I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be possible to reproduce the OA thermals into ArmA2 anyway (not same engine capabilities, missing reference...).
Well I used a green camo M1A1 Abrams tank (the one from Arma 2) in the editor and it does have thermal sights. It's an Arma 2 vehicle so I assume other Arma 2 vehicles can be given the same treatment.
-
We can bring models forward to OA no problems, what we can't do is make OA contant available to Arma2.Well thats how I see it anyway.
Awesome, as long as they have thermal imaging then that's fine.
-
why not just save up your nickels and dimes from your paper route, ride your bike down to the local computer store and support BIS by buying a copy of OA.
I already own 2 copies of arrowhead. But OA doesn't have LAV-25s, Cobras, T-90s, etc . I guess a work-around would be for someone to make an LAV-25/Cobra/T-90 mod for OA with working thermal imaging.

This is a addon request; Is anyone considering giving Arma 2 vehicles thermal imaging?
The current stock of T-90 tanks should have thermal cameras; "Early models of the T-90 were equipped with the TO1-KO1 BURAN sight but later models (T-90S) were upgraded to use the ESSA thermal imaging sight, which allows for accurate firing to a range of 5000–8000 m using the CATHERINE-FC thermal camera produced by Thales Optronique".
I was thinking there are many vehicles like the T-90, AH-1 Cobra, Ka-52, LAV-25 etc that should have thermal imaging sights. Perhaps even some of the Arma 2 rifles and guns should have thermal optics as well?
Does anyone know of a mod or is working on a mod that will do this?
EDIT; Zeroing all scoped/sniper weapons in Arma 2 and zeroing vehicle guns would be nice as well. This feature works so well in Arrowhead and a port over to Arma 2 would be great.
Illegal to port OA features to ArmA 2. Atleast IIRC. Not stand alone anyways, now if it requires OA, then it would be fine.Well, if said addon required the client to own both Arma 2 and Arrowhead then it would be fine yes? Basically the addon would only work with combined ops.

So in that case. Arma 2 wasn't realistic at all. Because I could drive just as aggresivley in that without any trouble.

Tried launching Arrowhad in 'combined operations'. A command promt window opend for a second and then nothing happened. This 'fix' hasn't worked for me.

lol off-topic much?
-
To add to this discussion; it seems like other vehicles also suffer from excessive bouncy-ness. Driving over bumps will fling the vehicle into the air and make it do barrel rolls. Happend in strykers and a BMP.
It just feels like Arrowhead has the gravity turned waaay down. It was never like this in Arma 2.
-
Oh Dev Heaven deals with vanilla Arma issues? I've only used it for bug reporting in ACE.
-
Bump. Anyone noticed this?

This has actually been a bit of a problem since OFP and ARMA. Taking a bike or motorcycle down even a slight hill would make you feel like you are on a trampoline. The ATVs in A.C.E 2 were fantanstic. Did you ever try them?
-
Hi HighwayI could be wrong but experience tells me it is as likely to be a feature as a mistake. Just drive the ATVs slower off road and same as in real life don't go driving through bushes and in to boulders. Then tell us if you are experiencing the same injury levels. ;)
ArmA is supposed to be a simulator and not just a game like COD. So simulating the injuries you would get from being a numpty sound right to me.
Should make for some interesting vehicle chat from passengers in MP games :D
I like the Darwinism in ArmA.
Kind Regards walker
Well I think my first post wasn't clear. I'm not hitting obstacles. Not bushes or rocks. Just lighly undulating terrain.

Playing Domination, driving the Stryker MHQ around the deserts. I was taking damage as I drove over bumpy terrain (not from collisions, just driving around). I eventually died without warning as I'd been taking damage as I drove. Unless you are on roads, you'd better have a medic on standby when using a stryker.
Additionally, the Strykers armour doesn't stop small arms fire. I was taking some M4 fire from team mates and was killed. And yet the vehicle remained fully functional, as if I had been shot out of the driving seat. This happened a few times. The Stryker should have a bulletproof ceramic skin to protect from these threats, but the ones in Arrowhead do not.

I had this on Tuesday night. But playing today, I didn't crash once. I can't say why it suddenly stopped. But I can backup the original poster and say this is true.
-
So the response to my topic is, "ATVs are just as impossible to ride in real life"? Hehe I'll stick to motorbikes then. :D
-
Has anyone tried driving the ATVs in OA? They are very bouncy. Even driving over bumpy ground causes them to bounce around and then roll over, killing the driver and passenger. 'All terrain' they are not.:(

The fact that you can't play on proper dedicated severs using the demo is a massive fail.
When playing the demo I was forced to play games hosted on peoples PCs. Too much lag, etc. Not to mention the crashes and limited selection of missions.
The full game however, amazing! Been playing it a year and still can't get enough.

Arma 2 Project Reality. PvP action comming soon.

WTf is this guy on about?

works good when your prone, the MK 48 and the Pecheneg is quite a "marksman-machinegun" when you lie down and fire. Machineguns wont be very accurate when you are crouched or standing up.Dont know for sure, but the reason for using red dots or magnifying scopes on machineguns might be because it will be easier to concentrate the fire over long distances, which again is useful in desert combat where cover is sparse.
Dude is right. I use the M240 with the m145 scope for picking off targets at range. A 100 round belt = 100 dead bodies :D.

Where can I find more info? It's a bit sketchy here.

Any chance of a download link to this soundtrack? The one I found only contains 3/4 of the tracks.

I'm looking at videos of people flying around in jets. Many use camer angles that I can't understand. They can't be from the perspective of another soldier or from the jet pilot itself.
It's like they have a camera floating around the sky. Like they were using a crows perspective but it's far faster and smooth than a crow could ever be.
Anyone know of mods which can give me these great cinemative views?
[MP/Team] Sa-Matra's Wasteland
in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
Posted
Best Wasteland version by far. Such a shame it's only on a handful of servers. I encourage all hosts to switch to Sa Matra as it's 1,000 more fun. Keep up the good work.
