Why is this game not more popular?
Whiskey_Tango replied to LockDOwn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Consoles are a big reason there isnt more as well. Console games are so limited and they have the market tricked into thinking that its the next best thing. The ones that know there is better gaming out there believe the pc community are elitist and believe that your constantly upgrading. Then others believe that kb/m is inferior to a gamepad in terms of movement not aiming. Until consoles get strong enough to rival a pc in terms of power and feature (never gonna happen) the games in general will decline and the player base will be what it is. -
snipers will become even more useless on hardcore servers, its bad enough that they dont spot which is their sole purpose on reg servers with the spot indicators...IMO the snipers should just be removed from the game, leave recon class with binoculars and an assault rifle
-
I believe they will be shutting down the forums soon and cutting all ties with the game in an effort hoping that people will forget the almighty ass rape they got from cm. Ya know, just like a murderer sterilizing a crime scene.

this topic will never die, arma 20 will be out and everyone will still be bashing and laughing it up

Everyone talks about big money marketing comparing to MS, EA, etc... If BIS had the money to advertise like that they would have a much larger dev team as well. That in turn would lead to a polished release without alot of the bugs that turn potential customers away. At the same time its a double edged sword, big bucks on developing and marketing leads to needing big profits and honestly i cant see enough customers out there to warrant it. Steep learning curve and a slow pace turns alot of gamers away and games end up getting dumbed down either through greedy investors or just plain needing to sell more to cover the expenses. -
http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/ Go there and read up some if you decide to get the game. This is not a game for everyone and it does have a steep learning curve, however once you have become accustomed to the controls and know whats going on it is extremely rewarding.

Is BI ever going to do anything about the voices?
Whiskey_Tango replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Whats bad is when you fire the game up to show someone and they are all into the graphics, scenery, watching the individual parts on the heli's rotor assembly and then the talking starts..its rather embarrassing The voice work just doesnt seem right for a game with such a high degree of graphical polish w/ minute details. I could understand if the game was about as graphical as goldeneye on nintendo 64. ACE mod is definately the way around it for now. -
It would end up being a beefed up version of what the original flashpoint was because bohemia would be behind it, "but" its not going to happen because the xbox just cant handle it...crossfire like 6 of them together somehow and maybe it could happen then lol

the AA is the big performance killer, cut that off and moderate pc's can run pretty well... -
So you have to put make believe idiotic things into a game to make money now? I am positive that they would make more money if it was simple and to the point like the old ghost recons were....even rainbow 6 vegas wasnt too over the top and it sold well on consoles because it was simple
-
the thing i hated about mass effect run was earlier in the game you spend way too much time running from point a to point b.....like 95% of the earlier missions was spent going to talk to so and so then go all the way back and talk to someone else.....other than that it was a good game
-
cant argue with logic :)
-
the bad thing is that if a once great title ever goes back to its roots after alienating its communities release after release is that noone will still be around to care
-
wonder why that was?.. ........ oh nevermind
-
wow..you pointed out the obvious

if its russian and made for their army i cant see it not ending up in the hands of the general public....history has a tenancy to repeat itself
-
i believe they are undercover cm employees.....cm probably hired one of those telemarketing type firms over in india or something to stay on there pushing their weak ass propaganda
-
oh boy...i had almost forgotten about that...no crosshairs for your sniper rifle, no problem
-
thats exactly how i see it...it is a fun game and unless your playing it nonstop all the time the flaws wont bother you...jump on for a few rounds, blow some shit up, bring buildings down on people camping health packs, steal some apaches and rape them to no end...when you get bored with it jump on a2 or whatever else floats your boat

the front sight post still stays perfectly still...just because the rear sight is moving around doesn't make it better, it just looks tacky....cm must have spent a substantial amount of their ill gotten gains to have that guy so stuck on that abomination of a game..if that isnt the case then the guy is just a tool..
