This might not really help, but for my test mission I'm working on, I issue a command as soon as the mission starts telling the pilot to either "stop" or "get out of the aircraft". -

Since Ace changes so much gameplay (especially with regards to difficulty), how does that affect the settings I set in "Game options"? For instance, in Vanilla Arma2 at the regular difficulty level I went into the profile file and manually edited the AI accuracy down to just 0.3 so I'd have a good chance of survival plus firefights would last longer. Does ACE still use all the settings from the original AI profile or does it user a new one? Thank you :) -

Mike, if this can take me from 22 to 24 fps in wooded areas that would be a dramatic and awesome improvement. D you have t have everything set to "very high" image quality for this to work right? -

This is an easy one (I did a topic search and couldn't find the answer - so)... When I'm making a test map and placing air units, they are automatically fully staffed with AI. How do I make it so a chooper doesn't have a pilot? or maybe no one in it at all when the scenario starts? Thanks! :) -

Thanks for giving me some guidance. I appreciate it very much. However, I'm not seeing it. I started a mission from scratch in the editor, and when I double-click to place a unit for my side, within its properties this is the screen I see... no empty options. No option to have it be missing a gunner or pilot either. I can choose which to be playable, but not to select if they start in it or not. ---------- Post added at 06:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:33 AM ---------- Ahhh. I see. "Empty" as in, not assigned to one side or the other. Since this is BLUFOR vs. OPFOR I never scrolled down far enough to see "empty". Thanks again for the help. :) Sgt.Spoetnik - I'm sorry - I'm usually not an idiot, I was just looking in the wrong place. It made sense to me that it would be in the object properties. -
I know this could be in the beta page, but I wanted to direct people here who might not venture into the beta sub-section. I am blown away by the difference the beta patch made. Nearly all of the problems I've encountered in the game thus far (which I blamed on myself for not understanding - being a newbie) were actually major problems in the game. A quick couple: * I can now drag a guy who's been injured. * I can now see dead people on the ground with blood. * I now have bullet marks left behind. * Optics mode now works as it should (didn't even know it wasn't working right before). * Positional sound actually works. What's surprising is some of the problems had were not even listed as fixes in the patch-log. The difference between this and 1.05 is stunning. What a difference, and I expected very little.

When I try and do the very fun "Downed Helicopter" scenario available from the Armory - if I fail, then game just goes to my dead body and sits there. When I hit escape it won't bring me to the main screen, so the only way to exit is to crtl-alt-deelte, go to task manager and manualy force ArmA2 to close... which really shunks the game. In fact, after my 5th attempt at this, it crashed and now I don't even start as the helicopter survivalist, I'm a guy in a blue shirt on the deck of a carrier. Help! -

Yes, may times I'm a young woman on the deck of a carrier when I'm supposed to be guarding he downed chopper. -
Is there a way to do this now with an instant boost to fps in single player? If so I'm going to have to commandeer my wife's computer.

ughh, no wonder the throttle control is so horrible. Thanks for the numbers! I'll paste them over my settings. -
Sorry for posting such a stupid question. I just need some confirmation on what these do as I haven't quite seen the changes in-game when making adjustments. Do these change the axis sensitivity? Do these change the axis dead-zones? Do these change the axis control limits? Do they do something else? Thanks for the clarification :)

Make sure you die a few times and restart. It worked fine for me 10x then went into this mode. It's very bizarre because it's almost like it "remembered" I'd died in my last round even between rebooting the game. I wonder if maybe the file or something corrupts after it has trouble? It's probably one of my favorite armory missions though - wondering if they're going to come up behind you is super stressful, but wiping them out as they come in from the front is equally fun. -

Thanks. BTW, how does your throttle work for you? I'm having a terible time trying to get mine configured so it works well with both the helicopters and jets. Could I get you to post your X52 profile and your config file? or maybe e-mail them to me? You can pm me and I'll send you my e-mail addy. Thanks! :) ...and what does stick axis mean vs. stick rotate? For example, the z axis doesn't rotate... -
As a new player to the game I say, absolutely buy it. It's incredible.

Until I read an amazing "field report"... I think it was done in PC GAMER? I didn't realize just how perfect this game was for someone like myself. The name "ArmA" was so archaic and meaningless... even though I'm a die-hard simulation fan. So a few weeks ago it went on sale at Best Buy, and even though I've been very sick for months - I had my wife go pick it up for me. As for multiplayer - I'm not sure how friendly it is for newbies. I'm still learning myself. Is that article reproduced anywhere? Now that I have the game I want to re-read it... but I rarely keep more than 2 months of PC Gamers before recycling them.

Go to single player and then choose the armory. Make sure no filters are set and then choosethe Crashed UH-1Y scenario. For some bizarre reason it starts me out dead evertytime and just sits there. Esc key no longer brings up a menu and there's no way to exit out. -

When I'm doing armory quick missions, some weapons are of course on a tripod. Often it's placed in a totally indefensible location for a "defend missinon". Is there a way to drag this stuff around? If not, is there a mod that will allow this? Thanks! :)

I never got permanent iron sites that could also be zoomed. Like I said, some of these aren't listed as problems, but I had them and the beta patch fixed it up. Weird, but I'll take it.

"Crashed UH-1Y" is the exact name of the scenario. Now that I got killed it's back to just leaving me hanging and the game definately hates being ended viat task magaer. -

Now that I installed the beta patch it doesn't crash or leave me hanging. But still, this mission is starting me out as a civilian woman standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
