  1. Are there any plans to restrict the respawn exploit to get gear for free ? I did play a game round on a desert island and the possibility with the exploit to fire with javelin/metin more than 3-4k was just stupididly overpowered. The Barracks were clost to a hill, I did spawn a javelin or metin with 2 rockets, bought a jeep or 4 wheeler bike and placed more missiles into it. So far so good, but when you just hit the respawn button you get another new missiles for free, you dont even have to pay for it. It was such a cheap gameplay to kill loads of vehicles in a fast time. (die play warfare mod)...

    Yes they should be still active, same when you build bunkers or spawn heavy weapons with the repair truck. I just wonder what is the max numbers of mines you can activate on the whole game map.
  3. I remember the mod project reality, did play it some years ago. But at this time only a handfull servers did use this mod. There was one server really great in this beta times with awesome teamplay, i guess it was the main server of the dev team or the squad with dev members. But I dont play shooters anymore, maps are too small like a sandbox.

    I had problems with ARMA2 aswell, first the connection was alright with just the common issues sometimes. After that i tried to improve it and did a port forwarding, with this change my problem did start and it did take sometimes up to 5 min to connect to a server. I did find out that when i dont do any forwarding i could play the game without issues, no waiting for host for several minutes....this is really strange and I didnt find out what is the reason for it and never saw that before for any game, that a port forwarding slows down connection to a game server. Maybe I missed something and there was a mismatch but l could not find a fix. Well thats my individual issue and I did find the reason hope you will find a solution aswell.

I dont know what causes this problem but often I see enemy units warping around when my own latency is not really high.Sometimes it is only a slight movement and sometimes they vanish completly for a second and pop up some meters away from the last position. I did notice that this happens especially at long range already at 1000m distance. Iam not sure if this has something to do with the ACE2 mod and Benny Warfare edition and with some certain player made maps (island pack) since i play that combination a lot in the last days. ARMA2 has really a very long visible range but its important to know at what range unit objects start to render. I wonder also at what range infantry units start to render, often i look with my tank scope into towns and dont see any unit range around 2-4k.

    Try to change from a static pc IP to DHCP, try to disable every firewall (for some firewalls you still need to exclude the port/.exe for the game), try to play without forwarding and with. Just test a bit around and maybe you see a different.

  10. I have sometimes problems with my connection on multiplayer servers. During gameplay i suddenly loose connection and I have no clue what is the reason here. This happens often several times in a game session. I did notice in the chat lines that other players are loosing connections aswell...is there any solution for this ? edit: i did open the ports for the multiplayer server in my router, lets see how that works now.
  11. Alright i did find the reason for my problem...there was a mismatch with the IP settings. I wonder why i could play Arma2 with it aswell browsing the internet lol. I do use a static IP setting without DHCP and for that I did open the ports, first I did choose the PC IP i.e. 192.168.0.22 like it is suggested in the router guides and thats how I did it always for other games aswell...mmmh ?? but when I change it to the Router IP i.e. 192.168.0.1 i dont get problems and the connection is also a lot faster to arma server. Iam a bit unsure what is going on here until then i just play without port forwarding.
  12. Damn i did post it in the wrong thread...this was supposed for ACE2. edit: I did use yoma instead of alpinestars, maybe here is the issue and i thought the mods did load..wonder that i could play for a minute online. Will try it with alpinestars and see how it works again, thx =)

I have suddenly a problem with ACE2, did connect to a server but only short time later my game did crash. server had only the ace mods like i have it: Mods: CA;@ACE;@ACEX;@CBA;@ACEX_SM;@ACEX_PLA Thats the error messages i got in my RPT file: http://rapidshare.com/files/342048108/arma2.txt.RPT.html Hope i can get some help here, thx =)
  14. How can I disable the option that my game downloads custom sounds/pictures/tags ? I had a game crash with the following message, seems like that was a logo download from someon else on the server. .
  15. Yes that is a point i did suggest aswell in other threads, if we could get rid of superhero soldats the game would be even better. Not sure if this is possible to integrate in this mod or in certain gameplay mods i.e. warfare benny and so on. At the moment we have the situation that you can equip highly specialized infantry equipment i.e. javelin+sniper or MG units with missiles. We have also the option that every player can equip gear which gives him always an advantage in certain situation i.e. AA missiles/AT missiles. The vast majority of soldiers dont run around with such missile systems. We have also the option that we can equip such great equipment for almost every situation + we can jump into a tank, leave it and change to a Jet Fighter or Helicopter. I think all vehicles should be used by CREW´s with limited gear i.e. mp5 and 2 nades. This is how it works in simulation games i used to play before and i would love to see that, even it has not a high priority for me rather the gear issue i did write about before.
  16. I disagree that balance should have no place in games, even in hardcore simulation mmos there is a certain balance with types and time periods. First arma2 is only a simulation of combined arms but not a simulation of vehicles, air units and certain weapons. The ACE2 mod tries to get closer to a real sim and I appreaciate that. The m1a1 is far superior but in which time period... before the introduction of superior 829 ammunition it wasnt that much. The 829 ammunition was introduced in the late 90ies, the basic t-72 was introuduced..guess 1972 and the M1A1 was introduced 1980. Since ACE2 doesnt even introduce the basic t-72 like in the vanilla version I guess the mod tries to deliver more technology from late time periods. I think the question is valid how you want to balance factions since both sides starts with certain gear and they have to fight each other. Iam aware that we have a fantasy war with mixed technology from different time periods but if the 829 ammunition is so superior vs the east vehicles with what units or equipment can be this more or less equalized ? I had not the chance to play that much with the new ACE2 version, maybe I did miss something here but i think the question is interesting for the devs of ACE2 if there is even a balance issue which i dont know yet, thats why I just did ask the question. I dont have the overview yet. Of course this is only a game and not reality or a more accurate simulation like Steel Beasts professional (http://www.simhq.com/_land2/land_060a.html) or Battleground Europe (www.battlegroundeurope.com) but lets see how this will affect the gameplay in the next weeks and what we will expirience in the editor with testings. Anyway thx a lot to the ACE2 team, this modification brings so much to ARMA2 I wished the company would have implemented a lot of the features by default.
  17. The 829 ammunition was introduced a lot later btw....does the t-72 get also any upgrades or did i miss that maybe ? The 829 is a superior and very late introduced ammunition for abrams, almost 20 years after they were introduced. How to balance this. The Gau-8 is a 30mm ...wonder if you can even penetrate a battle tank from the front, roof maybe only. GAU-8 Armor penetration: * 69 mm at 500 meters * 38 mm at 1000 meters
  18. How do you want to balance that if one team starts with a tank which gets destroyed with the first hit and the other team has 5x more armor as a standard tank ? Is this anyhow balanced ? Dont get me wrong i love how you improve the dmg modell of vehicles, since i see so many us based features i just want some hints about balance. @The RPG-7VR can penetrate 600-700mm even after reactive armor due to wiki, in an optimal distance it should penetrate the m1a1 aswell. Yeah probably you did hit the "ammunition" in the t-72.
  19. I agree that tanking needs improvement.... dont agree here, the point is it is advertised as a military simulaiton so please the realism aspect is important. I dont want to see more arcade, i want to see it realistic as possible but still enjoyable. I think the speed of the tank uphill is alright, but the speed of the bycycle is silly. You can drive fast like a car which is totally unrealistic. Sometimes it works when you use 2-1 (cancel target) but this doesnt work always and it seems it is a bug. I have some points where i would loke to see improvement aswell: - AI detection of enemy units in general is weak and bugged in this game, this is a big part if you play warfare in veteran mode without 3rd person view. - Easy mode scanning with spacebar or right mouse button should have no place in a sim, i heard you can switch off the settings on multiplayer ? Anway this is cheaper than arcade even, for what we have such a nice territory with great cover but you can "cheat" to find a target...this is crap. But probably at the moment neccasary if we take none restricted gear aswell no dmg modell aswell ai detection in consideration. - The main gun movment doesnt feels right, it should be slower with a feeling that you move a big gun and not a water pistol. Even infantry weapons feel more heavy than the main gun of a tank. - When i order to turn off engines i want to have it turned off !! Often the gunner just starts the engine for his movement...thats an important issue. - The commander position turns with the gun which makes it impossible to scan anything.. important issue ! - Some kind of infrared camera is missing which is important in urban fights vs highly dangerous infantry units. - A tanker or any soldier should have his own role i.e. when iam a tank driver i have to concentrate on tanking and should not have the option to equip a sniper rifle+javelin or any specialized or highly effective weapon. It is too arcadish when you jump into a tank, equip super infantry gear and than you cap even whole towns without teamwork, this is not a simulated military but rather for the bf2 fanboys. - There should be more restricted gear and units i.e. every player can equip highly specialized weapon systems currently or just anti tank/AA missiles. In warfare you can have a whole squad with javelin or AA soldiers...this is crap and totally unrealistic and gives tanker really hell, its not fun as a tanker with those crazy options. - Not that important but would be fun, what about gear in vehicles ?

    Whats the use for it anyway, the AI has either too accurate aiming or doesnt recognize visible targets not at all...the game needs really big improvement here.
  22. How do you guys track targets and combine it with manual fire mode `? Since the shilka has a radar supported fire system i guess it is somehow possible...:confused:. I did use the shilka wiht AI so far, but on multiplayer the ai gunner did not shoot even the plane was in visible range...someone did suggest i should try manual fire...
  23. Very nice mod, I really hope we will see that on multiplayer server. This would bring in a lot more game depth and strategy options. Thx a lot ! Now think about...the new warfare mod 40vs40 without AI and only players with such nice options ....common guys that would great.
