    Multiplayer vs Delaying the game?

Check out this thread and more specifically my lengthy post which details my thoughts regarding this; http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?107698-One-carrier-multiple-players

    Multiplayer vs Delaying the game?

With that in mind, it wouldn't surprise me none if they would implement MP into this game sooner or later, and in a great way too.

    Original Carrier Command

I understand your arguments, but remember that games of any kind of the era Carrier Command was born in were all basically experiments as much as a game, it still is a fact today actually. It was the childhood era for games and was bound to have its own set of flaws and faults. Despite the points you brought up, Carrier Command was a hit, a ground-breaking accomplishment and showed an outside-the-box kind of thinking.
  4. What did you guys contribute for the contest Bohemia has announced? Mine is the following. "CD-531! Why aren't you at your post? CD-531, do you copy?"

    What did you contribute?

Then if there was another way, what would you have contributed?

Will one be able to walk around the carrier and interact with the crew, just like one can do in the Silent Hunter series?

This would be a wonderful cheat for the remake... er... if you are into cheats. :P

Cool, what was the cheat for the Atari?

    Original Carrier Command

Was it meant to have the same limitations as our carrier in terms of speed?

    Original Carrier Command

I think it was, however any pursuit would be near-impossible because you normally encounter the enemy carrier on an island and if you pursue it, it would outrun you easily since your engines work at about 70-80% within the range of an island whereas the enemy carrier doesn't have this drawback. Although... I distinctly remember the enemy carrier outrunning even a Manta at top speed quite easily, but your carrier only barley accomplishes this feat. I dunno then what to think.

  14. Multiplayer is all well and good, but there's something to be said for games who are either pure single player or has a single player campaign incorporated into it. I personally like to sometimes play on my own and enjoy some quality alone time every now and again. Especially after some infuriating rounds with other people who play like idiots or behave like trolls.

If/when any future add-ons/expansions are made, will they include even more islands with new terrains?
  16. What are your favorite parts of the old classic CC? Did you favor the action game or the strategy game start? Did you like the Assassin missiles or did you prefer the laser or bomb for the Mantas? Was the Chemical laser best or did you get more use from the wired missiles for the Walruses? Did you actually have a use for the refueling pods or did you only deploy the Walruses close to an island and then return them to dock? How often did you use the virus bomb to take over an island? How much use did you have for the protective drones, flares and the recon/Surface to Surface missiles? Was the carrier laser an integral part of any invasion for you? Tell us what was your experience of Carrier Command.

    Original Carrier Command

In an effort to compensate for the lack of multi-unit control I set up an advanced attack on an enemy carrier or defence island by having 2 or more Mantas approach the target in a single line formation on slowest speed with about 5 second intervals. Then when I deem the time to move in has arrived, I take control of the first Manta and make its run and when it has exhausted its ammo, I set it on autopilot on a preset position near my carrier on maximum speed. Then I move on to the next Manta and do the same thing until either the mission is accomplished or the Mantas all run out of ammo.

    Original Carrier Command

Cool. I was afraid that it had this semi-god mode where it wasn't able to run out of anything. But this totally completes the strategy experience. As a kid I never thought of this, just to capture islands and to kill the enemy carrier if/when I encounter it. Today, especially after playing many strategy games, I implemented said strategy and it worked wonders :) The game just got more awesome than I have ever viewed it.

    Original Carrier Command

My tactic was to load every Manta I had available with missiles and then send them all to an area a good distance behind the enemy carrier, so they already were in a good intercept spot when it starts to retreat. Almost invariably the carrier would retreat towards the direction it came from, assuming its facing towards the island when attacking is an indication of its origin, hence this tactic. When they are in position, I start to advance the Mantas towards the carrier, one at a time, but so they all were heading towards it. Then I unload all missiles at it till it is destroyed. I am curious about one other thing. I was playing the game again, in an emulator for Atari ST, a while ago and after a certain point it seemed as if the enemy's attacks stopped altogether. I'm wondering, Gadgetmind, was it possible to cut off the enemy carrier's supply lines to the point that it got stuck in the middle of the ocean or on a "dry island" with no fuel and no munitions? Or was it a glitch of some sort? I'm asking since it was part of my strategy, to cut him off while protecting my own islands, but I also had this lingering suspicion that you had programmed the enemy carrier to not run out of stuff.

    Quite right
  22. Great ideas Turtle-guy
  23. I think that the Commander should configure the outfitting of the Mantas and Walruses as it is his/her attack plan the other players are going to follow, not to mention that there will be AI controlled (and therefore under the Commander's direct control) units. Players should simply jump into a vehicle they want to play with to either get the kills, repair points or other things. If Manta or Walrus players are free to customize their vehicles then what is the point of having a Carrier Commander?
  24. Will there be any sort of missions that take you indoors, like into a command center complex or something, during the story campaign? If so, will there be for the "Action Game" mode as well?
