    heres 3 suggestions that might improve arma2 alot

    1: make it so you can see people in the distance as easy with post processing on as it is when its off i really like post processing effects on trees and foliage especially upclose rather than looking pixilated they look more realistic but if it were possible to reduce the effect of the post processing as the image gets futher away from you i think it would keep it from bluring up in the background so much making it easier to distiguish enemy soldiers from forrest and otherthings as it stands i turn post processing off completly so i can see everything clearly.

    2. I heard that this game doesnt utilise quadcore processors and you will never have close to a full load on all 4 cores more like half on each of the 4 if thats true it would be good to make it more efficient the use of quads.

    3. The game doesnt use more than 2gb of ram becuase it was developed for 32bit operating systems so those of us with 4gb or more have resorted to using third party software like ramdisk to get better performance with armaII which i can say has made a huge difference in my gameplay for me from alot of pop in to pretty much none thats noticable.

    Not complaining since arma has come along way, and im sure its going to be improved on more.

    I found a few beta patches after the 1.04 patch Arma2 started running alot better on my pc almost perfect i was finally content it pretty much ran the same as it had previously with a big overclock on my quadcore q9550, then i feel like acouple beta patches after the improved performance started going down again but not as bad as it orginally was ive had to drop my draw distance from around 6 running smooth to 4 still slightly lagged (I need a decent draw distance becuase i fly choppers) so as far as im concerned you guys are right in saying performance has dropped some i guess the people who havnt had any drop are truly lucky somehow. Ill dream abit and hope it has something to do with a slight version mismatch between server and me and with the next official patch release everyone is sorted.

    Can anyone help me? I updated Ace correctly and the version.txt file says I´ve got 185, however when I join a server it still detects it as version 182.

    server version is probably 182 and you have 185 meaning the server is running an older version and needs to update i wanted to play on my favourite server tonight and it said "server 0.1.182, Client 185. update your ace2" it looks like a generic standard msg people recieve with conflicting versions to the server just in our case the server is in fact in need of an update.

    If anyone knows how to fix it so i can play on the server or if im on the wrong track let me know please.

    if a woman comes in here and wants there to be female characters then we will see theres a demand for it.

    I realise this is off topic but noone ive asked knows what to do and i cant find anything online about it and i didnt want to start a new thread. In multiplayer im playing carrier sealz and im an engineer i fixed a chopper and cant fix anything till i go back to base and get more enginner points or something i ran around for a few hours trying out what i thought would be the most obvious things and nothing i tried worked could someone please tell me what i need to do.

    Some of you guys make argumentative comments for no good reason, Total made a relevent statment and comparison that a player like myself agrees with to an extent, although some people just cant handle this level of gaming yet and will inevitably cross over to it down the track. I evolved from doom through a big range range of games including counterstrike and golden eye trying to find something new to enjoy and something that takes 1st person shoot em ups to the next and now find myself playing Arma II Obviously COD4 and MW2 are great games but their basically the same thing and im almost over that kind of run and gun type action MW2 is COD4 with better graphics and acouple or extra maps in my opinion, the engine is very good for that kind of game and the hitbox seems perfect but the maps become repetative to quickly & these days i preffer larger maps especially after playing battlefield 2, some people like small maps and the run and gun aspect of Modern warfare but i definatly have evolved to preffer the strategy of arma II and i see these kind of games being the future of war games and where the biggest money in development in the genre is spent ,where you have strategy aspect handled by commanders and different roles handled by people who like those different aspects abit of something for everyone. TOTAL I can definatly see how older guys with more patience can benifit in a game like arma2 over a young guy trying to run and gun without scoping a situation out.

    gunterlund i had that same problem with my old 8800, i gave up on it and bought a 285gtx and then i would crash to desktop every 5 minutes instead but now them problems have been ironed out in the latest beta patches but last night I copped a blue screen of death lol hopfully it isnt a frequent thing.

    Some new nvidia drivers available as of 26th of november 2009 "195.62whql" might be good.

    i didnt like the thought of using beta patches but its painless and you will get more out of arma 2 if you use the latest patch, theres a big difference in gameplay for me since the last official patch release, is this the site you tried for the latest beta patch http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php.

    I might get a few micro stutters with windows 7 64bit i thought it might be internet lag but i shouldnt have lag my adsl2 connection seems pretty quick, i run 8gb ram with just under 4 as a ramdisk i also have a quad core cpu (q9550) and a 285gtx maybee i should try the -cpucount=4 see what thats like.

    BTW with the last couple of beta patches im getting the same performance i used to when i overclocked my 2.83ghz quad to 3.8ghz so im happy i can run my cpu at standard clock and enjoy the game, arma II is definatly improving Excellent work BIS.

    ive got a core 2 quad q9550 on a pretty old motherboard a ga-p35-s3 that didnt originally support this cpu till a later patch came out, i also have 8gb of ddr2 1100 ram and i dont think the board supports the ram properly, i think my mb is pcie 1.0 too and i have a 285gtx 2gb ive been looking at buying a new mb becuase i overclock and put the vcore up quite abit the highest multiplier i can do is 8.5 on this mb whats a good mb to get a bigger fsb multiplier for my cpu.

    what do you think of a GA-EP45-UD3L

    i was just playing modern warfare 2 :) its really good. There is a scene where you act as a terrorist going through an airport slaughtering hundreds if not more. before the game started their was a warning this game has some bad violence or something do you want to cut some missions out i said no and i said dont ask me again to the second question.

    i used to work in a gameshop and when they cut out and ban contents of grand theft auto 3 the sales went through the roof, copies that were floating around before the ban were selling for over double the price on ebay, original unban australian copies of that game are still worth more than imports and edited versions becuase its rarer. I cant count the amount of people ive heard who went as far as importing it from other countries like new zeland becuase they couldnt get their hands on the original australian version i still see new zealand versions sitting in second hand bargain bins in games shops, banning something somewhere is a waste of time when almost everyone wants it and has access to the internet, it will just up the demand for it in most cases becuase peoples dont want chopped up versions of a game even though the only difference i was hearing about from customers in a game like gta3 was you couldnt get your money back by shooting the prostitutes after using there services, which most people would probably only do once or twice as a joke then move on becuase there is no reward in it, i never did that personally but id still like the original uncut over the cut version.

    Manhunt made it past censors here only to be ban later becuase of extreme violence and it became more popular after its ban becuase of the publicity we had alot of people enquiring about it and repeat customers telling me how they finally got their copy off ebay or from another site online.

    i read something the other day where they were saying here in australia they are considering a ban on modern warfare 2 becuase there is a mission where you play as a terrorist and you have to kill innocent people in it im sure alot of people who have preordered are going to get the shits if they pull that 1 off the shelf including myself as an adult id like the government to show me enough respect as to let me buy an adult rated game without their banning it from me especially when i see a clear contradiction between movies books and games, how many movies have detailed accounts of terrorist activities that have been funded by the government they can send you off to war to be killed, or bomb the shit out civilians including old people , women and children to then tell us were not allowed to play something in a video game.

    as for child civilians in arma II walking around towns and stuff its not like they would be programming in that a kid needs to pull out a pistol on you and your forced to shoot him to survive or that you need to use a crow bar to bash it.

    what stopping these evil kids from making a snuff video with arma 2 calling it arma II snuff and uploading it to youtube or raping a woman in game and shooting her infront of her husband? how about rounding a village up into a church and raping the women on the alter? or getting the priest to have sex with an old woman or even men? or even the alsations raping women or priests or rabbits or cows or whatever people can think of THEY DONT and if they do its obvious they have a sick sense of humour or some real problems and the game creators cant be responsible. your fear of kids in this game is your problem in my opinion not shared by most people becuase we arnt playing this game to have some perverted or sick type of experience. Like most people who play this game i want the best most authentic war experience otherwise id play operation flashpoint dragon rising or battlefield heroes or halo or something. you guys are not making good points in my opinion your just like a mothersclub meeting coming up with bullshit.

    dont sit at your computer shooting anything sell the game goto church repent for your participation in arma II and shut the fuck up

    its made by the same company that make arma II its been released for awhile so your past present and future thing isnt as clever as you thought it was going to sound.

    I still think having some kids in the towns and stuff with the other civilians would add to the games dynamics and realism and make you think more about how you approach the missions but i guess it might be risky adding them to arma II cuase vilas owns it and he might be corrupted and using his modding skills somehow rape a kid ingame and clutch a cross and need to read the bible and goto confession about what sort of crazy shit it makes his fragile stupid mind do.

    i have kids they shouldnt be allowed in a milsim cuase its a milsim shit after all dont you know milsims never have kids in them unless your willing to pay $1500 or join the army you moron

    i have a father so men shouldnt be allowed in a milsim either cuase its a milsim not something the public should be playing

    i also have pets and like beef so animals shouldnt be in a MILSIM you know milsims hey they military simulations so why do we need cows and chickens and birds so i think they shouldnt be allowed

    i also love machinery i thought about building some and being an engineer so im offended when i see them being blow skyhigh even in a game so ban them too cuase it breaks my heart to see them in milsims

    lets ban violence in videogames all together even though its for adults cuase adults cant be responsible and a few might toss off over something in the game so lets ban that or take out the guns maybee we can throw rainbows at each other and hit the flaw laughing uncontrollably

    god might be offended at us trying to replicate his beautiful world so maybee to be on the safe side ban any representations on reality

    the guy on the cover of the game looks abit too angry lets paint a clown face on him just incase a kid sees it.
