  1. @ colonel-ONeil: with single 780gtx you can get decent fps according to this side: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/Arma-3-PC-236876/Specials/ArmA-3-Beta-Test-Benchmarks-1076533/ text german but benchmarks in english, but they used an oced 4770k so this is quietly ideal. if you can wait for ivybridge 2011 cpus, for gaming i would recommend a single cpu board optimised for ghz(i7 4960x@4.5ghz) and with hyper threading off + a single 780gtx oc. i hope your servers a dedicated machines, all with intel i5/7 cpus, because if you run dedi and client on the same machine the mobo bandwith is too slow, ending in stuttering at high fps. and all amd cpus are just by far too slow to host anything decend. @ WalkerDown: as said before, sli support is just not there from nvidia so multi gpu stuttering is common. to support a gtx 780 you need at least i5/7(with ht off) at 4.5ghz+ fast ram(~2000mhz+) and a sata 6gb/s ssd. to both, i run very smooth fps(no stuttering) with a i72700k(ht off ;) )@ 4.4ghz+ 7970GE+2133mhz ram+ samsung 830 ssd. even online if the server is well hosted(over 30 fps) which is the most common bad performance cause, not to mention just bad programmed missions(wasteland/rp missions mostly)

    release of Altis map

multiplayer performance will just get better if either the mission makers getting all pros over night, and don´t code monsters like wasteland or you host yourself with an decend rig and decend bandwith. of cause a new intel cpu will lift your arma performance to a new level, but for now mission makers(use more hc!!!) and lame hosts are the bigger problems online.

    low fps with 7970

atoc and fsaa kills performance on mine 7970@1150/1700mhz playing 2x msaa/fsaa compined with fxaa ultra and atoc off, rest ultra and runs fine at 1080p. even in the forests still over 60fps. 7970 is backed up by core i7 2700k at 4,4ghz and ht off.
  4. guy get yourself a ssd and no more lod probs at all, maybe an decent fast hdd will do the same job(at least 110mb/s avg read in hdtune). defragmentation does wonders in arma 2 lods probs back in the days as well^^. lets explain it this way, you will get better lod loading with less hdd use if you compress things harder, but this will increase cpu usage due to decompress and u will stay with the same lod lag in the end. so faster hdd/ssd is the only way. got a samsung 830 128gb, no probs.
  5. a fx6300 would bottleneck a 7970ghz ed. very hard, get 8350, anything else is money thrown out off the window. but an fx 8350 will still struggle pretty hard if it gets to highest settings, only intel cpus can crunch decent scenarios on highest settings, and that only if you overclock them quite ab bit.(reference: gits evolution in lan, 3km viewdistance,2.5km object distance) a fx8350@ 5ghz should be able to be on par with an 2700k@4ghz, start imagine an i7 3770k@4.6ghz or i7 4770k@4,5ghz can do. next real amd high end cpu is anounced by amd for the timespace 2015-2016, so amd plattform is pretty death until then for high end gaming in sims like arma 3, unless you stick to stock singleplayer scenarios and campaign in the final game. in photo and video editing the fx8350 beats almost all 4core/8thread intel cpus, but it should be done on gfx card by any decent programm unless totally outdated.
  6. you may try get a mouse from razer or roccat and test this again, other than that is a phenom x4 and a 6850 quite a bit too slow to handle heavy load in arma 3(can and can not be related to your mouse/input lag. shutting off vsync helps a lot with input lag, the more the slower your hardware is. i would try to test if mouse/input lag is still there with all settings minimum in the editor(no ai scripts, etc) using razer imperator and logitech g9 for testing now, no issues, but my rig is quite a bit faster than yours. i7 2700k@ 4.6ghz 2133mhz ram 8gb hd 7970@ 1150/1700mhz other than taht is the g5 mouse well known for its heavy mouse lag an different systems, you may look official logitech forums, they are aware of it since 2010. hope this helps you in enjoying arma 3 alpha.

GTX 560 TI, i7 1st Gen, FPS Optimization

set object details to low or normal, as it only affects on which distance things like glas of houses is visualy present, on i7 920 of one of my clan mates 2,5km viewdistance and 1,3k object distance was no prob in multiplayer and i7920 should be slightly slower then your i7 870. also try to get pagefile on different disk as arma3(not partition, physical hard drive if there) so many of the data transport is separated on 2 channels. cpucount 8 uses 4 cores, for utilizing ht you must set to cpucount 12, this benefits the most with threadparking of, but only 1-2fps. if no ssd is in the rig, try to make arma 3 partition at the beginning of the harddrive, where it´s the most fast. my clanmate can play big evo mission with around 30-45fps in agia marina, with ssd it should gain fps alot but he also has none, he uses gtx 560 ti 448 cores which offer maybe slightly more power then normal 560 ti. me hosting the mission local getting 75-90fps on i7 2700k@4.6ghz and samsung 830 ssd, and of cause the hd7970 helps alot with 3gb, minimizing streaming as many can held in the graphics ram.

    Just Overclocked my CPU.

im glad my oc runs whisper quiet on my watercooled rig^^ to ram oc: in high density scenarios ram oc really grant it´s benefits, like hosting a busy server, or playing evo like missions on local pc. @ TONSCHUH: what is your CPUVID and VCore? an i7 3770 is easy to oc like a 2700k, but you have to remove the IHS and change the thermalpaste under it, sandy bridge is soldered to IHS, Ivybridge is just connected to it by some thermalpaste, thats the only difference for oc. with watercooling(due to it´s lower weight) you can run a 3770k even without IHS for maximum cooling. but just for pros because you can easely kill your cpu having no clue what you are doing. @ Bee8190: the 7850 is limiting the 3570 in all ways, of cause you will not gain much fps with cpu oc then, exept you were hosting or so. think my corsair ax750 will do the powersupply job quite well.

    Just Overclocked my CPU.

oced my 2700k to 4,4ghz, got 2133mhz(effective) ram and a samsung 830 ssd, in infantrie showcase all max exept viewdistance(2500m) 80-120fps. every arma scales almost 1:1 with every mhz you put on, due to it´s way to handle simulations. glad to hear even first gen fx users can benefit from oc that well.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

then your rig must be quite some ... you know it^^ arma 2 runs well on low end dual cores like phenom x2 550 and 4850 graphic cards, not on max, but thats not intended with so old and slow hardware. and todays mission makers don´t look how it runs on low end systems but on mid to high end systems. and i like that missions are not over after 100 ai are gone(which a 550 easely runs, even local multiplayer. to call arma 3 a simply graphics overhaul is not fair, because gameplay is much different now, much more fluent and sometimes even fast paced, you will never get that feeling in ofp or arma 1/2. the armor (body or vehicle ) is on a new level too and the performance is a blast, even faster than arma 2 when hosting local game.

    CPU cores

i think he mean the new i3 3xxx series and not the very old i3 3xx series. i would recommend to look at this chart here as it better show what your cpu will perform like: http://i.imgur.com/R9KuQPR.jpg best cpu for arma will be the one after broadwell, with ddr4, as arma loves bandwith since arma 1.

MP COOP GITS EVOLUTION - main thread

with revive off, 2.9 runs fine, just ab bit less performant as 2.8/7 but i think there are more enemies on each setting. non dedi, played officer, medic and repair specialist. is it possible that there are more divers? a guy on my server was overwhelmed by over 20 divers in agia, he shot down the most but every one instant throwing two grenades was too much for him to stand of any longer ^^
  13. xXxatrush1987

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

as arma3 detects 3770k as 4 core processor by default it´s indeed just placebo. back in arma 2 days cpucount=4 was a blast performance wise with i7 cpus. arma2 was handling i7s like 8core processors, which causes heavy lag due to cores waiting for ht-cores never getting done their work^^. a thing i7 cpu user could try is cpucount=12 and thread parking disabled, in theory this could boost performance as all 8 frontends should be used properly then. well, history now.
  14. in arma 2 there no lod issues with my 7970 or the ones of my friends, always max setting and no flickering or corruption like this. regardless if normal or dev build, regardless of any quality settings allways the same, tested several cards now, so i assume it is a lod issue by bis, and has nothing to do with amd or nvidia gfx cards in specific. tested cards: 7970/ghz edition 7950/ghz edition 7770 6970 gtx 570 gtx 680 gtx 560ti 448 cores and finally gtx 560 ti all tested with beta or nonbeta drivers and allways the same.
  15. looks like faulty lod, you may report it in bug tracker. i had it the same way and gtx560 ti448 and hd7970 differ in no way with this faulty lod glitch

MP COOP GITS EVOLUTION - main thread

with dev version all runs fine, slightly slower perfomance wise as 2.8 and 2.7. pei ftw^^
  17. i would highly appreciate better textures and better trees, maybe because i´m not everywhere complaining about my 100$/€ cpu capable of steering a moon rover with luck. and that you are not able to read is shown here too, as you start whining with the gtx690 user, when at least 90% already know that sli profiles is a nvidia thing and has nothing to do with BIS and for such a highly simulating engine it´s quite capable(not perfect- no way). dx11 and physx will give us at least a perfomance boost, as both are far more optimized as dx9 and physics by BIS, espacially in terms of vegetation and lightning.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

well sixgears, if you would read the thread well i allready wrote that amd fx Processors just have a way too slow frontend to even support low end cards like yours proberly. i alos wrote that with amd cpus object detail must be at standard or low because they can´t handle the sheer mass of objects and get their frontend stalled. you can do something against it with ocing the uncore and core parts of the fx to max, but even a 5ghz fx8350 just performs as fast as a i7 920, which is very old. i said also that i ask for exact specs on 955: everything ultra and objects low, no aa and postfx. and the owner of the system knows that he just met the recommended specs so he knows also that he normally is just quaranteet to play on standard settings. and as he is a smart guy he played evo not with 2500m viewrange but 1000m with 800m objectdistance, because he know of the weakness of the phenom 2. i know a screenshot would proof ist but i´m afraid i don´t get him in this disagreement of you and me. one last thing to the amd fx: if you have heavy fp load on a fx the effectice core number shrinks to half because the complex fp unit is shared by 2 integer cores, so a fx6300 is under heavy fp load just a triple core processor, and wih that you don´t even match recommended specs. @ white: with a proberly hosted server and you with right settings(for heavy fighting set particles quality lower, and all the rest i already mentioned) will get constant at least 40fps. your x6 processor , maybe 1100t, i recommend you too to oc your uncore clock max possible, because it´s the weakspot of any amd these days. may you all please realize that you can´t play everything on max with budget hardware. i played ofp on pentium 3 and regret it even today, i played arma 1 on pentium 4 first and it was horrible. played and hosted arma 2 on phenom 2 x2 550, and is was just pain. with arma 2 arrowhead i got i7 2600k(as 2600k just was released) and it runs like charm, if i hadn´t roasted my 2600k i would even have it today and would have had a fast cpu for over 2 years. and arma 3 alpha runs alot faster than arma 2 arrowhead. hosting a local game with 150bots+at least 14 players in arma 2? not even thinkable with more than 15fps, and now 60-80fps no problem.

    General Discussion (dev branch)

the ebr zeros perfekt up to 300m if you set it to 800m, then it alings perfect with the ironsight for short ranges, if you want to shoot any further, go upside down^^

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

well sixgears2 i don´t know your pc specs, but all of my arma 3 group can easely play in urban enviroments with ultra settings, including myself. settings to low just is usefull for pvp/tvt, as every frame counts there. in coop when playing on a well hosted server at 50fps constantly(my^^) you are able to play at frame rates from 50-120fps. and you wont believe it but at all player on my server the gpu is at 100% load and cpu at around 70-90%. last dev updates fixed the main engines problems: physx was fucked up and pip also, all fixed now. slowest rigs of my group: i7 920+gtx 560ti and the slowest phenom2 x4 955+ 5850(both non oc) fastest rigs: i7 2700k at at least 4ghz+ 7970(5 rigs) my rig: i7 2700k@ 4,6ghz+7970 and 2133RAM, hosting dedi and client on same machine, or even host local. i mean sixgears2, i can host locally evomission with high enemy count, fps dropping to around 45. that wasn´t even thinkable in arma 2 or even arma 1, so if your game buckles at urban enviroment, your rig must be slower than phenom2 x4 955 and 5850, or you can´t set up your settings right. posting the settings of the phenom rig asap after i have the possibility to ask the owner of it.

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

one major aspect isthat the cpu frontend must have high capabilities, and for example the amd fx does not have that capabilities and catched up with piledriver to the first i generation from intel. an i3 processor is as fast as the fx4300 and fx6300 in arma 3, and town and airport are cpu heavy. to get on ultra decent fps you have to extremly overclock or use a ivybridge i7 cpu from intel. i choosed overclocking, so my 2700k i7 runs with 4,6ghz, this is the only way to get fps at around 50-60fps on ultra everything maxed out exept 3d resolution(1080p) here is what u get on high and ultra quality, all amd processor users should set objekt detail to low and pip off to get rid of the cpu bottleneck before complaining. http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2306247 even i set objects quality low and pip off to get decent pvp ready ~100fps. @JoSchaap: the RAM you use is too slow to support the cpu and gpu with data, this and the 7850 will slow you down most, i´ve got 300mhz less, ht is off, but 7970 and 2133mhz(1066real-> you 667 real)RAM push my firestrike score to 8250points, without ocing the 7970. so its about optimizing the system and not just one part good and rest meeh. just my humble opinion

jep, non dev runs fine with 2.9 after respawn pictures of r3f weapons disappear, but no real bug, just cosmetics. a good thing is that with pgm or with minimi you are not able to take extra rocket launcher, quite more realistic than the mk200sd+ alamut+10 rockets and 3 satchels rambo soldiers often running around.

MP COOP GITS EVOLUTION - main thread

ensure that the server is at at least 30fps, set client sided with the "u" menu viewrange 800m and gras off, pip off and object detail very low, should run like hell if the pc is not older than 2 years. but thats all tweaking basics. also dev build fasten things extremly up due to various physx fixes, but screws up not optimized 2.7 versions gear menu. 2.8 runs well but don´t run on dedi, otherwise for small groups and at least 4.5ghz sandy/ ivybridge you can host it locally. this way i got with 14 people locally hosted avg 50fps, even set viewdistance to 1300m. mfg latest 0.55 dev fucks things up in 2.7 and 2.8, at least for me. ctd if taking different weapon.

want to report that latest dev version makes 2.8 quite enjoyable, many physx bugs are gone, more scripts working and so on, runs like a charm. and 24 guys are saying the same, got great feedback. even run a test round with nlaw spam and no crash so far, but we played without respawn. testing tomorrow with respawn and maybe the dev build fixed this mission :) or do you uploaded fixed 2.8 version without saying something eggbeast?^^

MP COOP GITS EVOLUTION - main thread

enemy count was on very low with respawn off, just a test run, and slowdowns from avg 80fps to 5fps for just a couple of seconds only at a specific space tells me its not ai related, or is the ai script related to the airfield? i don´t think so ^^. hope bis gets all the physx stuff fixed, it spams rpt to hell when playing missions with custom placed buildings.
