It wouldn't be awesome, it would be a travesty, this mod is designed to recreate WW2 as it was, not as it could have been, if you want fantasy play Warhammer.
Comments like this annoy the hell out of me, this mod is a work of art and will take time to get right, wasting time making lumbering ill concieved monstrosities not only would delay it but it would spoil it so lets not hear anymore of this sort of request as its an unwanted distraction.

UNN has been working on a weapon resting feature that could be used for I44 in the future although I think the intention is to eventually have it usable by any weapon. He's posted a progress video you might have seen but so far it requires each object that a player can rest their weapon on to be edited to include a new named selection where the action can be performed.Yes i saw that on you tube, it looked excellent, however it says its a work in progress so i didnt want to mention it until its ready and i hoped you had someone working on a version as well, but now youve said that you are going to implement that version for the CO release im now very happy :) <------ see.

Regarding the updated version of I44 and the fixed Omaha map, is there a weapon rest function on the horizon as a lack of it is the fly in the ointment for me with this otherwise superb mod.
I say this because on the Omaha map there is no natural high ground so the multi storey buildings are the highest points on the map and therefore tactically important as they were in real life, but without the ability to rest heavy machine guns on the window ledges these weapons lose their main function and the multi storey buildings lose some of their tactical importance, that of providing supressing fire from long range and a raised weapons platform.
Given the closed in nature of the bocage and the limited LOS the heavy machine gun deployed in a two or three storey building would dominate the battlefield as it should.
Also ive noticed its possible to break through bocage with light vehicles, could this be fixed so only tanks can do this, that would also change the tactics to more realistically represent that particular theatre although i am aware that the only tanks that could cut through the bocage were the ones with special teeth attached but they arent modelled in this mod, could be an idea to do that in the future then even standard tanks would have to stick to the roads and natural openings which would impact on attack routes and defensive setups and would add an extra touch of realism IMO )

@I44 Omaha II Public Event draws near!I see you are playing the COOPs, these have been played to death and the AI suck, couldnt you host that MP C&H FFS_Frontline'43@I44 that i saw on your site, that would be much better as there is a definite lack of MP missions for this mod and they need to be promoted when new ones are released.

Something in between should satisfy both sides.I wouldnt say there were any sides, if it had been an important issue it wouldnt have taken this long to come up so if it isn't broke dont fix it i say.

It seems you're comparing I44 and default ArmA2 behaviour to a 3rd party mod with the FOV altered. There's been very frew requests for this type of "feature" so I wouldn't expect it any time soon and if there's a mod that already does it and its a feature you enjoy, is it not possible to just use the mod when playing by yourself?Simple weapon zooming on iron sights is something I personally use a lot so wouldn't like to see it removed but if there's a demand for it our coder might look into implementing it at some stage further down the line, but don't expect it next release.
I agree, there has been no requests and its something i personally wouldnt like to see meddled with as its fine IMO.

Tho I agree - it would be better for gameplay, especially with SMG's (I take in account the above "thought")yep, the handling is definitely better with this (True mod)FOV,especially in urban warfare.
And it's touch of realism to the naked eye to zooming ???:rolleyes:
Its a non issue IMO, i like the ironsights in i44.

Anyone with the problem Battleye patch corrupted #0 this is how i fixed mine.
Firstly there are three Battleye folders, one in the main Arma2 directory, one in the Arma2/Expansions folder and one in the Arma2/Profiles folder.
In the first two Battleye folders there are two dll files (client and server), in the third one you will find one dll file (client).
Google Battleye and find the downloads section, from that download the client and server dll files for Arma2 and Arma2 OA, then delete the current dll files you have in all three of your Battleye folders, then replace them with the files you have downloaded, put the Arma2 client and server dll files in the Arma2/Battleye folder and just the Arma2 client dll in the Profile/Battleye folder, then put the Arma2 OA client and server dll files in the Arma2/Expansions/Battleye folder.
This fixed mine i hope it fixes yours.

Ok, so where and when can we play this baby in multiplayer online?Kellys heroes server looks great, but no one there.
Are there other server sites or meeting places where it's possible to find live opponents?
I'm in Pacific Time Zone USA.
Kellys ran a PvP game last Sunday evening at 8 pm UK time which attracted a lot of players and was a lot of fun, i think there may be more coming up but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Hopefully we'll be getting a quick-fix out for Omaha island this week so that next weekend we can give Citizen Soldiers a try!Look forward to seeing you all again next time!

Just finished the Freefall game on Kellys and i was pleased at the large turnout, well done Pac for setting up the mission and Kellys Heroes for hosting it, it would be great if this could be a regular event to showcase peoples missions and get some good rivalries going in a multi player format.
One critisicm was that the mission tended to split players up over wide areas which tended to create situations where players were waiting at objectives for long periods with no action, thats why most people went airbourne.
I feel that something smaller with objectives that concentrate the opposing sides in one location would be good to try next time, the mission Citizen Soldiers would certainly benefit from having the amount of players that turned up tonight so if Kellys want to host that one sunday evening ill be game.

Could you checkout the stairway opening in the floor of the attic in the three story buildings on Omaha, i always get stuck going down through it and have to go prone and wriggle about to get to the next level even though its fine moving up through it.

Quick note on AAS kju actually hooked up with I44 a while back and started some preliminary work on a version for I44, hopefully you will be seeing a release of that sometime in the future. In the meantime I've been working on a large Team Vs Team mission 'Free Fall' the public version 0.2 is a bit out of date and will be updated probably tonight (*alt tabs to check on his tests* - which are going well :) ) in that you need to work as a team with infantry, air and armor assets to capture and hold several zones across Chernarus, hopefully we'll be running an event this weekend and can fill out both sides for a real bit of war ;)I appreciate your work but i should of been more specific, i was talking about C & H MP games on the Omaha map, the lighting is almost photo realistic in some single player missions, in fact the best mission to convert to a C & H would be the TvTCitizen Soldiers one as that has the best lighting in the whole mod, and its the combination of the mod, the omaha map and the lighting that makes this mod go from being good to being sublime.

This is an appeal to all mission builders for i44, please make a MP capture and hold around the villages on the Omaha beach map.
To popularise this mod it is essential that MP missions are made and made simple enough for the average solo player to play.
Ive recently played one new MP TvT mission that was set at nightime and forced you to run a lot just to get to the fighting, then when you got killed it took 84 seconds to respawn, i love MP missions but that mission was awfull for a novice or average player just browsing the servers.
Now im all for tough missions that take some teamwork and guile but at this stage in the i44 mods life i think the MP missions should be simpler and accomodate solo play as well as teamwork given that the average browsing player trying a new mission will start off playing solo, teamwork can always come later.
I personally dont have the time at the moment to make missions but i will, but at this early stage in the mods life someone needs to make a good Capture and Hold MP mission or convert an existing one from the Chernarus or Takistan MP missions.
The C & H missions made by the AAS (AdvancandSecure) guys are the best in Arma IMO so a few conversions of their MP missions would be awesome and im sure would popularise this mod even more and get more playing it.

Although the compartment in the 222 was open I think the driver generally got in and out through a front underside hatch as climbing backwards up out of the drivers seat into the gunners raised platform would be a bit of a twister move so I'd guess that'd why the decision was made to keep those compartments seperate despite being physically open.This video on youtube shows a fair bit of the interior
its not exactly roomy so you'd have to be pretty slim to move freely from one spot to the other.Ok thats fine, but ive just been playing with the 222 and its broken, the turret turns but the main gun doesn't.

This is due to the different compartments in real life if you couldn't actually move from one position to the other we've replicated it with the mod's units. Personally I prefer it this way as it avoids the problem 1 man tank crew online enforcing a bit more teamplay, communication and co-ordination. If you crew it with AI under your command you can always sit in the gunner seat and use the directions to guide the AI driver pretty efficiently.Well thats fair enough but the german armoured car ?, surely the driver can become the gunner without getting out of the vehicle ?

Ive noticed that in some tanks and the german armoured car that you have to physically get out of the vehicle to swap from driver to gunner seat.
Is it possible to fix this in a future patch ?

A better idea would be coming up with some way to get proper support into the game. Like mortars and bombing runs.I would like to see a module (yeah, I like modules ;)) That creates a setup for the player to be able to select a mortar, its target and ammunition and other variables like how many shots, time between them etc etc
or some form of calling in a bombing run from a formation of Heinkels or B-17's (even if you can't physicly see the planes, perhaps a overlay sound and a Hint showing what it is..... )
But done in a way off WW2. So not just by pressing map coordinate. But by having a radio and calling it in via coordinates using that or binocs..... something that would be realistic and not over-powered for WW2.
And, Fun to play about with. Who doesn't like watching a bombing run onto an enemy target. :D
This is a good idea, if artillery / air strikes were allocated to certain player types it would add another tactical layer to the missions and as importantly enhance the atmosphere.

I agree about the ineffectiveness of the SMGs and would like to see the damage increased, especially the Sten Gun which is nigh on useless IMO.
