Fatigue Feedback (dev branch)
instagoat replied to solzenicyn's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Learn to play the system. It's finally the way it is supposed to be, punishing you for getting overweight. If you don't want to get exhausted, take less mags and ditch the plate carrier for a bandolier or only a backpack. Only trouble right now is that AI is leaving behind their AT gunners and other heavily weighed down units, on my first couple of test runs. Otherwise, brilliant. Please don't castrate the system again- 1935 replies

At a distance, I notice machineguns on tanks especially cutting out badly or not playing samples at all when rapid firing. As if the samples are swallowing and cancelling each other out. Further, the sound aliasing when firing tank guns is still present, as well as on some other weapons/vehicles. Video here: This sound bug is currently especially bad inside the tanks, on all guns. Machineguns even cause audible electric buzzing artifacts (overload?).

Toadie's SmallArms and Animations for Arma3
instagoat replied to toadie2k's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
For some reason the scopes work, but do not physically show up when mounted. Is there some conflict I am missing? I have the most recent Joint Rails, so that's not it... I am also on beta, could that be a cause? -
Finding out what the actual customer thinks about the things you do is difficult, though. I'm not really sure how it could be done (Steam surveys, possibly?), because waiting to see how sales and consumption develop always puts you behind the curve. However, the new things BI is showing with the recently presented Bootcamp update are interesting. I have pretty much stopped playing Arma 3 recently and switched to War Thunder, mostly because I am unhappy with how armor protection for vehicles and infantry works in this game, and because the AI is mostly a source of frustration in recent updates. Not their precision, but rather their handling and speed of spotting and shooting at targets: best example is the virtually blind tanks. The lack of interesting game modes and gameplay systems in multiplayer, which isn't helping with fostering multiplayer culture, is exagerrating the AI problem even more to me. Joining a squad isn't an option because hose require an additional investment in time and effort beyond the game I simply cannot spare at this point in time, and gameplay modes I am actually interested in are nonexistent right now. Warthunder offers me the kind of gameplay as far as speed is concerned, but I'd rather have that fast-paced dive in and win (or loose but still have fun) experience but with the Arma 3 gameplay, world and assets. So far, most of my friends have been on the fence as far as Arma 3, but I hope that future developments will convince them. Sound, Performance and AI are critical for that, and neither of those are satisfactory right now. Especially the sound is broken, with problems that have existed since alpha unadressed: Sound distortion and artifacts when firing machineguns (sharp crackling and overboost cutouts), sound aliasing artifacts when firing the main guns on the tanks, MG sounds cutting out over distance or not playing at all, etc. Many of those problems have been on the tracker for a long time too.

Gun jittering when running and exhausted since last update
instagoat replied to Niklas's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It's not a bug, it's intentional. Why do people always scream bug when something changes, they even talked about this in their recent opreps.... -
Does anyone know how to put fluorescent colours on textures?
instagoat replied to kdk11's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
But what setting/texture combination produces flourescent surfaces, if that is at all possible? -
ALiVE - Advanced Light Infantry Virtual Environment
instagoat replied to wolffy.au's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Superb! It appears to be working now, much more movement on the map this time around. Thanks for the quick help! -
"Added: Inertia for ACP-C2 Independent pistol" What does this mean, actually? I don't notice any changes, is this not actually enabled, or...?

RHS: Armed Forces of the Russian Federation A3 WIP Thread
instagoat replied to soul_assassin's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
AAF Plate carrier is completely different from the IOTV. It is very akin to the bullet proof vests produced in China and Pakistan, among others and does not compare as far as design finesse. The AAF PC has no PALS rigging, and probably either has the pouches attached through a drawstring system or permanently affixed. It has no side plates, only cummerbunds. Instead of shaped plates like the IOTV has, fitted from the inside, it only has two large pouches in front and back on the outside of the vest's body. http://www.bodyarmor-rongyi.com/bulletproof-vest/40.html <- this is very alike the AAF plate carrier. https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6178/6207850196_3e145f7cd5_z.jpg <- IOTV. Much more snug. It also features a quick release (one pull and the vest comes apart to get at an injured soldier, without having to manually pry the vest to pieces.) as well as the modular protective attachments. As far as ergonomics go, the ITOV is probably superior. As to how good it actually is to use when being shot at I can't say for lack of experience, but I would expect it to be at least less bulky and easier to move around in than these massive chinese produced vests. There's also differences in coverage because of the way the plates are fitted in the vest. Both feature soft armor too, though. -
Discussion Arma 3 first-person perspective
instagoat replied to narcissu's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
VBS has the head of a soldier move to the weapon when aiming down sights. It'd be really cool if aiming down sights would actually involve the weapon moving to the POV, rather than the other way around. Don't move your head to your weapon, move your weapon to your head, etc. However, that's probably involving animation work galore, and I'd rather have BI focus on other things. For example, getting rid of the bloody hitpoints system for tanks and disabling all vehicles blowing up all the time. -
ALiVE - Advanced Light Infantry Virtual Environment
instagoat replied to wolffy.au's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Weird, I have a requires ALiVE module placed. Loading still happens in the simulation it seems. I look forward to your findings, I'll experiment another bit myself later today to see if I can find out if changing around modules changes something. Thanks for the quick reply too! -
ALiVE - Advanced Light Infantry Virtual Environment

Unfortunately I can't access devheaven, it's giving me an error (Error code: sec_error_ocsp_unknown_cert). I have upload the text of the mission.sqm in full here: http://pastebin.com/aav6S7QS Getting it ingame should only be a copy-paste job, but I still apologize for only having this method to give it to you. I have checked my markers and modules again, and it's either so obvious that I am completely missing it, or something weird is happening with my game. I am not using any mods apart from CBA and Alive with this. -
ALiVE - Advanced Light Infantry Virtual Environment

I can't seem to get the CP and CQB modules to work for some reason. I have a marker called CIV, which is designated as TAOR in the CP and CQB modules. All other modules seem to work, the markers disappear and units/objectives spawn. The Civ marker stays on the map, and the CP module does not seem to take effect. Am I doing something wrong? -
DiamondBack (don't expect frequent updates)
instagoat replied to zeealex's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'd totally be for doing the face plates as NV-mounted gear, since the equipment is helmet mounted in the original designs too. The default NV-Goggles cause no problems when flipped down, maybe there's a trick to avoiding the trouble? -
1: Okay, I give you that. Nevertheless, german KSK is allowing women into their admission program (Equal standards, so no female has passed yet afaik, but that's where you're pushing the limits of male physiology, so it's no real surprise), so it can't be that much of a problem. When in doubt, shoot the dog. 2: Where's your sources? Anybody can claim anything on the internet. Baseless arguments from authority don't prove anything. The psychological problem is artificially made: we value women differently, but that is sociological not biological. If men would treat women as equals instead of sub humans (which is what this is about, at bottom.), this would not be as problematic. 3: Same point. Culturally ingrained sexual bias. There are undeniable physiological and minor psychological differences between men and women. However, as the technology level rises and physiological differences are equalized through training and equipment short term and evolution in the mid term. (such as evidenced by the constant changes in age of maturity we are experiencing, as well as hormonal differences across generations caused by exposure to our own society.) People who argue against women in combat roles should either plainly state that their interest lies in sticking with the established order for conservative/comfort reasons or actually put up some evidence why women in trenches is a bad idea.

The difference between shooting a male and a female human being is what, exactly? Even the Cods and Baddulfields have female character models. BI also have stated before that the reason they were not put in was time and resources, so I hope that we will see them at some point. Take on Helicopters had full female voice profiles for players. It didn't care if the unit it assigned the voice to was male or female (as in, the 3D model), but it regularily caused Units to voice themselves as females. I once had a "female" squad leader when playing the OA merge on the big Karzhegistan map. So, there.

Is Arma 3's AI so unusually accurate? I don't think so
instagoat replied to Frankdatank1218's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Stalkers AI was very unforgiving at high levels of difficulty, so much so that it was caged for the vanilla game. Mods make you dread getting into combat, especially because of grenades. The AI's handling of grenades in Arma meanwhile is neither here nor there, I think: for the most part, they don't even seem to be using them anymore, at least for me. -

Oh, another emotionally manipulative and hyperbolic "documentary", is it? Asking us to "wake up"? Ruddy hell. -
Regarding the vehicles reversing issue, will some attention be given to that? It's been affecting especially armored vehicles for quite a long while now. http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=18087

Marksmens and Helicopters is free ?
instagoat replied to drakedaeron's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
People without the DLCs will probably get "reduced quality" content, just like when BAF and PMC were released. The only one that didn't do that was the CZ DLC, I believe. -
High explosive anti tank, should be a multi-purpose shell designed to engage vehicles with light and medium armor, buildings and static weapons.

Those who like ARCO and Holosight, please vote for the bug.
instagoat replied to lao fei mao's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
If the sight is centered on the rail, and the reticle is off-center, it should be counted as intentional, because the optic would likely behave the same way irl. Anybody out there who actually owns an eotech XPS who could take a picture? -
The Army Combat Uniform Mod
instagoat replied to Richards.D's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The only real downside of this addon is the shape of the torso which causes bad clipping even with the bulkiest vests, as well as the absence of modelled shoulder pockets. Because they are merely textured on, they warp, and look rather fake. Could something be done about this? The IOTVs are much too large too, even for the normal ACU Soldier. THe vest is comparatively tight fitting in real life, at least when put against chicom or pakistani vests like that the AAF uses. (Third pic). Really liking this so far, though. Would love to see it develop and improve on the original BI model, too. Cheers Insta -
The Army Combat Uniform Mod
instagoat replied to Richards.D's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I have to report the same error: When adding the uniforms whichever way, you only get undies instead of the uniform. The error log also shows a lot of things happening, mostly the game complaining about A2 addons not being found. For the uniforms not showing, possibly there is a conflict of some sort? I am not using any large mods aside from addons (mostly weapons and some vehicles), as well as the A3 Maps mod. I will put a list together tomorrow and see if I can figure out if using no mods makes the problem go away, right now I am on my way to sleep. -
Final Edit for humour: APDS kills Ifrits, gets stopped dead by the windshield of the SUV. In fact, all small arms get stopped by it. Ditto for the rear windows. Wups, doublepost. Sorry! I should not post here anymore, I am breaking the thread, but this testing has gotten me excited
