Are they just text files and do they require any kind of header?
I learned Pascal many, many years ago and the script language seems similar, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it, but I'm a little confused about the SQS files in particular.
Also, where do I put them? In with the missions, or do they have a special folder? (This is on windows 7 with UAC off, btw).

You don't need to use Y-axis invert. Just go to aircraft control and switch the mouse axis (and/or joystick axis) mappings for Nose Up and Nose Down. The main thing about controlling aircraft (and vehicles) is to use the keyboard for primary control (rough) and the mouse for correction (fine). It's kind of like fighting yourself, but it's the only way to get responsive control. Also, you need to keep momentum in mind when making any type of turn. It takes a while to get used to, but once you know what to expect, you'll be complaining about it being too easy to control.
Thanks, I missed that when I looked through the controls.
I've been flying helis since Gunship on the spectrum, so I'm kinda ok with them (although I'm still getting used to Arma's helis), but I used to fly the helis regularly in BF:V and the BF:1942 vietnam mod that preceded it, even to the point where I was one of the regular ferry pilots on the server I played on.
The point I fall down is where I'm worrying about pointing weapons at the target - I make a much better huey or blackhawk pilot than I do a cobra pilot... unless someone wants me to use the rockets on the venom...

I would ask for a seperate mouse Y-axis reverse for aircraft - unless I missed it. Trying to do the training on the helos, I had to reverse the Y-axis and then cancel it after the session... in a mission or playing online, I don't think I'd ever be able to fly the way things are...

36 here too... and an old Combat veteran on the Atari 2600 :)

I use it - I can receive incoming Xfire messages, thanks to my G15 keyboard with it's LCD, but I don't think I can send (I tend not to anyhow when playing).
Can you join servers through Xfire, or do you need to do it in-game?

Hi, just got the game last week and I'm loving it... just about the first thing I did was make a battle and perched on a hill to watch it and my jaw hit the desk at the AI's behaviour - I could have sworn they were real players, so good job guys.
One question though...
What would people say is the minimum bandwidth needed for hosting a decent-sized game and what would you recommend as the hardware to run it?
I suspect my bandwidth will be the weakest link, sadly.
The computer I was thinking of using is running Vista 64, 2Gb RAM and has a dual-core 2.4 processor - it's currently running as a media PC, but it is sitting next to my gaming PC and not doing anything other than recording the occasional program most of the time...
Can anyone help?
Also, does Arma2 actually have a maximum number of players? I suspect I'll never hit it, but I'm curious.
Edit: Just noticed the Multiplayer section, any kind mod care to move it down there for me?

What has this got to do with the topic? ***
Why does every question about a console have a poster going on why the PC is better?

How about we keep this one ontopic.
As someone who's been on the Modern Warfare 2 forums, you have my sympathy - the situation over there is the reverse of the one you guys are facing, in that the PC version has been released, but is crippled compared to CoD4 (we think they rushed it out), but we've had XBOX guys coming in and causing trouble where they're not wanted, so I feel your pain guys.
Personally, I hate the whole computer gaming divide... but there are some on both sides who like to cause trouble and I think it hurts all of us in the long term.
I hope they manage something for you guys, but 512Mb of RAM is a bit small to try to fit anything like the size of the PC version into, but I hope for you guys, they manage something decent all the same. Maybe they'll be cutting the maps up into small chunks for you guys to make it easier, who knows?

Hi, I've only just got the game, but I have suffered problems in boot camp both before and after the patch (I played it while the patch was downloading) where you just stand still and can't move - mainly on the medical section, but also elsewhere.
I also had a problem where I ran the assault course but it wouldn't acknowledge that I'd finished it even though I was nose to nose with the instructor after he told me to run back. I think that might have been before applying the patch though.
Failing that, I've been impressed with Arma 2 and I'm glad we still have developers out there who care about their fanbase (I bought OpFp:DR, thinking it was the sequel to the first game which I'd heard good things about... which it isn't).
Can someone just quickly point out how to use SQS and SQF files?
