    Render To Texture + Scopes = ???

    Just to clear something up about RO2, and this is seriously off topic so any more discussion should probably take place in the form of PMs. Ro2 used to use server side ballistics, with SV hitscan out to 50m. With Mekhazzio's work on client side ballistics the game has been changed to client side, with the same ballistics, and options for more advanced ricochets and refraction through materials. The only thing really missing is wind. I would love to see RO2 style 3D scopes, although I can understand if they're not in the game. The outside of the scope visibility given with RTT scopes is just fantastic though.

    Development Blog & Reveals

    The showcases we are waiting for a helicopters and infantry. My guess is that infantry is causing a hold up, the main advancements we are waiting for are large improvements to the AI, BIS is probably fixing problems with the AI and making sure that the walkthrough demonstrates smart behaviour and not the weird movements and behaviours exhibited by A2 AI. Comparatively the other videos feature very little or no AI.

    It would be great if room was left for receiver type gun play. Perhaps an example with just one gun, buttons for many individual actions. It would take a lot of work, but the payoff would be fantastic. For reference, receiver:

    hmmm, what observations are you making :j: I have an ati card, for an (speed and vram) equivalent card by Nvidia I was going to have to fork out 100-200 dollars more (180 dollars vs 370 dollars, current pricing, it was different when I bought the card). The difference is that you get more features with nvidia such as: 3d, Cuda support (and hence video card based physx, not to be confused with the physx physics engine) and generally better support. here are some statistics for now: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html for comparing graphics cards (high end). use ctrl f to find the 6870 and the GeForce GTX 470 (the closest card by nvidia to the 6870) price: ati 6870: $189 nvidia gtx270 (geforce): $369 And yes, I have way too much time on my hands at the moment :D

    Yes, but with a server fps of 10-20. It is fairly noticeable. and yes, UO do do a better job than many other squads, but that is part of the point, one should not have to be good nor rich to run a good server. Edit: typo :)

Sorry you have been made redundant, we don't need someone around here to state the blatantly obvious. :D I kid, I kid, your point is completely correct and I DAMN WELL HOPE BIS makes an ofp-esque campaign. Oh how I loved that game, where is it now? (searches for usb with ofp install on it... again...)

  10. Quite often, yes, the two are mutually exclusive. However, you should not start fretting yet. Mostly the reason is that devs cannot make first person animations for the feet work correctly (see fear, the feet appear to slide and stairs just look odd), technologically there is nothing much stopping BIS from putting in both. And my guess is, there will be both.

  13. I would say, "better physx, better netcode, better particle fx (they have remained almost unchanged from OFP...)" but... looks like BIS have a competitor, who is using cryengine :p ;)

    Graphics engine improvement

    I think BIS need to do two things: Optimise the object rendering code a little better (ie improve fps when extra trees and/or buildings are involved) Improve particle effects IMMENSELY (is there an underline feature in these forums, i need it :p). Seriously, there are so many technologies out there that generate fire and smoke effects that, once the physics are baked, can be lit and displayed in REAL TIME 60fps or higher. I don't want explosions that interact with everything, i just want more then a grey blob. If BIS do not intend to improve the fps, then they need to make their code for gun handling (the one that simulates momentum etc) work at fps rates lower than 40 at which point it becomes laggy. Anyway, thats my input, thanks for the great game :)

    meade, i always have thought there should be less formation shapes (echelon, overwatch, vee and compact column are all that are necessary) PLUS a tighten and loosen formation command where a looser formation does not always run to keep up, ducks for cover etc, but a really tight (as in CQB) formation will stay with you except for leaning around corners.
  16. we really need a new particle system, arma 2 looks brilliant when looking at model and landscapes, but as soon as you shoot or something blows up.. the game looks crap. Don't worry BIS its all fixable, just dedicate some time into it, seeing as this is a military game i would expect you to put some effort into military things looking correct. But it is up to you, if you can't that's okay, justsayin :rolleyes:;)

  18. you are actually trying to say the physics model for the helo seems realistic... i just facepalmed, i currently fly for Banksy air and tbh the flying in this game is not good. Just for the devs, work on the stalling, the plane should behave differently when fighting the airflow and then loose its lift, at the moment it loses lift when it really shouldnt.

    lol i was trying to get in a car and toot my horn/rev loudly at them... all the cars were locked... then i shot in the air, they lay down on the ground, so i got angry (spent 45 mins so far on this tiny little mission) and shot them all, followed by my squad.

    anyone else getting a nut-ton less grass in 1.08 BIS, WHYY????? why have you taken away my beautiful grass??? :mad: EDIT: i just figured it out, the new patch kills PROPER mod and makes it take out all the grass (at least with me), something proper has never done before. Also the trees loaded weirdly. anywho, problem solved, turn off PROPER.

  22. what versions of ts3 does acre 1.0.10 work with? i have tried: the latest beta (30), beta 26 and beta 23 all of them come up with the "acre plugin was not loaded" error. I really want to use this amazing addon, loved a2t

    i LOVE the way the trees fade and go blurry, hell i love this island in general. It is amazing, the detail, the tussock fights! just one or two problems, the fade in from totally blurred to clear but low detail looks a little odd on the trees... maybe they should still be blurred but less and less as u get closer? And the notorious texture bugs, damn those things are hard to get rid of. I notice them on the edge of the tussock. But congratulations! i hope many people start using this vegetation (hint hint)

    LOVING this mission. Much better than dom or warfare. PS: turned AI to 0.4, it was like playing against real people... i know i know they are as tactics as zombie geese but it feels like they are using them, cover becomes actually important, it was like a huge pvp between squads. probably the best mission i have ever played online, thanks.

    hey man, i see you fixed the dust "fleeing the scene of the crime at high speeds". It looks great now, just like real life. I really don't know now whether it is possible for this mod to get any better under the arma2 engine, but i sure hope i am wrong. Good work mate, brilliant mod :eek: it is a keeper for sure.
