  1. No Jsmuk that just updates the vehicle/ammo box across the network(so all players know about it).

    This issue with the cloths (the best I can tell) is that they are limited to a certin faction or class, and when you try and pick up something that is blocked it wont let you put it on. Now its a bit buggy and you can get around it by droping it on the ground sometimes.

    But you can overcome most of this by scripting. ( There are still limitations. If you script the civ clothes on yourself, they are actulay only visiable on your client. Others cant see it in MP).

    For a greater selection of gear use my Gear Select Menu and my ammo box script.

    *note the gear system is very buggy right now, people have to remember this is still an Alpha.

  2. This is a WORKING ammo box script. I have seen quite a few posts for class names and a lot of people are posting class names that don't work currently.

    This has all the working items in game that I can find so far, no errors or blanks in the ammo box. You should be able to put on most of this gear and attachments.(But I have not tried every singe one).

    It will refil every 500 seconds. You can change that at the bottom of the script.

    thanks to porter707 I mixed some of his classnames and corrected all of his broken ones with the ones I found.

    Put this in the init of your ammo box.

    nul =[this] execVM "ammo_box.sqf";

    ammo_box.sqf

  3. I have made a simple GUI to help with the new gear system while we are testing Alpha. I made this to test out the new gui setup and to help test out all the gear in A3.

    [Disclaimer] My UI still has several bugs, and a bunch of the gear is incomplete or buggy. But the ui is still quite functional.

    This is distributed as a mission, I included the MP pbo along with the editor folder for the mission. It is MP compatible. Each player will have an Action to open the menu. If you want to only have this available all the time, you can edit rgm_init.sqf to place the action on an object such as your ammo box.

    ---Features---

    - Can cycle between [Helmets, Clothes, Vests, Weapons, Optics,Attachments, Suppressor's and backpacks]

    - You can add ammo for your primary weapons.

    - Most of the items will show a hint with picture and the name of the item.

    - Some of this gear can only be added by script so it makes quite a bit more gear available than what is normally available.

    ---Known Issues---

    - Some of the gear that I included does not work properly.

    - There is an error the first time you open the GUI. ( I'm working on this now and it does not effect the functionality.)

    - Some gear combinations are client side only.

    - Some gear combinations will glitch your player model.

    - I did not include pistols in this release( I might add this later.)

  4. Does anyone know anyway to increase the distance that the acre radios transmit. I found this, but it is not helping us out too much,

    //Radio Loss over distance

    _nop = [0.25] call acre_api_fnc_setLossModelScale;

    Any suggestions?

    That just scales back the signal loss due to terrain, it does not effect the overall max distance the radios can rx.

    If you want to rx longer distances you need to do what they do in real life... set up a re-transmit station.

    // This will requre one free ACRE Channel that will only be used for Re-Trans.

    _radiotype = "ACRE_PRC117F"; // Type of radio you want to use.
    _object = myAwacsPlane; // Object you want to attach this re-trans to, can be any object, There are also static antenna in ACRE you can use.
    _chan1 = 215.875; // First ACRE Chan
    _chan2 = 218.500; // Second ACRE Chan , This is our re-trans only Chan.
    _power = 20000; // Power to transmit at.

    // This will set up an effective retrans station on the object. It will take a rx on _chan1 and re-trans it back out.
    _nop = [_radiotype, _object, _chan1, _chan2, _power] call acre_api_fnc_attachRxmtToObj;
    _nop = [_radiotype, _object, _chan2, _chan1, _power] call acre_api_fnc_attachRxmtToObj;

  5. I remember those boycott movements for L4D2 and MW2, people bitched and moaned for months for actually legit reasons though. In the end, when those games came out, you could see on the Steam boycott groups the vast majority of them playing their respective boycotted game day one. So much for maturity and principles...

    So yeah, I do believe a lot of people react in a very childish way to this news and will eventually buy the game regardless. You're free to do whatever you want with your hard-earned money, nobody is denying that. The drama thingy about you most faithful fans feeling betrayed or spat in the face is pointless though.

    Yes because the L4D2 and MW2 communities were so mature in the first place...

    Kinda like the drama from the [sDF]Steam Defense Force.

    What is pointless is you guys heckling someone because they spoke out on their opinion.

    Btw... I have never said that I'm not buying the game(I don't like the Steam decision) but I'm waiting till we get more info on the mod situation. I have just been trying to stick up for all the guys that are not happy and are not going to buy. Its their decision/opinion and they are entitled to it just as much as you.

  6. How so. What am I going to suffer from by accepting what BIS has done and playing. How are you guys going to benefit from dropping A3 without even giving it a chance. Do you sleep better at night?

    I understand principles and actually respect you for sticking to them, but you may want to re-evaluate those principles to see if they are really in your best interest instead of mindlessly holding onto them.

    Nothing childish about this. When I say childish, I am referring to the people who haven't even given steam or A3 on steam a chance. It is akin to:

    Yew that brocolli looks nasty mom, I aint gonna eat it.

    Well timmy you haven't even tried it, and look there is dessert at the end!

    No I am not going to eat anything.

    I aslo hate that I have to call people childish to get anyones attention in this thread. I don't mean to come across as rude.

    What your saying reminds me of this:

    People are buying a game, its there perogitive if they want to buy a game with a Required third party program. They don't have to give anything a chance. Did you earn the money and give it to them so they could buy the game? Then no one else gets to decide how they spend their money.

  7. When times are tough, if you let irrational principles stand in your way, you'll never make a profit, what's more - you'll go bankrupt as an entreprise. I'd like to see ArmA III expand beyond 150 people, thank you very much.

    Most people are not questioning why, I fully understand why they are doing it. But that does not mean I have to like it or that someone else has to go against their principles just so BI can make a profit.

  8. You're right and there will be...

    The question is when. I think BIS needs to get this out asap. already I think we've lost many very smart and intelligent community memebers (and of course probably some not so smart ones...).

    I hate steam, but we need to be more open minded than we are now. Dropping arma 3, after reading a page from a devblog, because it said arma 3 would require steam, is quite childish, although I understand that it may be a kneejerk type of reaction for some.

    Give it a chance!

    How is it childish when someone has a set of standards and principles and they choose to live by them and now this is going against there wishes, so they are leaving.

    Actually that sounds like a sound mature decision based on ones principles.

  9. Indeed they did, couldn't agree more. So am I and I didn't even buy BF3.

    I'm not entirely sure what you mean with the last statement but assuming you meant that the community will have no place to go I'm not sure what you're talking about. If you're talking about less modding support I can directly say that you're wrong. Nothing is forcing you to release your addon on Steam, look at SkyrimNexus which is still running very well (and is probably more popular than the workshop). It's optional and if you want, you could release it on both places or more.

    I was referring to the huge, Mature Community that pretty much left when they dropped mod support. Its hard to find a good game or good Unit to play BF3. Just trying to read the forums over there will give you a headache.

  10. Why do most people instantly assume that steam makes it harder to mod? you mod the game in the exact same way as you mod every other instance of arma, it's just now the game is in steam/common/ instead of program files/bohemia interactive

    Talk about an increase of difficulty!

    The reason why 'steam users' (what is this? some sort of slur?) have difficulty installing mods isnt because of the platform it's because a lot of people bought the game through steam and are having difficulties with THE GAME not the steam aspect. They could have bought a retail version and they'd still be having issues.

    The fact people are quoting those boring ass gifs that showed up when steam was first released and going 'haha this is my problem with steam' just shows the maturity of those complaining - if you're having trouble updating steam in this day and age it's more than likely your unstable connection than the actual program itself.

    Stolen mods, Workshop tools not working, Errors updating mods , Errors deleting mods.... And these are just the first few pages on there respective forums. So yea some people are apprehensive.

  11. Hopefully integrated steam friends, right click to join etc, game hub, workshop (skyrim has 1gb file size limit, not 100mb)

    Possibly VAC instead of BE (thank god!)

    Game versions can be treated as two (default, beta) instead of several (also reduces testing time)

    Delta-patching

    An app that does not eat my CPU/RAM while running (steam is using 50mb of ram atm, that's less than chrome and dropbox)

    I've failed to see any real arguments against steam, seems like most of them are either

    a) 5 years old and never happen

    b) Bandwagoning because no own opinion / Have never had Steam on their computer

    c) The "I've done this for several years and it's working fine, why change it?" attitude. If we were to take a look at bf3, the hate against origin was 10x larger than the hate on steam is, still bf3 had 3 million pre-orders and sold 5 million copies during the first week. Yes the community might be larger for BF3 but bringing A3 to Steam will certainly not decrease the amount of purchasers by any significant amount and if it does, it will certainly be re-placed by new people who do not buy games other than on Steam (yes, they do exist). I for one have not purchased a DVD copy of a game in several years.

    I have posted several questions that need to be answered before I make a final judgement, but had to respond to the BF3 comment, EA shat all over modders and community developers. They removed modding all together... Im done with EA and Origin, I will not buy another product from them.

    Sure they sold a ton of BF3 but look at the community... Is that what you want to take the place of people that leave due to the steam issue?

  12. No one said they were doing it out of spite or greed. I understand fully why they are doing it. That doesn't mean that I have to like the decision or that someone is being immature because they do not like steam and don't wish to develop content for the steam-verse.

  13. ...you realize you can turn off VAC on servers too, right? (it just works in the background instead of trying to brag out to everyone about how good it is then later have to remind everyone every 5 minutes that the hackers are pretending to be Battleye because they're idiots and bragged out to everyone about their anti-cheat)

    Hell in Red Orchestra 2 you can host with a mixture of PunkBuster and/or VAC.

    You can turn it off for the server, but its still going on your client. That's not off like BE. Some people like to play with signature checking, some with out it, some like to play with BE some with out it. We will have to wait and see if those types of options are still available in A3.

  14. BattlEye, I love how people complain about getting tons of community support for (on their end at least) absolutely free, saying that it's a virus and has popups (what?), but are totally ok with getting spammed in-game by an anti-cheat client!

    I think the biggest thing is that you can turn BE off on your server if you want. Lets see how that goes with steam and VAC...

    I think most people are upset about this because they feel that its taking away options... I like the options and the openness about Arma. Its a bit uncertain on how that's going to play out now.
