Are those ACR maps? If so, then use the armory on another map. You can use the ACR equipment there.

    Commanding AI - Platoon strength

Yes, this is one of the most important things to know about the AI. They can be very effective when not locked into a formation with you. When they are, they will care more about keeping the exact formation than engaging the enemy. As soon as you move even a little, all the AI will get up and move to try to maintain the formation.

Discounts? It's dirt cheap already, extremely high value for money compared to other DLC:s. Go on Steam and check how much a DLC for another game costs, for only a map or two, or maybe just some new game modes or weapons. With ACR you get new maps, new weapons, vehicles, aircraft, a SP campaign and a few single missions. I can't think of any DLC for another game that can match that... and all for about the same price as a simple lunch at a restaurant, or one or two beers at the pub. Just buy it already...
  4. I agree that you shouldn't have to do the whole mission again if it fails. The saves should be available. Hope this will be fixed. On another topic, the way some of you seem to play, you are destroying all the fun. No wonder the mission gets boring. Here's how I play these kinds of missions: First, I drive around, checking out the question marks that are marked on the map, constantly scanning and being alert for any enemies. Once I get assigned a location to check out, that's when the fun begins. First, I check out the map, carefully analyzing the terrain. I try to visualise how the terrain looks around the target, and choose a direction to approach from. Then I make a plan. How should I deploy my men? Where is a good position for the Machine Gunner and the rest of the support team? Where's a good place to put the vehicle so it can support the infantry, and/or engage any enemy vehicles that may get spotted? Where should the assault team go in, and so on. Then I do a close stealthy recon, usually just me and one AI soldier (they are good at detecting the enemy, so it's nice to have one AI guy around), trying to determine exactly where the enemy is, how many they are, and if there are any vehicles. This phase can get really tense, doing the recon without being detected. Then, I modify the plan as needed, according to the new information from the recon, and launch the attack. This is of course a very slow and meticulous process, so each "suspicious location" can take up to an hour to clear, especially if I have to change my plan and approach from a different direction than I thought at first. Guys, this is a military simulator. It needs to be played with good, realistic tactics. It's not a shooter where you can just go in guns blazing. Well, you can if you keep abusing quick save, but where is the fun in that? If you are just rushing through missions like this, you are missing out on the good stuff. Read up on real life tactics, and try to apply that. The key is to take it slowly and carefully, recon the enemy positions before attacking, having tons of patience, and doing lots of thinking and planning before you act.
  5. So, I was firing the new CZ pistol from ACR on the shooting range, and noticed that the sights are f****d up. Maybe we should collect some money to give all the BIS people shirts like this: http://www.weapon-blog.com/2012/10/sight-picture-shirt/ THIS is what it should look like... Both the top edges and the dots (for low light shooting) needs to be aligned properly. I noticed that the dots on the Glock 17 are misaligned, although at least the top edges are correct on that one. I really wish that all the pistols in Arma 3 will have properly aligned sights...
  6. Never said it was, but it makes the statement "Hey if all of you say it's fine - must be an error on my side of the internet" inconclusive... ;)
  7. 2 or 3 positive people is hardly conclusive. I'm not too fond of PWS. Just yesterday, for instance, the default install location had somehow reverted back to "My documents" on my SSD disk, where I don't want any mods installed because of limited available space. I want my mods where they have always been, in the OA folder, which is located on another hard drive. I thought there was just an update to I44 being downloaded, but all of it was installed again. :j: I can see how it's useful for those of you who use a lot of mods that gets updated often, but I would prefer if there also was a way to manually install the infrequent I44 updates. Right now, I44 is the only mod I use.
  8. Yes, they will. You will have to restart OA any time you activate or deactivate a mod though, so if you activate and deactivate mods often, you're better off using a launcher.
  9. Did you first run Arma 2 at least once since it was installed? Have you removed all mods from the "launch options" start line? If so, OA should launch and load all content, and you can activate any mods installed in the OA folder from the "Expansions" menu option.
  10. If you have the mods installed in your OA folder, then just delete them from the startup line. They will load anyway, or at least you can activate them from the "addons" menu option. The problem, like sherlock pointed out, is if you have your mods installed in another location, then you're screwed...
  11. Ok, that worked, but only after I removed the "-mod=ACR" from the OA startup parameters. This was needed before to make ACR work, but now it apparently needs to be removed. Also, why don't you remove the "CO" option if it's no longer to be used?

    Combined Operations steam issue

    http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?73554-ARMA2-amp-OA-s-Steam-Thread-All-Steam-Q-s-discussions-go-here-covered-by-Dwarden
  13. I had the same issue, after converting everything (A2+OA+all DLCs). Starting "Combined operations" doesn't seem to work anymore. However, I ran PMC instead and that works fine. It seems all the content is available, at least everything shows up in the addons menu, and I was able to play the ACR campaign.
  14. Oh, this again. BIS really made a mistake with all these confusing names and versions. Why a totally new name just because you happen to own two previous products? Hope they've learned their lession for the future.

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

The problem with ACR is that there have still not been a patched released, this long after release. There was a very reasonable explanation for all the briefing language errors, for instance, something about the wrong version being used in the release. Things like that happen, everyone can make mistakes. But when you do, you need to fix it ASAP. Now, we still have complaints about the briefings, like in this review, out yesterday: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/10/03/wot-i-think-army-of-the-czech-republic/ So, is there any explaination of why the most obvious problems have not yet been fixed with a quick patch? Other than the lack of a quick patch, I still say this DLC is very much worth the price. Look at how much more you have to pay for DLCs for other games, with far less content in them.

Yes, I meant CO, not OA.

What do you mean by "unable to play"? Does OA crash? Any error messages showing? Or does it start ok, but ACR is unavailable? If it's the latter, you might want to try adding -mod=ACR to your shortcut. I think someone mentioned that you need to do this even if you have ACR on Steam. Is that right, or is that only if you have a non Steam ACR?

It's also much more time consuming to micro manage 8 people than 4. And if you want the AI to be efficient in battle, you need to micro manage them.

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

I think four man teams are optimal for a single player campaign. Small enough to control easily, but big enough to bring a lot of firepower, and to continue the mission even if one or two men get killed. Sure, in real life, or if playing against human enemies, you'd want maybe a platoon or company for those kinds of missions, but controlling all of those people would be very difficult in single player. And I much prefer a four man fireteam to the two man teams you had in PMC.

Thanks OMAC, guess I'll have to replay the whole mission and hope that the error will not still be there.

Yeah, maybe that's what he meant, though I don't see how a board game hurts the economy... Maybe if it makes people buy fewer computer games? :) To stay a bit on topic, I'm getting a "Out of memory" error on the Thorn Tree mission, just after the "defend" task is completed. Anyone knows why that happens, never had any such problem before. I'm using the Steam version of OA.

Also, you obviously have no idea what a monopoly is.
  23. I'm trying to complete this mission, but after I have completed the "defend" task, the game crashes with an "Out of memory" error. What's up with that? I've never had any such problem before. I use the Steam version of OA.

You're kidding right? You can backup everything with Steam. Also, reinstallations are about a million times easier. Just reinstall Steam, then click on everything once to reinstall. With Sprocket, you need to download a separate install file for everything, then all the patches, and then install it all manually. I like to get as much money as possible to BIS too, but Steam is just so much easier and convenient that anything else out there.
