I've just downloaded and have been playing the Duala version of this mission and am loving it so far. I play with a couple of mods, JTD fire/smoke and the Zeus AI mod ( I last longer that way ). Some of the firefights have been truly epic. Great work :).

From what i've just heard, Sion spat out his dummy after all the negative posts regarding himself and Helios ( Ian ) got an arse kicking from Sion and higher ups to do something about it. Templar escaped by the skin of his teeth only because he is virtually keeping the community alive on his own, but he won't be given many ( if any ) further chances. nice...

I saw these vids quite sometime ago and was convinced DR was going to be a great game. After release I thought "Wow these guys ( Lenton and his cronies ) are full of shit", now knowing what I know, I can catagorically state that Lenton and his cronies are indeed full of shit.I find it funny that people are still hanging on over in the CM forums as the game is obviously dieing ( console versions now bargain bin prices on amazon and play ) with some guys stating it's possible to get a good "server" if you hang around for 30 mins or so and they think that is a good thing. I find the whole debacle quite hilarious.

I love Ween, fantastic band, great musicians and writers.Other bands on my current playlist are Clutch ( a bloody great rock band ), Nicklecreek ( bluegrassey, great writers and players ). Other bands that never leave my playlist are Pink Floyd ( Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and my fave floyd album, Animals ), Led Zep ( just about everything they have ever done, I love ), Roy Harper ( just brilliant ), King Crimson ( 3 of a Perfect Pair ). Did I mention I love Ween?

vgchartz only provide estimates based on data from a few big retailers with the rest a projection. They do not reflect real over the counter sales or for that matter if those original buyers are still playing the game. They are useful for spotting trends, but the data regarding units shipped will be way out from the real over the counter sales.

It would be interesting to see how many people are actually playing the game at this point after release on all platforms and is that 20,000 copies to distribution or over the counter sales. I suspect the former.I was chatting to someone who works for a major Xbox mag earlier on this evening and he mentioned he'd be suprised if anyone bothered with further dlc for the game as playing numbers have dwindled significantly and with some big game titles on the horizon it could well be that DR ( or rather Lenton ) has missed the boat. DR isn't a bad game, but it has some major flaws and I think one of the main reasons for much of the vitriolic comments and hostility towards the game is the way it's been marketed, especially to the OPF1 and pc fanbase.

Indeed it is embarassing when people come out with rubbish like the comment about menus.I had high hopes for DR and it could have been a great game which would have added a little competition to the mil sim niche, but there are just too many things wrong with the game that hardly bring it up to a mediocre standard. One good thing to come out this though, is that's it's made me realise how good Arma2 actually is and is now my most played game ( including messing about in the editor ) by far.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Janxy replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
That's great. I'm glad you got it performing to a playble level . Btw I'm using the catalyst 9.11 driver atm. I'll prolly update to 9.12 later on in the week. Did you patch the game to 1.05? The last patch gave me a perceived significant boost in overall performance. -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
Janxy replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have an i7 920, 6Gb ram, Windows 7 ( 32 and 64 bit versions ) and an ATI 4890 1Gb. Arma2 runs absolutely fine for me, even in Chernogorsk. I'll check my graphics settings and post them here shortly. Have you made sure all of your drivers are up to date and the latest 1.05 patch installed. Also defragging the drive that the game is installed will help loads with the streaming performance. What graphics settings are you using? Is the game installed on the same drive as windows? My Graphics settings: Interface Resolution - 1680 x 1050 3D Resolution - 1680 x 1050 ViewDistance - 5122km Texture Detail - Normal Video Memory - Very High Anisotropic Filtering - Normal Antialiasing - Normal Terrain Detail - Normal Objects Detail - Very High Shadow Detail - Very High Postprocessing - Disabled Hope this helps -
Thanx for the feedback Nettrucker, it's always nice to get feedback good or bad :). I particuarly enjoyed "Twilight Zone" and "Voices" from your ep. Great Frippesque rhythm guitar on Twilight. Great hard rock beat and feel on voices, lovely vocal and bv's on both. I've also enjoyed listening to Lychesis ( great combination of modern metal with a prog rock feel ), Binkowski ( it brought back memories of my father taking me to see Scots pipe bands ( my family being Scot's n all ). I love that crunch in the chest that a troupe of snare players give you when they march past and found myself nodding my head to the drumbreak video :)), Balschoiw ( Loved Indian Raga Rumble ) and Vilas's stuff ( that's a real dark unusual music technique you have there ( from your first link ), loved it ). Threads like this just show how many talented people there are out there and it's not all Pop Idol or X factor.

Hi ( listening to Nettrucker's stuff as i type and will be checking the other links out. I love real music) I write, play ( guitar, vocals, percussion, a little piano and cello ( though I don't own one atm ) ) and record with a few friends. Our stuff can be found here ( www.albongo.co.uk ). The website is nothing special, purely a platform on which to distribute our tunes to whomever wants to listen. A couple of us have done this professionally in the past, though have long since moved into other professions to pay the bills :), these days writing and recording for our own pleasure and sanity. :bounce3: We all have families and work or run businesses, so we only really get Saturday afternoons ( in one of my spare rooms on a little home studio setup (Cubase SX3, Maudio 1010lt, Spirit F1 desk, Samson amp, Tannoy Reveal monitors + various instruments ) and maybe the odd evening to get any music done, so things may be a bit rough in places. If you stop by to have a listen, I hope you enjoy it. And if you do enjoy it feel free to pass on the mp3's :)

Wow, it looks great. I'm a long time fan of IL2 ( a game I still play today ) and will definitely be buying this.

Indeed Luhgnut, it's nice to see some info from someone who clearly knows what he's talking about. I would however like to hear Templars take on this too. As for the deadly AI, arn't there mods out there that tone the AI down?

Maybe they are waiting to see how deep the hole will get that he is digging for himself.

You asked for it really as soon as you lost your objectivity and let your ego grow out of control and now it looks like you've been exposed before your peers over on the CM forums... Sad really as you seem like someone with a bit of talent for mission design and scripting which if you applied to Arma2 I think you could come up with something quite good, but you let your judgement be clouded by your 15 minutes of fame.

He's had a full 2 days playing Arma2 ( "I purchased ARMA2 played that for about 2 days before shelfing it too for various reasons" ) AND he's made a mission for OPFDR, of course he's a guru.

It's one of the fastest game deaths i've seen for quite a while. Fan sites are dieing or already closed and the main forums only need a visit once every couple of weeks as nothing much happens on there either.

Something I find rather annoying about DR is that I seem to "mince" around. The whole first person view just seems to "mince". And the scaling ( first person ( or camera ) object to world size ) seems weird. It's like the island is a certain size but I feel overly small in comparison. Is that an FOV issue?

Those who can, do. Those who can't, complain. I guess sadly, you fall into the latter.

It seems the PC multiplay for Dragon will now slowly ( or no so slowly as the case may be ) die. Sion Lenton ( the exec producer of the game ) announced last night that there are NO Dedicated servers in development. The current state of online play is terrible with bad hit registration ( I can empty a pistol into someones chest at point blank range and it has no effect whatsoever ) and will now remain that way. Codemasters have just shafted the entire OPF2 ( sic ) Mil Sim community in one fell swoop. Online DR will now die on the PC. Roll on Arrowhead.
