using large page memory mapping, for increased performance
St. Jimmy replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Yeah what the flag means? Some more information about what you said would be very welcome. -
Getting back into sound modding, need feedback on sounds
St. Jimmy replied to megagoth1702's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Nice. Wasn't there some "aaaah" shout in A2 when you got hit? Some hit scream/shout on top of that and it will be very nice system -

Current dev branch doesn't like the registry tweak part: I needed to change it back to 0 or my game would crash on launch. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=22315 -
Arma3 and the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (memory allocation > 2GB)
St. Jimmy replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Seems like something is already happening in the dev branch? http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=22315 I couldn't launch the game until trying multiple times. I needed to disable this thing: use regedit to create/set DWORD value 'UseLargePages' = 1, for key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\arma3.exe] And now things work again. -
I made a ticket about can't launch the game issue: http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=22315 /solved: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?177454-a-simple-registry-tweak-for-increased-performance&p=2858171&viewfull=1#post2858171

Arma3 and the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (memory allocation > 2GB)
St. Jimmy replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Well at first just watch the file how long you get LP without fallback. Check from the malloc_xxxx file that is in your Arma 3 folder that you know (time when it was modified should hint you that) that you fresh restarted to see the best result. If it was quick fallback like in a couple of seconds then something isn't right. I just run 600s session with my 8GB RAM flying around with camera all around Altis opening/cosing zooming in/out my map without fallback but I'm not sure how long 6GB can run without fallback. /There's 3-5fps difference between using and not using tbbmalloc for me in Altis benchmark. -
Good that I'm not the only one. Yep the game crashes instantly with or without launcher. Arma 3 loading logo doesn't even show. So no RPT or crash files in Arma 3 appdata. Could've been happening already yesterday I'm not 100% sure did I even launch the game then but the day before was working fine at least. Stable no problems so it's dev issue.
-
Was there update today because I can't even launch the game even without parameters? /Aaaand seems like there was according to the changelogs. Let's see :D Anyone else? //Weird it was maybe my windows doing something. Took an update and now it launches. ///Restartiing computer and same thing is happening WTF. Maybe it was just a luck after 10 launches... ////Stable works dev doesn't so something isn't right in this update.

Arma3 and the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (memory allocation > 2GB)
St. Jimmy replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Have you checked the malloc_xxxx file from your Arma 3 root to see that it works and for how long? -
Oh nice I haven't seen that. Just like it should be done in Arma, outer is PiP and inner is normal to save performance and because current PiP wouldn't be enough good for scopes(?).

Nice post. Too bad that there weren't many Patreons :( I feel bit bad about my $2,50/month when the avg was over $5 :D

Kunduz, Afghanistan (10km) [WIP]
St. Jimmy replied to james2464's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I can see some small ditches and elevation changes which is great especially for PvP. Can't wait! -
Only option for me is to bridge the router. You might also have a bad luck wth the router so that can be the only option... Unless you can LAN with some program but I haven't tested how those works with Arma.
-
Well they've worked a lot on those "performance binary" servers so i bet it's mainly about MP.
-
Now that they tweaked it I can see it's in. Weapon sway is in sync with breathing. With breath holding it naturally doesn't work and I'll guess hold breath will get an overhaul later.

Why I will never buy any of your games ever again.
St. Jimmy replied to bez's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Sorry if I upset you that much. It's just a meme. I edited the post... But arguments? I didn't see any arguments in that post. All I can say you can get better performance in BIS games but you've to make "sacrifices" and OC the shit out of your rig to get nice results. I don't mean that the bad performance is totally players fault and BIS shouldn't give any better performance. If your meme really was an argument then i7 and GTX 900 series should perform better than 10fps especially if CPU is overclocked unless the server and mission are really crappy. -

Let's have some fun :D -
It's a prototype so I'm not sure is it even visible to us. Breathing and gun sway feels bit out of sync still. /// Btw Huron's dis/mount sound is still very weird sounding http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=21268 Pretty annoying to listen with every guy coming in the chopper.

Arma3 and the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (memory allocation > 2GB)
St. Jimmy replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
650s sounds normal and good. I remember getting same results. 8GB can run out quickly. -
Arma3 and the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (memory allocation > 2GB)
St. Jimmy replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Just minimize all the program you're running as start-up. You don't want to open any browser, Spotify, Skype to maximize LP. Just one bigger program open and you can see that kind of a result. -
Well bans do carry over between Arma 2 - Arma 3 - DayZ so you can get banned from Arma 3 if you've cheated on those other games. It wouldn't be first time fro BE to false ban. Wasn't there a false ban wave in Arma 2 when DayZ was pretty popular? Good luck if you didn't cheat.

Arma 3 artificial lighting Problem
St. Jimmy replied to armagamer's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
I can't make lighting to look like that at all. So your specs, video settings and what mods are used? First posts pics don't look too bad until you put NVG on. Doesn't look like that on my screen with NVG. -
Thanks. Sounded much better for me.

Left Control still moves head after unbinding
St. Jimmy replied to TigrisJK's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Left Ctrl head movement isn't the same thing as Left Alt free look. LCtrl moves the head in a different position when you're inside a vehicle. @TigrisJK Check the YOUR_USER_NAME.ARMA3PROFILE File from C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Documents\Arma 3 for this keyFreeHeadMove[]={}; and remove numbers inside {} if there's any. You can open that with notepad.
