    Castle Composition

    Hi folks Something I built a while ago for one of my GR Campaigns and thought I should just release the castle walls as a composition. Not sure how to upload a composition via Steam - search on Google tells me not possible so let me know if there is a way or I'll upload it on Armaholic. Background is, original Ghost Recon had a brilliant map called Castle which featured in missions but was extremely popular for PvP. The key features were walls which you could run around on, towers you could enter and 3 choke points to enter the castle from. Obviously there are no castle walls you can run on in Arma 3 but using some innovation, I flipped some ruin walls around on each and voila. Also towers couldn't be climbed but you will find access to the walls via several wooden staircases and through some small entrances at the base of 2 of the towers (clever use of tower windows ;) ). You will have to crouch as you move between tower doors as they are low overheads, but all in all, it should provide some fun. I left the middle empty so once placed on the map you can fill the castle with things like buildings, fortifications, more castle ruins, etc. Check from 4 minutes for moving across the walls - note if player crouches he will get through the with relative ease.     I i tend to build one or two smaller castle which will fit more readily on maps but still with the same wall walking abilities.

  8. I never release the castle or prison compositions last year - divorce gets in the way of doing shit. So it is on my list to do over the next quarter.
  9. Hiya, this thread is evolving. While I started with Castle Day from Ghost Recon, the WIP is evolving, read on: It's not a whole map that I'm making as such but what one would call a map from Ghost Recon. For those who loved and played the original Ghost Recon, Castle Day was used in a couple of coop missions but was renowned by PvP players as one of the great maps. I knew there were some castle assets in the editor (thanks to CUP team bringing them across to A3) and the Eden Editor makes object placement easy. So I thought I would try and create a solid remake of the map. This is what I have so far after 4 days (or about 10 hours) in the editor. I'd like to put it out there for some PvP testing soon because I can't wait to relive the glory days of Castle Day. Then I'll knock out a couple of Ghost Recon missions on it.     Yup agreed, just wanted to get other views. I have just looked through a few winter maps and reviewed missions from the Frostbite campaign. I can definitely pull a decent campaign together with various maps and locations to provide a good storyline.

    Three missions released in Island Thunder. Question for you players: Next campaign should be an African campaign like Desert Siege remake or a Winter Campaign like Frostbite mod on GhostRecon.net? If you haven't played any of the original GR mods from GR.Net then do yourself a favour! I recommend Frostbite, CentCom, Year of the Monkey for starters!

    Just a heads up - I'm re-releasing Island Thunder 2 as a SP or 6 Player coop - just updating missions as I go now. Mainly reducing AI numbers and just checking that everything is working as expected.

    Yeehaa! Great news, I knew I wouldnt have been that careless. Found the missions in a folder and just having a look through them now. Looks like I've already updated several of them to a 6 player format, in line with Original GR Campaign so as they I check them over I will start reloading them to Steam. Then my plan is to start a new campaign for the ghosts which I will also release mission by mission as opposed to a 3-4 month wait for a whole campaign.

    I think i fucked up - I appear to have lost all of the missions after building a new pc - will see if i can find them - possibly on an old hard drive. I remember opening up mission 1 not so long ago to look at fixing it but can't seem to find it or any of the files now. fingers crossed.

    Why are you using Arma3sync would be my question. Steam is far easier and easier to check whether people are using the right mods, plus auto update of mods.
