How to improve the Close Quarter Combat experience in Arma 3?
rye1 replied to Intezar's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well some of the destroyed buildings in the map look like this could be credible. If not, I'm sure there will be some amount of furniture which could be toppled. That's not a bad question actually. -
How to improve the Close Quarter Combat experience in Arma 3?

Though I agree with parts of what you have put I have to say... 1. It is easier the lighter you go, can this be equated into game? Can you be MORE agile with less weight in game? This begs the question, does weight have a double purpose? Do the animations react to? Probably not. 2. There are techniques to help you move through a house with a weapon, that's exactly why they were developed - this will not be included in game nor I believe will the difficulty of maneuvering within the internal environment. Your difficulty does not equate to everyone elses. You play airsoft? Look up teams like GMR. But yes, the maneuverability of your character will be limited in ARMA therefore the speed of which you can move and the animations stated are of the biggest value there. 3. 10-15 kilograms is fairly light and yes, it will limit your jump. We know this. 4. The topic in my opinion here is about obstacle negotiation and does not need to include jumping. It can include automatic or manual actions on specific objects, for example vaulting or stepping over. If there is a small object on the ground in the room, I can step over it or onto and off it. Shit, if the animations and speed are that good then you'd just go around the object. I'd personally also like to see a video of "room clearing" as stated by Smurf. -
I agree, definitely seems like vehicles were made out of plastic.

Indoors and outdoors usability, I agree. If there is furniture in your path you have an option OTHER THAN going around it. If it's a high obstacle, duck it. If it's a low obstacle, jump it. Although I hate thinking about its exploit; bunny hopping must be prevented. -
Stop giving them ideas, you're killing my immersion. :cry2:

I wish your character actually lifted his hand to do it though.

Competition amongst clans (Query / Suggestion)
rye1 replied to Sniper_Hog's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
There's more enough, quite a few are under the banner of AUSARMA. Then you have external groups from that, who still play every now and then with those clans. Then you have DayZ groups who would probably, though very limited, play a few matches. AUSARMA itself more tries to get them together by having events, normally hosted by a single clan with a mission they've created. So, for sure, we get a table together, rules and how-to and it would attract people. ARMA 3 vanilla to have this would make it easier for events to be hosted and promoted; I think the shine would rub off after a few months though. -
I liked the fact it wasn't all about the end-stage and DEVGRU. I enjoyed the story of a CIA agents sheer determination to find UBL and all those internal political ramblings she had to deal with. Enjoyed it. Would watch again! The CQB was pretty good, post-crash with the muzzle sweeping my first thought was, "Another Hollywood movie" but it actually turned out not too shabby. Back-to-the-wall type events thankfully were like 10 seconds long! ;) That scene was almost perfect.

Competition amongst clans (Query / Suggestion)

They do run those competitions. It's just it's uncommon. Some clans get wimpy, some get over the top with ego. Though a pooled level with divisions sounds good in theory, I'd rather play with clans in my country, with similar playing styles to me. And against clans that play like me. I wouldn't want an unrealistic fest full of campers for example. -

Prize orientated - some communities do such. 'Tis a good idea. As is Joint-ops. -
Combat Medical System

Haha! Should see when the MK211 is used. Yeah, stitching has been limited for in-field. Don't need to worry about anything unrealistic. ;) -

Have you ever seen wound ballistic pictures of what a .50 does to a body? Eeeeeeeeek. -

Why are we talking about jumping and dealing with obstacles? -

That's up to the mission maker I believe. Would be quite harsh on the player! :D -

Communities normally host events. In Australia we'd have AUSARMA (Australian and New Zealand ARMA) host a few PVP events along with OCB hosting basically a ranked-system of PVP. It went down pretty well but I haven't seen the likes of it for months now. Implementing that into ARMA 3 though, how? It sounds and at least currently is more of an external game characteristic in how you organize and prepare the event, unless of course ARMA 3 has a steam-like system which clans use to host such. Or do you mean time challenge types? Get the most kills in X mission? I'm sure some would be interested. -
Thirded.
-
That we know of...
-
Does that mean if you're crouched X would go to prone? Then another X to stood up?

Future ones?

I use control but you can always have voice activation (especially on external programs like teamspeak).

Not getting stuck on dead bodies who have just died gets a lot of people killed too. That's how people can camp out the doorway without too much risk - shoot the lead and the rest get stuck. There are many small problems. Some are general gameplay and others are more specific and less likely of BIS to look into. ---------- Post added at 03:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:47 PM ---------- Makes no sense. AI aren't going to act like that, human thought - come on. I'd love to see them use windows and rooftops to fire from sure - or get pinned down themselves more commonly. But "MOUT tactics", what are you talking about and how can you make the AI do so?
