hi, using ASUS Xonar D2X and i´ve got nop problems, so maybe the x-fi is the weak point. connecting my AV receiver(onkyo HT-R548) and PC via Toslink. set to 6 channel audio and dolby digital live.(DTS Interactive works too) perfect sourround sound for me.

i´ve done some testing on this case, with some friends both lan and on dedi over the web. i host the dedi on a 2600k(4,6ghz), fix on 4 threads, the other 4 are for the client i play with. fps are allways smooth and gfx card is limiting fps(2x2SSAA/16AF on HD6970), even when dedi is on low fps around 15fps. my mates(amd1100T@3,6ghz+GTX470 and AMD 965@3,8ghz+HD5850) are playing on my dedi, it normally runs fine, always gfx limited. but if the dedi is on low fps(many ai+vehicles) their fps just get unplayable. (me 45fps, dedi 25fps, 1100T 20fps and 965 around 10fps). gfx load for them is at almost zero. without many vehicles it runs fine for them at 500+AI but with vehicles its over. so (a lot of)vehicles are fps killer for my friends, even with latest betas.

some more infos would be very usefull. cpu, ram, hdd because my hd6970 runs fine at max settings max AA and so on with 10k viewdistance. my ssd and the 2600k@ 4.55ghz crunching al that and so i got smooth 30-35fps. if i lower the viewdistance, the fps get up to 45fps, smooth 45 fps. the card is running@ 933mhz on catalyst 11.9 windows 7 home premium 64bit gpu-z 5.5 shows that the vram is used with 1,8-1,9gb(+ 230mb cached in system ram) my gtx570(1280mb vram) gets lower fps and runs smooth too, just with 3d resolution settings above 100%(1080p)the amd hd 6970 stutters, even with AA off and the gtx runs slow but smooth. i think in zargabad, fast ssd and cpu is more essential than a videocard. maybe fast ddr3 system ram(1600+) would help too if not already installed. a good mate just upgraded from phenom 2 x4 and ddr2 to overclocked phenom 2 x6+ddr3 1600 and an ssd and got fps plus in zargabad from around stutterly 12fps(all on gtx470) to around 20fps and smooth.

make sure you have pagefile activated and set to 2gb minimum. arma 2 engine uses pagefile even if 8gb system ram are availible.

i read so many in this thread about 5.1 not working, but why in gods name i have got full 5.1 sourround? if a friend online drives around me in a abrams i could clearly say on which position he is. got an xonar d2x, gx disabled, in game on 128 sounds set. if i throw a grenade and turn fast the sound of the explosion is turning around me on all 5 speakers. in pvp i can clearly say where the enemy is, even how far away he is. normal windows 7 64bit, normal arma 2 co, normal sandy bridge sys.

your cpu is too slow, even when 955 is that very well prized. oc your cpu to 3.8-4.0GHz that will improve your fps, together with 4gb ram and oced gfx card. buy an ssd an you will feel an improvement too. i upgraded from 965be 4gb DDR2 ram and normal hdd for arma 2 to i7 2600k (oc to 4,5ghz) and 8gb ddr3(1866) and low cost 60gb ssd(f60) and it doubles my fps. gfx card on both : HD5850, now with hd6970(950/1500mhz) it even runs smooth 60fps on chernarus with full aa(not very high aa, it´s called "8" or so) hey and set 4:3 to 16:10, your field of view is wrong on 4:3!

good 7200rpm hdds should get about 120mb/s ->avg(!) less than 14ms access time and a burst rate way beyond 100mb/s my hdd(samsung f3 500gb, only for games) max:141mb/s(new it was about 155mb/s) min: 71mb/s avg: 116mb/s(very old modell sadly) i can play arma 2 warfare chernarus/takistan with about 40-60fps(singleplayer style) phenom 2 x4@3,8ghz hd5850(980/1200mhz) 6gb ram all at max and 3d resolution on 150% lg

hi again, the caviar greens are very slow, due to their powersaving stuff(5400rpm,etc) i updated from a samsung f1(100mb/s) to samsung f3 (150mb/s) and got my fps plus, the 3gb/s only tells how fast the interface can go in their dreams. get "hdtune" and test your hdd maybe you get 3gb/s^^

hi, what hdd is in your rig? maybe there is the bottleneck, i upgraded my hdd just slightly(from100mb/s to 150mb/s) an got ~10fps more.

arrowhead has build in ambient occlusion: from post fx medium to very high the strenght of the ambient occlusion effekt changes.

jeah, the DMR is my all time favorite, in close combat my friends came with m4, m249 and i´ve got some free time or let the 1911 speak for itself. on the russian side i really like to play with the aks/aks gold(anticamo!) so light, and a one shot killer up to 300m, and a pkp for long range in vanilla or the good old dragunov.

hi on my windows 7 64bit sys the mods load fine with or without launcher, even all flags work fine under windows 7. i didn´t run arma 2 as admin and compatibility mode is off. my mods are all in the normal arma 2 folder- i´ve got a fast hdd^^.

wow really, atm the best vehicle sound mod for arma2. big thanks to the ones build this masterpiece! on a xonar audio card+ 5.1 home theatre this soundmod really comes to life. i hope the brake ends when OA comes out^^ (schöne grüße aus deutschland!)

hi, one word to benchmark 2, my 3,7GHz phenom 2 get 18fps in this test- at 40%load(all max, 1680x1050) so i think even a core I7 wont get more on my system. on my pc the hdd is limiting in this test, random reads all the time kill the fps. in benchmark1 i´ve got 43fps, while the hd4870 is limiting, and benchmark1 is more that what you have to expect if you play arma2 single or multiplayer.

hi, ati tray tools(att) screwed up my textures like that and even worse. if you use att try to uninstall it. arma 2 even don´t like catalyst registry tweaks on my sys.

I have to report the same, in a warfare benny edition round, every friendly AI(about 50 soldiers) is in front off a town- doing nothing. the vehicles assaulting like they should, but without dieing the AI don´t buy vehicles. after capturing a town the AI rushes forward to the next town to do there nothing again. so we have to do it our selfs- in a 3 man lan- every goddamn city(AI setting 100% both+ super AI).

yeah my windows 7 does the same. but on my windows 7 i have to reinstall arma 2 very often because arma screws itself up everytime i install the second or third beta(with uninstalling the old one). but i think it´s related to the rc1 i use.

if you look at the changelog closely, you will se that the only noted change ist build 59988, so there is enough space for performance tweaks to build 60000;).
