  1. It's engine-side, script-side, gameplay-side, development-side. It's a grounded issue. There is very little flexibility around combat effectiveness in games, and therefore we have to fit within its limits and not outside of them. There's an unfortunate disconnect there with all games -- wound ballistics is tough to model, damage values are constantly tweaked but at the end of the day you're right, you can either end up respawned or magnificently worked on by a medic and pulled back to life. We've brainstormed where we could make it better in those terms but credible solutions are hard to come by. You would have to consult the hit detection and damage propagation systems in place within the engines limits; it has to modeled ready for an MP environment and associated server strains. If they could script it perfectly, they probably would. What we're doing is pushing the medic's boundaries - more towards reality, but within those limitations, not simply in a 'roleplay' usage but generally to see where we can push the medical aspect of ARMA. I personally have never seen such a modification push medical limits - both within CSE and CSM - I'm talking as simple as taking a blood pressure even, with adjusting values dependent on perfusion status and bleeding.

Tactical Run Vs. Get The Hack Out Of Dodge Run

    Who sprints and shoots? :D
  4. Re-post it here, I'm sure everyone wanted to carry on the 'tactical' discussion rather than the purpose of a guide. :D

    Unrealistic weapons damage

It certainly is not depending on round type and how every many variables you can account for. MK262, one shot, sure. MK211, sure. 6.8, more likely but not uncommon that variances occur. Most people, judging by data and the available research (Dr. Fackler, Dr. Gary K. Roberts, et al) die by bleeding it out - usually out of sight. Hypovolemic shock is certainly a secondary inflicter.
  7. In my opinion it is a worthless feature. It would be interesting if it was scripted so absolute death or explosive means meant a possibility of being dismembered. Modelling a medical system alone around such an implementation is a hard task. But anyway, though interesting that people even request it. I would not like to see it.
  8. Petition to remodel all weapons into flowers and add an interactive hugging feature.

    Fast Ropes for Helicopters?

    Myth confirmed!

    Fast Ropes for Helicopters?

There is use for it when you start talking about user-created maps. Clafghan for example. (Most people are talking about a target insertion where FR is not advocated, but FR's are used in cold insertions)

    Fast Ropes for Helicopters?

As above, looks too static and slow for my liking. I never liked ARMA 2's 'fast roping' from ACE2 and the likes.

    Funny ArmA quotes

*Public players killed in an embarrassing way* "How do you miss a whole squad coming up your rear?" *Everyone laughs like children*
  13. I don't know. Doing so under fire is endocrinology heaven. When your heart rate starts hitting one eight zero and the fight-or-flight adrenaline and noradrenaline response will last from start 'till finish. Well... But to have it in the state of complete fatigue and duress within that space of time and distance I fully agree with you. It's ridiculous. Personally I hear my heart sounds louder than breathing but in terms of implementation, I like the way America's Army 2 and 3 did it.

Instantly kill them? 5.56 or 6.8?

    Flag Patches

Ah, NATO. Then SLAP an American flag over the top. I agree, Flag Patches all the way! You can do it with your .xml but then your .xml would have to be a flag and not your logo or anything else you want there.
  16. I think I signed this if I'm not mistaken. Maybe we'll see such with the 'upper body adjustments' they were making. Chortles knows more than me on this but weren't they making some upper-body rotations that would make you more effective at turning your body, especially for closer range firefights, and they removed it in a Beta patch to fix it?

    Unrealistic weapons damage

Coulum, great videos - all scientifically-backed. I've read some of the studies he references and the number one point is shot placement. ARMA is very poor with hit detection and damage propagation in my opinion and if they did ever want to expand on the wounding system then that would be the place to start.

    Unrealistic weapons damage

You do realize that's a normal happening, right? If you research into wound ballistics, you will soon realize that. 9mm FMJ is a poor round for multiple reasons. Strangely enough it acts better after penetrating an object.
  19. No, it would be almost impossible currently model medical aspects around dismemberment and limb loss.
  20. This. It would just take up unnecessary space, time and effort. I thought it was a great guide without all the 'and in real-life...' stories; for example there's only one danger crossing mentioned in the guide--for a linear danger area--and mentioning the rest, about five others I know off the top of my head, which aren't commonly used, would just be extra spice on something that's already too spicy. If you want such a thing then join a Tactical or Realism clan otherwise you'd be reading an extra book. Personally I did expect more from the "Close Quarter Battle" side of the guide due to ARMA 3's greatly improved features though it's great that Dslyecxi packed in so much on it within a few pages which will get people more familiar with it. Finally finished it and enjoyed the read.
  21. 158 132 Stratis, just West of the airfield. Has anyone noticed the barns here? They are God damn awful to get into! The 'smaller' doorways - which could fit a person in kit - often have you stuck from width issues and you have to squeeze around and keep trying to get a diagonal angle to get inside. I thought these issues would have been long gone since A2 but the famous LODs are back.
