Yeah, I used to paint 25mm Napoleonic stuff and as you say I look at things like that now and think,, How ?? Good idea about putting them out on display. Wonder if the old AH games are worth anything now ? Blows me away to think of the size of the rulebooks and how the game was even played keeping all that stuff in your head without the aid of a computer.. lol... sorry old git warning there I think.. Me and my mates could only dream about how good pc gaming would get and I remember reading an article in the General (AH magazine I think) about the future role of pc's in wargaming, blown away by his predictions and couldn't wait. Anyone remember Kampfgruppe on the C64 ? When that came out it basically fulfilled all the predictions, Oh boy what would that guy have made of ARMA ? Makes you wonder what in heaven's name wargaming will be like on computers in another 30 plus years time ? Anyway Francois, nice one :)

Hi Francois, Can add nothing to this topic other than I am roughly the same age and got into wargaming the same way, i.e. Napoleonic miniatures on a Sandtable followed by Avalon Hill stuff, Squad Leader, Panzerblitz (had over thirty AH titles until my ex decided to give them all away to a charity shop :( ) and then came pc games Just saying hello mate. You dont stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.

Hi all, Loving it although a bit late to the party:) Am playing in Steam and using workshop and have just come up to the savegame bug, i.e. I have no resume button. I read in your issues section about adding "continue " to the save game files but my problem is I cannot seem to find them. I honestly think I have looked in exactly where you said to look in your help but they don't seem to be there ! Any ideas anyone ?

Hi there, I am playing a Vanilla Arma2 campaign version 1.11 (without going back into game I think that is right version) and am having few problems and am not sure if bug or me being idiot. Am at the the Manhatten stage in the campaign and am looking for insurgent camps. I have alighted near a village from the helo and within a few minutes I am joined by lots of non USA friendlies, they seem to be following me. Anyway, my issue is that I seem to be dieing for no apparent reason. At first I thought it was a sniper because it seemed to happen at a particular spot, after reccing the area with my squad (not use my player character for this btw) I couldn't find any,,, thought a bug so decided to move away and try something else. Went about a km away, called the chopper in,, took off,,, died. This seems to happen even if I try to move away in the helo right at the beginnning of save as well. I hope I have explained it ok,, any ideas or is someone supposedly on my side shooting me :)) thx in advance

It works like this. I wasn't having a pop at any people, dont know anyone on these boards, so why the wiscrack answers back? Vis a vis other titles my point is valid. "Maybe you should play superior Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising? " Bought it, played it, done it, yawn!!.. Shaking head,, And as for not too many buttons puff head you ever played Falcon 4, Now Allied Force ? Got it, love it, beta tested the 1.04 patch back in 98,, was you born then ??,, google it! That game for buttons makes OF and ARMA 2 put together seem like a game of Pong... Thx for the helpful answers btw :) Still stick by what I said......... issuing orders in this sim/game is not well implemented,, period! Yet.

Just bought Arma 2, figured give it a while to get the bugs ironed out and some patches. Oh dear. My problem. Am at the stage where I have just got use of the helo to investigate the red crosses on the map, pretty early on in the game. Anyway I land the helo in a clear space near one, give me time to sort things out b4 investigating it. Issue a group order to my unit to go stealth. Hmm,, why they shouting all the time ? Get near to the base and tell them to go prone/copy my stance. I creep up to the edge of the camp,,,, the fuucking idiot AI runs to the edge in a crouch and starts shooting, and dying. re-load!!! It wouldn't be so bad but I have already taken the helo to this spot several times after having sussed out you have to give the helo pilot his destination instructions first time you get in the chopper,, do nothing else first. Other wise I can't seem to get him to move. I dont think I am a dumbass. I played the first OF and loved it. I also play hps wargames as well yada yada.. I'm pretty sure someone is gonne come on and say,, "no no, you have to issue orders in this order" then it will work.......... That is a workaround Pretty poor show in some critical areas Bohemia :((
