Those screens look epic. Nice resolution on the mystery chopper too, so it WAS both a KA-52 and a MI-28. Nice going BIS. Also, are those Merkavas? Will we get a proper penetration system along with those, if the question is permitted? :P
-
I retract my previous statements. This looks positively EPIC. Go BI, definitive purchase. JUST MAKE SURE IT`S BUGFREE THIS TIME M´KAY?
-
I dearly hope so. And I don´t know, maybe this has been in the works for a while and the release date is much closer? Not so sure. Hoping for another expansion though!
-
If this really is A3, I´m going to be severely disappointed. Arma 2 is just starting to shine now, I don´t want to, and won´t, spend 50 bucks on another iteration of a game that´s not even close to being dead yet. Hopefully this is another expansion.

British Armed Forces Mission 3: Heat
instagoat replied to casualowl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
The way I did it was planting a GMG on the little crest behind the sandbags on the side of the FOB facing the village, and nailed both the first M113 and the BMP2 using that. The convoy drives right past the FOB, but the objective seems to be bugged: I destroyed both vehicles and still got the objective canceled. -

instagoat replied to Undeceived's topic in OFFTOPIC
So my friend got the game, tried it out, and has come to a verdict. It isn´t worth the money he´d to spend on it. The AI´s apparently been improved over DR to being loyal and obedient to a fault, only occasionally glitching out, teleporting or getting stuck. Gunplay is weak. Weapons don´t feel like they have any proper recoil. Enemies are moderately deadly. Stand out in the open for too long and you´re a goner. Sometimes they even hit with their first shot, the dispersion shield seems to be gone. Graphics are shit. Texture and LOD scaling is weak. Textures are generally low res, blurry, brown messes. Models are also comparatively low res, sometimes extremely so. Game tries to cover this up with lots of fancy postprocess effects. Voice acting is actually very decent, apart from the constant blathering. A mediocre game, lost somewhere between Arma and mainstream shooters, but what it tries to convey, it conveys rather decently. He´s at mission 3 right now, and at this point in time rates the game 6.5/10. He´s not familiar with the original OFP and its heritage, and usually doesn´t play sims. I trust his verdict. -

Their forums seem to be much less ablaze with protest than they were with DR. General traffic also seems to be much lower though... maybe people have learned their lesson from DR and didn´t even bother with the game this time? I won´t touch this, though, until they release a demo like last time. A friend of mine is interested in the game and will probably get it... he likes to play both good and bad games, bad games mostly to reassure why the good games are good. He´ll tell me how it actually is then. :V Myself, I was almost interested when they released their first trailers, but then BI announced their Helo sim and I got back into IL2. Having seen the campaign footage, though, they´ve lost me. Not interested in this pretend marine bollocks. -
IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover

After two patches, still no luck for me. Game isn´t running, and if its running its crashing. Missions still don´t load. Random menu options still freeze the comp. :V Fun times. I actually am starting to think Maddox is trolling us, and this really is a computer-crash-simulator and not a flightsim. Maybe he got fed up with the "The mustang ees porked" whiners and this is his revenge? -

I don´t know why everypony keeps complaining about Arma 2 being bugged at release. I didn´t have any problems with it, apart from the poor performance and some bugged campaign missions. No hard crashes or freezes, no damaged content or malfunctioning missions (apart from the campaign mishs obvsly). The game RAN at release, that´s what counts. Its a humongously complex and deep piece of software, which should be kept in mind. IL2 Cliffs of Dover after two patches isn´t even loading for me, aside from all the other bugs it has, like random menu options causing the game to freeze up, buggy water rendering or missing textures. OF:DR was very polished at release, but that´s the only thing I´ll give the game. Other than that it was a bad concept, badly executed. The "Hardcore" difficulty mode is testament to the lack of ideas they had. Since when is removing the HUD a difficulty mode? OF:RR won´t be any different. The only thing it has over DR is a narrative campaign set in the middle of the desert inbetween some mountains. With foulmouthed pretend-marines ignoring radio discipline and brevity, with M16A4s with A2 handguards and army hydration packs. No mission editor, no modding community, probably no deep post-release support or DLCs, just a whole bunch of patriotic fervor and a fancy menu screen. Prefer Arma 2 over this much. At least I can be a goat in this game. Shooting rockets out of my nostrils. -

Wow, Codies. Just watched the first 15 minutes video of this game and, wow. Simply wow. I can´t express my amazement at how fantastic this game is. Now excuse me while I go back to watching my little pony. Need something to compensate for the distilled awesome of RR. Wow. ... Wow -
IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover
instagoat replied to Hans Ludwig's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Something must´ve gone wrong with the game code. The way it´s running (or rather, not running at all) for me as it is, is terrible. I´ve now figured out that I can´t load -any- of the missions, quick missions or FMB missions apart from the tutorials... On top of that the abysmal performance and numerous other glitches. Their excuse is that "PCs are difficult to develop for because there´s so many different setups.", which I don´t buy. BI manages to get Arma, an also humongously complicated program, to run on the largest part of machines. Many other companies produce games that run well on most PCs, as WELL AS on Consoles! I don´t know what they´ve been doing all this time, but their quality control really is a catastrophe. I´ve even reinstalled 1946 and ditched CoD for the time being, because right now it´s simply unplayable. I´ll wait a few patches, and if there´s no improvement, I´ll give the game back. -

Yeah, I did. Didn´t try it with the filter on, but it apparently does produce a noticeable drop in fps. I really hope this isn´t a sign of Maddox being in financial trouble or anything, though, because if they go belly up, we´ll be stuck with this wreck. I think it really has potential, the planes look amazing, and the flight model itself is fantastic again, and once in the air the landscapes aren´t bad either. It´s just that the thing is riddled with more bugs than our lawn right now. -

bought the game today, tested it, and I must say it´s a hog. Arma 2 was finely polished upon release compared to this. Performance is abysmal, even when using low gfx settings. Missions don´t load. Flicking certain options causes the game to freeze up completely, needing a hard reboot. Options ticked are not remembered by the game upon restart. Loading, if Missions load at all, is slow. And this is only the things I discovered after running it for 15 minutes... one hard reboot, one CTD and four lockups in that time. I am mildly disappointed, I have to say, though I trust maddox to up their game and fix this before it turns from a medium sized catastrophe to a complete catastrophe. (But at least the shadows in the cockpit look good, if you can get ingame.) -

It seems they were really pulling every single stop on how they believe a marine type should talk. I´ve got one marine in a community where I am in, and from the stories he tells, they´re much more subtle than what CM makes them out to be. If it´s really as bad as it seems to be, I will probably be laughing all the way trough the game... if I can find someone among my friends who´d actually buy it, because as it is right now, I´d not spend a cent on this myself. -

I wanted to buy this right after it was out, then I missed the release day. Now I come back to it and it seems to be a mess of a release... How bad is it, really? Compared to how well Arma 2 ran at release (which I found decent, but not perfect) -

Really wondering if there´ll be a similar shitstorm going down on their boards upon release as has been when they released DR. So far the game is looking... slimmer than the last. -

:< Hey, I´m an offline only person. There´s only so much fun to be had running around forests and shooting guys in blue pants 24/7. But, jokes aside, I´ve been playing Arma 2 -only- ever since it´s been released, only intermittedly throwing in some Flallout:NV and Metro 2033, so I´ve been a little filled up with it. I still have things to do, though, like finishing the PMC campaign. Yet, really, something new and potentially brilliant from my favourite games studio? Sure buy. -

Like I said in the other thread, this is superb stuff. I was close to getting bored with your stuff, BI, but you´ve got my attention back alright. A proper civilian helo sim is something that´s been missing from the market for years, and combined with (possibly) a business sim aspect, a solid flight model, and the expandeabillity and modeabillity we know from your OFP/Arma series games, this will be the next best thing since sliced bread. All thumbs up for this, me and my friends will be watching this space really closely in the future. Finally something to draw my attention away from Red River :D -

I would imagine this game taking place in the "Armaverse" too, with all the stuff that´s been going on there. Maybe we´ll even get a PMC expansion at some later date for TakeOn, flying Kasatkas around an expanded map of Takistan? The possibillities are endless... right now at least I think this is the best new thing since sliced bread. (The least it did was draw my attention away from Red River) -

Personally, I´m really pleased with this revelation. That it was teased in via the Arma 2 facebook is a small bump compared to what this might do. There are no good civilian helicopter sims around nowadays, and especially none that offer a proper campaign (and in this case probably even a solid business simulation, where you have to buy helicopters, recruit personell and do missions), good flight-modelling and beautiful worlds to fly in. Plus, this will probably be as infinitely expandeable as Arma 2 is, with all the tools BI provides. Both thumbs up on this, BI. Is was close to getting bored with all that Arma 2 milsim stuff, but you have my attention again now! Keep it up -
ACE 1.9 (Advanced Combat Enviroment) for OA/CO
instagoat replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
It happens for all vehicle and static automatic weapons, just some of them seem to be more inaccurate than others. I´m almost tempted to go over them myself and make a ticket, but I think that´s redundant as the ACE people probably know very well themselves how they´ve tuned their weapons. It´s just that in some cases, the tuning seems to be very off, as in the M134s case, where the weapon is pretty much ineffectual when used by the AI. -

http://img692.imageshack.us/i/spreadd.jpg/ Hello I´ve found that the spread in some of the mounted machineguns in ACE is very high. I just wanted to confirm that this is a bug, or wether it is intentional that some of the vehicle mounted guns such as the M134 on the Littlebirds, or the PMC SUV can´t hit anything. Looking forward to a quick reply Insta (And no, this isn´t fade: all other weapons are zeroed perfectly, and I´m not being turned into a bird. This is only true for vehicle mounted weapons, and machinegunners.) -
