  1. I completely agree with daraofp. I never understood why there are so many "Black-Op" style missions: they're fun when well-crafted, I know, but they use only a tiny portion of the OFP potential. This game can simulate - within a certain realism rate, of course - battles in which aviation, armored platoons and standard grunts are involved, so why focusing only on the special forces? daraofp is also absolutely right on the atmosphere factor: it's not much the realism put in a mission that makes it fun, but the amount of elements that make the player feel like he's really standing on a battlefield. Interesting plots, proper voice acting, cutscenes and such are of vital importance for that reason.

  2. Nice mission, good job. :) It's quite easy and short but I guess that is the way you wanted the mission to be. Now, since I'm working on a dynamic mission too, I thought about some features that you could add to yours, assuming that you areplanning about expanding the mission. Feel free to ignore those that you don't deem to fit in your work, of course!

    - Give the AI the ability to surrender if some of them are still alive at the end of the mission (there's a script on OFPEC and I also made one by myself. I can give it to you if you're interested.)

    - Adding paradropped support for the player's team (there's a script that does it on OFPEC, if I manage to find it, I'll put a link here.)

    - Adding a minimum score requirement so that the player has to seize more than one town in order to accomplish the mission;

    - Creating a template with player in other sides (West, East and Resistance). There's a way to make it so that the enemy side is randomly chosen: for instance, if the player is West, the enemy could belong either to East or Resistance. If you're interested and need help about implementing it, contact me;

    - Adding some custom radio sounds and some music in order to enhance the atmosphere;

    - Adding dynamic weather in order to make the mission even more unpredictable. I made a script for that puropose and there should be at least one more on OFPEC.com. Custom config mods like ECP, however, have this feature enabled by default, so discard this advice if you play with such mods activated.

  3. Thanks Bielow, I solved the problem by using another program called PBO view.

    Now I'm working on these addons: I've got a few ideas which I'd like to share with you. Contact me via PM and we'll see what we can do. :)

    And thanks again! This addon back really brings nostalgia feelings to me! :D

  4. Thanks for your suggestion krzychuzokecia, I did exactly what you said but Cpbo was already associated to .pbo files and I'm still not able to unpack them. Whenever I doubleclick on a .pbo file, a shell windows blinks and then disappears, changing nothing. :confused: Maybe someone could decompress the .pbo and upload the unpacked folders on some hosting site?

  5. Thanks Bielow! :) I didn't expect you to remember my missions, but yes, I'm the author of "The French Defenders", "Blood on the Streets" and "Operation Steel Wind" (among other non-WWII missions) that can still be found on ofpr.info

    By the way, are you still interested at working on these addons? If so, send me a private message. :)

    EDIT: Hmm, looks like Cpbo is not working. It added the "create PBO" context menu entry for the folders but I can't seem to make it work with .pbo files. Am I doing something wrong? Or maybe Cpbo is not compatible with Windows XP SP3? :confused:

  6. I'm one of the ex members of Italian WW2 mod. - Dr.Rebus and Indy will surely remember me with my old username "STiT"; I made scripts for the FIAT Revelli 1935 machine gun and some scripting for the Tiger too.

    I'd like to work on this addon pack as I've got (finally!) some spare time and also because my scripting knowledge has improved since when I was involved in the project BUT I have a problem: I can't seem to unpack them! What program did you use to convert the addon folders into .pbo? I've already tried with PBO decryptor by Amalfi, PBO Tool by Jazzbre and PboX but with no results. :j:

  7. First of all, you need to decrypt the .pbo files the units' textures are stored into. There's a lot of good .pbo decrypting tools, like the great PBO Decryptor by Amalfi. Then, inside the addon folder, you'll see various files in .paa or .pac format: these are the units' texture.

    If you want to modifiy them, get yourself a program that can handle such files, like PaNtool by Dschulle (download link is at the bottom of the page. See instructions on how to use it.)

    Normally textures are draw using Photoshop or Illustrator. But actually, almost every graphic editing software can be used to that purpose (yes, even the good old MS Paint :p).

    Hope I helped you. :)

  8. Even if I had already tried that, thank you for your advices, Sanctuary! :)

    Apparently, I solved the problem by reinstalling the motherboard drivers, and ticking off most of the options in the "API" section of the CATALYST Control Center. Sure, I lost some graphic details, but at least the game runs.

  9. Hello, I'm having a strange error.

    The game, CWA/OFP version 1.99 -but it also happens with 1.96-, completely freezes whenever I try to load an unofficial addons in the editor or when I try to load a mission that uses unofficial addons. At that point I'm given no other option aside from rebooting my PC.

    It happened for the first time a week ago after some Windows XP updates. I had never experienced this before and it's really strange.

    I updated motherboard drivers (it's a ASRock K7VT6), my video card drivers (Radeon 9200 SE) and my sound card drivers (C-Media AC97, comes bundled with the motherboard) but that didn't seem to do the trick.

    My motherboard chip is based on VIA and I already tried to set the AGP to 4x.

    Reinstallation OFP has been tried too. My operative system is Windows XP Service Pack 3. To whom it may concern, I'm posting the "flashpoint.rpt" file:

    Edit: I noticed that the game freezes only with some addons.

    DKM's Rah-66 ''Comanche'' works fine and so do the Marine Assault Pack units.

    Still many other unofficial addons make the game freeze.

  10. No, I didn't. I'll try to reinstall OFP now. I hope it will work. :)

    ---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:20 PM ----------

    As far as I know, the only solution to the problem is disabling the audio acceleration in the dxdiag menu. This method, however, slows down radio dialogues in game.

  11. Hello, I have a strange problem with OFP GOTY ver. 1.96.

    After a few minutes of playing with hardware acceleration on, all the sounds

    become deep-pitched and charachters' voices become "creepy", then I get blue screen of death.

    If I turn off the hardware acceleration, I get no sound issues but the game still crashes after a few minutes of playing, showing the same blue screen of death.

    I updated the audio drivers, the video drivers and the motherboard drivers.

    My sound card is VIA AC-97;

    My video card is a Radeon 9200 SE

    and the motherboard is a ASRock K7VT6.

    Any suggestion is welcome. ;)
