1.05 isn't far away I think. just wait.
:)

Those 3 large "tanks". Look West of that, you'll see low bulding, he is in the corner, lying down. You can see hes barrel.
Good way to bring him down:
Run from the beginning to the east side of the "tanks".
You will see half opened steel gate in the area where the tanks are.
Rush in.
Tanks should be on your right, and in front of you also low building, hangar of somekind. On your left the wall that closes tanks in this area.
Run to the wall of the hangar building on your front and go to the north corner (right again).
Zoom to the northeast, you'll see that low building behind the tanks, check out the roof, take him down. Don't go too close.

how long have you wait to pop-up the textures?

Is there a way to get enemy units to more than 1.0?
This game is way too easy...
:)
5.0 would be good.

Apache Longbow was great...
:)

are there urban areas in ArmA2?

Just think of games like GTA4.
It is free world, big and even more detailed. It also looks better.
They just did things different way in that one.
GRAW1 and GRAW2, huge world with thousands of buildings in sight, not just small village with 4 different types of buildings.
Fallout3, Oblivion, Farcry2, STALKER... huge worlds, huge detail, done in different way again.
Shame that GTA4, GRAW2, Oblivion, Fallout3, STALKER and Farcry2 are bad, bad games.
But just because this game doesn't look that good, the AI isn't ground breaking, the cities are actually quite small, the world doesn't have rivers (water usually takes good comp to look nice) and so on... the framerate problems are quite stupid.
:)

There are ways, most of them illegal.
Just use your original.
:)

True for most part, but that "most buildings" isn't very true.
:D

I prefer my own language, but sadly it isn't in ArmA2.
:p
And to clarify, I want my own language only to menus and in text format, not in voice acting.

Hi allAgain Arma2 has me shaking my head in disbelief. I upgraded from an AMD 5000+, 9600GT with 2GB DDR2 to an i7-860, 4GB DDR3 and a HD4890. Using a clean new Win7 x64 install on an Patriot Torqx SSD, Arma 1.04 with the latest beta patch.
I'm running at 1920x1200, everything on normal except post processing OFF and AnisoFiltering MAX. VD 3000 meters.
I still get dips in the low 20s with this new system, for example in the Russian tank scenario that's included in the default single missions (where you start in a T-90 commanding a second T-90). When I drive trough some parts of a village or trough a certain amount of foliage, I'm seeing 22-25 FPS. Even if I have no soldiers or other tanks in view, just some houses and foliage.
Other games run blindingly fast. Even Stalker in DX10 with max. Visual Quality never goes below 30 FPS. Fallout3, Ultra settings, constant 60 FPS. Most other legacy games at highest settings - 60FPS.
I mean, I can accept that my old system couldn't run this correctly. But short of buying a HD5870 (which was not available) and overclocking an i7-920 to 3.6 Ghz, what exactly does one need to run A2 at a somewhat smooth 30 FPS?
I can't even say where my bottleneck is - I'm inclined to think it's the CPU still, but that CPU is better than a standard clocked i7-920 in all benchmarks I checked. This is a hell of a system. What am I doing wrong?
I hope you didn't upgrade your comp just because of this game.
See my sig.
Try 400x300 windowed resolution with all off, you still get 22FPS or something.
The problem is in this game, not in your computer, just live with that and wait for fix in the future.
My friend has Radeon HD5970 Black Edition with 2GB. Watercooled. i7 975 processor, overclocked to 3.6Ghz and tons of memory (don't remember). She still gets something like 20FPS in ArmA2, no matter what settings. :)

bug, restart from previous location
-
Well that computer can't run ArmA2, that is for sure.
I think that there isn't actually any computer in the world that can.
But yes... "running" means huge frames.
Huge frames in ArmA2 means 20FPS, some other games... well 600 or something.

true.
in war there is best to use simple things that take heat, water and dirt without going down. also they are easy to repair... try to fix AC unit on field... if you have done some repairing on civilian vehicles A/C systems you know what I'm writing here. high pressures, takes right/rare tools, cooling liquid must be pure, lubrication solvents must be injected right amounts, UV water shit and it takes right computer systems and pressurizers to get those things working.

Just played these through on hardest difficulty setting, with super AI and such.
Took something like 15 minutes.
Too easy I think. Village Sweep was pathetic, just ordered all my troops in the middle of the village, didn't even have chance to see what happened, when the mission was cleared already, took less than 3 minutes.
Your ideas? Is there any way to make this harder? Weaken your allies even more?
-
I always shoot my friendlies as soon as I can, so I can go solo.
I really don't create any friendships just because that would suck if they die later on.
Sadly in this game that isn't always possible, so I just have to order them as far back as I can.

At least in our army, we primed our grenades always.
It would be foolish to throw one without it, unless you want that enemies will throw it back.
I don't mind about the bad aim in grenades thou.. you should always throw your grenade in same manner to avoid mistakes, as high as possible and as far as possible.
:)

Well then...
If that makes you feel any better,
that "drag" option is useless anyways, and you don't miss a thing.
-
They will not send you new one, they will send you the cheaper one.

Crashed somehow, start all over again.
When you choose the drag (scroll your mouse, and middle click on drag), you should be able to move slowly, just walk backwards (S key by default).

new nVidia drivers (released 5th day of this month) doesn't give any frames in ArmA2, the promised 12% of performance is given to low end cards or GT, GTS series, not GTX.
Also that performance didn't increase even one frame to me, so it must be only for those who use high AA.
:(

still having 10 fps... I'll be more happy when this game is actually playable.
other than that, nice that you fixed something, I'll check it out after the next patch is out that also gives me 30fps more.
:)
-
when is 1.05 out? is it even coming?
are they doing operation arrowhead instead, and forgetting this one?
:j:

I have GTS250 myself and the game is totally unplayable in cities, everything OFF (or LOW if there isn't OFF, view distance at 500, 640x480 resolution), I get something like 15FPS.
In forested areas it is something like 25FPS.
So goodbye to ArmA2 for me, I have buyer already.
I will test this game much later on when new patches are around.
I have 3 gigs memory on XP 32bit and get decend frames in every other game easily, even topped out graphics.
It is ArmA2, not your power.
Able to find what you need? Newbie oriented question.

I have found everything I need, but the technical help/support forum should be cleaned from useless posts/rants and all the tricks that you might try to get better FPS should be in one post only. Big collection, one part for ATI and one for Nvidia, one for XP users and one for Vista/7 users or something.
They are all messed up.
Search function is quite useless unless you can use telepathy to quess all the magic words to find the things you are looking for. Usually using just 3 or 5 words still give you hundreds of posts and only 1 percent of these might actually give you some answers.
