it be key activated. For instance atm you can press ALT to freelook with the mouse, insead you would freelook using the NOIR software.

So the only way to get this to work is to get this ippcore thing which will either cost me money or last for only 30 days? Is it possible for the devs of this to make a one-click full installer with all needed files?

If anything, RPG7 aiming by the Ai needs to be fixed. It's absolutely atrocious how often they miss. RPG18's are usually better because of this as they at least hit the damn target.

Getting the same problem too.

Did a quick seatch, couldn't find anything else about this... The Mi24 has absymal detection range. Other helo's often can detect targets a few km away, while often I find that the Mi24 needs to be less than a km away to detect a target. Example: TUSK in middile of clear field, Mi8MTV3 detects from roughly 3km away. Mi24 needs to be at 800m before it can lock the target. Please fix ASAP. I love the Mi24 too much to give her up :(

Well neither does the Mi8 have good avionics. Yet it still can see further than 800m. Use the gunner? How? I can only think ofthat working if he is human.

An addition I think that would be frickin sweet is the ability to give squad orders using a mic. Would really up immersion. It wouldn't need to be for all commands, just the imporant stuff like: "ALL, DANGER!" or "ALL, Hold fire!"( or ALL, EJECT! :p ). However I am well aware of the problems associated with voice capture systems. My imagined implementation is that you hold down a button similar to VOIP and you say the command. Also, in config you would reccord a sample of yourself saying the command for the game to compare with rather than a generic sample.
