Combat Medical System
rye1 replied to raptor 6 actual's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Looking into it. :) No promises. -
Are you high? :o

Good ideas. I also consider a description of the clan useful - but never find one until I search around externally.

Clan supports and enhancing clanship would be great to see. :)

Will Bohemia finally improve ARMA's PVP to attract New Players?
rye1 replied to LockDOwn's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Actually, Rambo style is rewarded in ARMA - they get all the kills because they can exploit being a lone wolf. -
Do profile skill values still work / apply in A2OA??

For SP or MP? For your server it's all about your server config and/or mods such as ASR_AI. -
Combat Medical System

That's cool man. If you wanted medevacs to be that important I think you would have to keep the player constantly doing something. For example on ACE - You're hardly ever doing a medeavac. The best you do is bandage, epinephrine, morphine. Just like you're ticking off a checkbox. If you wanted people to do this for a period it takes for a medevac bird to get there you'd have to keep the player constantly doing something, i.e. through a diagnostics system or with new options such aortic compression, abdominal compressions (IAC). Tourniquets, IV, endotrachael tube. A changing patient basically... with changing diagnostics, i.e. stop the source of bleeding, now what?! Cannot find exit wound and still bleeding, now what?! Those medical problems would keep you going. Then you get to the medi-bird, now what? You can't do any medical things in a vehicle... so that's worth looking into. Now you get to the field hospital or MASH tent - what now? See it can get far complex and I don't think it's plausible in ARMA or any game for half of the stuff. It's not like you're going to do an arcadey game-mode of surgery. :p Hahaha. ---------- Post added at 01:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:27 PM ---------- Still cannot find this whatsoever. P.S. create a skype group on this stuff and get a few scripters on board - could get it done in a few months. I'd test if you needed. ;) -
I don't know - how much would you pay for that? It's like advertising on a spade-toothed whale.

Arma 3 is not going far enough with Technology
rye1 replied to instagoat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I don't know. I agree with some of what you put but not all of it. Otherwise the solution for most problems would be to throw money at them. It's about technological improvement, and that needs a cash-flow to sustain their projects. Without the think-tank and innovation behind it, you will get no where. Wars bring out that creativity and really boosts military thinking and I think by 2030 you would have seen a LOT of changes. Plus the fact that the "SF" team portrayed in ARMA 3 (who basically sound like a nuclear/biological weapon busting team) are going to be kitted out with the best gear, or so you'd think. -
Actually one of the best ideas so far, certainly is time-orientated to ARMA 3 and would fit in well.

I was about to say "I didn't realize Brandon Webb was on here" then I noticed you quoted it from SOFREP. LOL.

It was in his interview with 60 minutes. Though relatively short and hush, hush. They said "modified" quite a lot. Basically never talked about the noise suppressors on the rotors or anything, they just said it was a modified Blackhawk. Infact a few things he mentioned there weren't in the book. But I'm glad they got it handed to them, it's gotten a bit over the top: Haven't they heard of limited exposure? Any word of what "secrets" they let out? Because it sounds to me like they got a slap on the wrist for talking too much, and then the media jumped to conclusions.

I agree, the whole genre has been pushed under and people are just waiting for a game to bring it back.

This show got pretty damn crazy. It's a messy world. It's one of these things you can't just "fix" and the current events will last generations. ABC did a good insight on how it's affecting Australia and how some Australian citizens are going there to fight and getting us therefore caught up in it to some degree or another (and obviously therefore a violent and confronting degree).

One thing I've always wanted is the sound of wind rushing past. If you stand there and can hear it, take a reference as Skyrim which does a great job with sound in total and really gives that immersive feel. The same goes when you jump out of a chopper, whatever, to hear that rush of wind would be great and really a nice small touch of quality.

I don't think it can steal anyone's market, it's in a category of its own. It's a competitor, to what, ground branch? I can't see anything that's actually popping out at me. They took an SF dude and are using him as a character, modeling his movements and so on. Ground Branch did similar, right? I can't see anything special or really that interesting.
-
Yeah the gear looks pretty authentic I agree. First time I've seen GPNVG's in a film. Looks like either No Easy Day was the directors favourite book or they have some good advisers on-board.

What weapons/vehicles would you like to see in ArmA 3?
rye1 replied to archaon98's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
There are grips made around that, just saying. Anatomical and physiological manipulation, i.e. hold it a certain way. -
Sadly true but the new clouds look awesome. I wonder how high up the cloud base starts. The improvements to HALO already look to be jumping out of the screen on with awesomeness the E3 2011 videos. But... the future... space jumps! SANO .... Space altitude no opening. Perfect weather can make a HAARP.

What's the ceiling height going to be?

If you've read "No Easy Day", Matt Bisonnette stated that "flying to the X", i.e. flying to land directly on the target, is tactical suicide; especially for non-stealth operations. He stated that the SEAL Teams didn't use it, and fast-roping on target alike, for quite a while during post-invasion of Iraq operational periods after it was used on a number of occasions and considered too risky, then suddenly the idea and philosophy around it popped up again for the Bin Laden raid. I too wish there were more insertion types in the vanilla game. I guess you just wait for mods. Fast rope insertion/extraction (FRIES) gear would be great to see. I think you're more likely to see HALO insertions. I note on the 2011 E3 videos of ARMA 3 that the animations for freefalling are great, the way the freefaller moves his body and hands/legs to change direction in the air, as compared with ARMA 2 where you virtually stay the same until you hit Delta position. I wonder what the ceiling height is, if at all modified, for instance will it allow for HAHO's?
