  1. you need 2 points in your memory LOD, One is called "Konec hlavne" and it must be at the start from your barrel, the second is "usti hlavne" and belongs to the end of the barrel (the deadly end). The muzzleflasha proxy, that means it´s another model which appears when gun is shot. Have a look at the ArmA1 example models, or seek some user made examples, there u can find all u need.

    Please, can you explain that a little bit more for a Noob? I made a hot-air-balloon but the tilting was too ugly, so i stopped the work. I although had plans for a Zeppelin, but without a solution i never started with it. Maybe you can do a very simple example for us, like an flying box. That would be enough to understand it. Hope that isn´t to much OT.
  4. Hi there! I have a dream since a long time. Porting the awesome Dune II game into the Armaverse. My scripting skills are really bad, so it never started to work with it, because nothing sucks more than getting stopped by own fail on the half way. But now Mondkalb released his magnificent "Window of opportunity". With tears of joy in my eyes i realized that there is a way to do it Sadly i won´t bring out that stuff alone. It´s to much stuff and there is to much Reallife. So i decide to ask for help, maybe there is someone out there who likes the Dune Theme like me. What can i do: Modelling, Texturing, Import the stuff into Game in an limited way (means i can do some basic configs, no advanced stuff) What can i not do: Scripting, Animations, Sound, create worlds What is the idea: A RTS-Addon based on the Dune games\film, mainly Dune II. That means units for 2 or 3 factions, with 2-3 Soldier-units, some vehicles and some aircraft, Buildings like a refinery, factorys and gun-towers. All the units will also be great for sci-fi Missions imo.   5. Didn´t know that there was a similar projekt for ofp. Was it released? Google shows only the youtube video and some forum-talk. I would love to have a look at it. You guys spoke words of wisdom. I´ll start for my own.
  6. Thanks for the nice words. @JDog: Dune II was years before Emperor. It was one of the first RTS. It was a great time for Games, nearly every release was an unique piece of art. swimming in the big lake of memories Bringing all the units from Emperor BfD is madness, cause there are way to much different Models.Also there are flametrowers and other stuff which the engine don´t like.Dune II was more basic. All factions had similar units and one or two special-units, less buildings and so on. @JakeWed: Thanks for the offer. Sound ripping won´t be a problem. But i don´t know howto add voices to units. But that´s the last thing that worry me. Maybe i do one unit the next days to motivate me and others.

    LOD bug

    Without BAF and PMC the textures have this very low level. So you can play online with all the stuff, no matter what you (and others) bought. Those low level textures are for the units, vehicles, weapons and the new islands for BAF and PMC. It´s the same like the "ArmA2 free" version.
  9. Yeah sure, that´s right. But Soldiers are vehicles too for the engine. They have the pilot view ´couse you can see the arms and legs.
  10. Yes,i got the message. But sometimes a model won´t work, no matter what you try. Seems that i can´t help you,sorry. OT: the view-pilot Lod is for vehicles, a glass is none. Have tried this first ofcourse. Good luck with your problem!

Yes, i have made 4 paintball-masks (helmets) and you can choose in the Character-Menü (Where u can change voice\face etc.) I used the AT-glasses too, but i never gave special names in my selections. Also i used only the "1.000 LOD", no geo or anything else. If I were in your shoes, I would copy your model into one from the AT-glasses. When it works seperate it and have a look. Seems easier than searching the proplem for hours and hours. I have a question to, do you know a way how to look "out of your helmet" in first person? I mean something like this: view But not as an overlay-picture, i would love to use the model itself.
  12. Hi ADuke, Your Helmet don´t need a selection name, except you have some parts to name. I guess "head" is not the best choice. Have you used the sample soldiers head (i think it´s name is "bysta.p3d") to orientate? I had a similar fail a few month ago. One weapon was always strange in the hands, corrected it 100 times but it was always the same shit. The proplem were the textures. I made my .paa´s with the photoshop plugin. When i saved it as .tga files with Texview2 and the back to .paa it was fine. I know this sounds strange but hey, it´s Arma. Your config looks nice for me. Have a look what i use (it works fine)
  13. It is the same like Bumpmapping. The Vehicles,Units and most objects use it since Arma 1. But the usage with Ground-textures is new i guess. The Landmass looks much more realistic with all the details.

    I guess the limit will be around 2,3 million polys for each model. Remember some next-gen games have 5000 polys only for their grenades!
  16. You can change the weapon view with some guns. Think it´s "/" in the number field by default. You can have a look in the options to find it if i´m wrong. edit: ok / was very fail.

  18. I´m not sure but the "stage2" part can be deleted. you have already selected an _nohq and in my own rvmat-stuff there is on stage for each part. But i can´t see why it should be transparent. My guess is that there is a turned polygon in the model. You can try to select all points and turn them with "w" and have a look in bulldozer,that´s the only way i know, surely it´s not the best.

    We all love a bit of Duke!

    We all loved the Duke because he was so very unique. A Sequel always destroy big Dreams. Think how Doom III was. Part I+II are still living legends while the third was a kick in the balls. Not because it was a bad game, a legend is always hard to beat. SoF was the same (ok, the 3. was really shitty). What i saw so far was not so different from D3D. Btw, you have the same symptom with OFP and A1,A2.

    ArmA2 for free!

    In Germany ArmA 1 was for free in a magazine at November 2010. So it was 4 years after release. Maybe it´s marketing to sell some OA´s and DLC? And some advertising for coming games like ToH and ArmA 3?

  23. Yesterday i thought to myself: Hey, you don´t touch another game for a long time now, always A2 can´t be the goal. So i reinstalled a few other FPS and get bored after a few minutes.That really surprised me. In the end i played OFP :D. Funny to find this Thread today. There are a lot of things that could be made better in the OFP series, but hey look at other games! So many things you can´t do!

    helicopters hate me

    Hi dokrok5150, welcome on the forum! 1: Your Tank is in formation with you, that means when you are the leader all units in your group follow you, may it be tanks, helis, cows or Tommy the shark. press "space" or whatever is your command key and give the "stop" order to all or just to the driver. 2: Guess flying a heli with a mouse must be a real pain in the ... Try it with your keyboard, better with a gamepad\flightstick. Edit: Don´t really get your point.With auto-hover it should move back and you can only fly very slow (because it´s auto-hovered :p) Landing should be much easier when turned on. Open the editor, create a heli as yourself (you can set it as "flying") and practice a bit. 3: Don´t give up.When the keybindings flow and you gain control over all the things you will never play another game for a looong time.

    With a modified wii remote controller u can aim like with a RL-Airsoft.
