    Sad news for everyone who was fan/supporter of our mod. Last two weeks, thanks to storms over Poland, PCs of Bielow, Miho and mine (so "core" team of the mod) broke down. We lost almost all material we were working on - textures, models, text-files, and reference sources (official, non-secret instructions of Polish Army), not to mention O2 and Buldozer. We still have alpha versions of our addons (the ones you can see on screenshots), some objects for maps and music from Bielow and G44. Rest of the mod we need to make from scratch. Of course we don't surrender - we will fight to the end, just like Polish and Bulgarian soldiers in City Hall, but we're forced to postpone any releases from our mod. Karbala 2004 Mod team

    Of course our mod won't be "only" siege of Karbala. To make this we'd only made 6-7 types of weapon, soldiers (PL, BUL, and as Sadr terrorists), 3-4 cars (Honker, Bulgarian BRDM and 2 pick-ups for rebels). But we want to include more stuff, that's why we've decided to postpone demo release date. If things will turn out good, in demo you'll see everything we wanted to have some time ago in our final release (minus campaign and Karabala center map). And we've never said that our "final release" will be definately "final" - we have some ideas of what could happen after 1.0 ;) But you'll have wait... Vilas weapons are very good indeed, but we want to change textures, and it looks like that we'll be forced to do so, because Vilas said that he borrowed some textures (some parts of AK, that he used in almost every model) from other mod, and after release they decided to cancel Vilas' permission - that's why he decided to delete mirrors of this pack.

    @G44 - I'll sent you a PM @Nimravus - because our mod will be total conversion mod, we can't use "external" addons - every part must be inside. That's why we're using Vilas' weapons, he gave us permission. Some OFPL stuff was released as open-source but not weapons (probably because some parts were given by non-OFPL authors). Vilas is also helping us with converting his ArmA/A2 models to OFP format, so after some changes (reducing polycount), we will be able to use them in OFP. And if you'll look through screenshots, you'll see one already made weapon that is our (OK, with Vilas textures :D).

    OK, another WIP report. We're finishing PKW-I soldiers - at the moment we can say that 75% of equipment is done, although we still need some textures. We're polishing config files for all addons, and we're adding new optics to PWP - but we have problems with binarizing - some models are lost after binarizing... Bielow is working not only on Demo Island but also on maps to final release, objects are being slowly made, and our cooperation with Vilas is getting tighter, big thanks for all his efforts to make Karbala Mod better!

    It's probably some kind of cheap plastic, 'cause this is only a model of new design. Previous prototypes were made from metal, with plastic/polymer parts (taken from Beryl and M4 SOPMOD - pistol grip, stock etc.).

    Which looks like a worse and cheap SCAR :) I can assure that on battlefield look is not important (although newest version is alot nicer than first ones), from what I know there won't be LMG version of ACR, and MSBS can be transformed from basic version to LMG, or sniper rifle, or bullpup (target time is 2-3 minutes to make all changes). So this is big advantage of MSBS. Also this is only technology demonstrator, it won't be fielded, and final weapon derived from MSBS is believed to be ready around 2015, or later. I believe that weapon (called by one military magazine in Poland "Rodon") won't resemble MSBS, just like AR-10 don't resemble M4 SOPMOD. And if somebody will ask "why losing time and money to develope something you can have now? Why won't you buy ACR or SCAR?" - because we can learn new tricks (so in future we won't be forced to buy SCAR if MSBS turns out to be sh*t), and price for final weapon will be smaller than price for SCAR/ACR (costs of transport, customs, training). ACR prototype also wasn't nice! :D

    And now for something completely different... Modułowy System Broni Strzeleckiej 5,56mm (MSBS-5,56) - .303 cal. Modular Weapon System (click photo for full article in Polish). New technology demonstrator developed by WAT (Military Academy of Technology) and FB Radom (Weapon Manufacture in Radom city). Final weapon derived from it is going to replace Beryl and Mini-Beryl assault rifles. Two versions are planned: classic and bullpup, each with various barrel lenghts (photo of short-barreled carbine (205mm)). Rifles will use STANAG cartridges, other are not planned. Main point of the system is modularity - so that weapon could be easily modified to LMG or sniper rifle. All parts (receivers, barrels, stocks, etc.) are fully interchable between any MSBS variant. Also new under-barrel GL will be developed (old Pallad won't do the job). Guns on pictures above are dummies, prototypes of new, more ergonomical design, that will be used as a basis for next stages of development. Development began in December 2007 (first prototype with new thermal-vision scope). After year (December 2008) another prototypes were shown for public for the first time (first shown prototypes (on the non-bullpup version you can see stock from newest Beryl), full article in Polish). After another year (December 2009) first firing prototypes were build, they incorporated a few changes when compared to first dummies, like suppressor acceptance (carbine, bullpup, full article). In May 2010 they were officially presented to army officials (full article) with another upgrades (new pistol grip). Current development of new look of this weapon is going to eliminate all flaws of previous prototypes. After that new weapon will be developed, using this technology demonstrator as a basis.

    From what I've heard, AI still can't pass bridges, there is still 60 meters limit for buildings, no tunnels (Martin did it in OFP - that's why we want this island :D), there is only one big advantage of Arma2 when it comes to island-making: you're not forced to have water on zero level, so you can have lakes in mountains... I also haven't noticed Martin making any island for Arma, maybe he just lost interest in addon-making?

    I think that novadays, everybody have most popular building/object packs (like AGS, 3WX, Mapfact), so number of addons isn't a big problem. Heights of bridges parts may vary depend on your OFP settings, and even on number of addons you're using (I'm having different heights of bridges on Tonal Redux, on the same terrain detail settings, with only Redux, and with other addons). In my case, everything was fine with Strenfould bridge.

    Let me think... Yes? Of course it will have terrorists (and campaign about defending City Hall in Karbala), but it will take time. But if everything will go allright then in mini-demo you'll see first Iraqi rebels. We are still looking for talented 2D and 3D artists, who could help us!     It's still crap! :D Too much stuff was taken from Vilas ;) But in future it will change (at least we should try to make better textures - model are very good). And still I must finish textures for Polish soldiers models, so that we'll be able to add equipment (ATM soldiers look like retextured WW4 - which they are, but they should look like Polish soldiers...). Alleluja i do przodu! :D

    Nice map. In bigger cities it's a bit laggy, but very nice. Maybe you could remove some buildings in cities, and some military facilities? And think about using other Agent Smith's addons - like port buildings pack, so harbours will look nicer than now (with BIS objects).

    Yes? So what will you say about this? Tarpan Honker, normal and ambulance, thanks to Vilas, objects for Karbala map - mine, of course more will come (including Karbala City Hall in final release). Also you can see older screenshots of our mod. Little slow down in work is an effect of my laziness... Sorry. Models for signs were done some time ago (on 17th July models were finished) but I haven't had textures. So I started collecting reference material, then I started making textures for PKW-I soldiers (I haven't finished it), then I started experimenting with configs. And every team-member was waiting for me to finish this. PS. FPDR - new smiley is awesome!

    OK, this was supposed to be a suprise, but now... Internal demo is INTERNAL demo, and you won't see it. But don't worry, in August we'll release Karbala 2004 Mod Mini-Demo that'll include more stuff. Anyway what we've done are weapons (still having some issues with them, weapons on screenshots are done by OFPL, not us), soldiers (3 models - but these are base-models that'll be modified - we're adding more stuff to them) and music. We've also Honker model, but it needs better textures. I can't tell you more, it is still a suprise.     Hi! Recently we've updated Miho's units. Now almost all LODs are done, we have second type of vest (Polish woodland camo - used also in Iraq) and better textures. From now on we'll be adding more equipment on the models - like watches, short sleeves, boonie hats etc. We're also doing P-83 model, first screens of alpha version soon (along with some old WIP screens).     If it's Tu-142 then I'd go with Kh-55. I don't know if Tu-95MS16 can be equipped with free-fall bombs or only missiles, but if it can, and if you can make this plane look like Tu-95, then I'd go with rockets and bombs... It's up to YOU! :)

    Hello! Our site is back, but url has changed. Now it's here: http://www.karbala2004.ubf.pl/. We had little problems with previous one and I decided to "restart" the site. Nevertheless, it's still under construction, but you can already read first WIP report and look at one screenshot of our Polish soldiers (done by Miho). We'll soon post new photos, but Miho must send them to me, or post by himself :) When Wanad and soldiers will be ready, we'll have little suprise for all of you ;)
