  1. Bystrica and Bukovina aren't fictional, they're real districts/provinces of the Czech Republic.

    Nope, they are fictional:).

Or more accurately, there are some regions/towns with same or similar names, but not in the Czech Republic. For example Bukovina is historical region somewhere between Ukraine and Romania, and in Slovakia there are towns like Banská Bystrica or Považská Bystrica...

btw: Czech version of "Bystrica" would be "Bystřice", I guess you would find some villages or small towns with that name, but certainly not a whole region:).

  2. Default is one save slot for the mission. Similar system to the old OFP...nothing wrong about that, especially if you can enable unlimited saving.

I think it might work quite well, given the mission lenght and frequent autosaves. The problem right now is unbalanced difficulty caused by weird AI, annoying damage system and terrible mission design, so saving more often can be usefull. Hopefully they will iron out all the bugs and rough edges, because playing with limited saves is always more tense and atmospheric than having the ability to save your progress all the time.

  3. Oh really? my bad! Hallelujah! Thank the heavens! I though I read on armaholic it would be though... I am going to go and check again. If you are right I take back what I said.

    It was misinterpreted by kotaku:

Španěl said "We're more than happy to assist DayZ in any suitable way and considering the mod's popularity we are committed to do some related work in the next Arma 2 update (1.61).", and they interpreted it as "Španěl says that the developer is actually accommodating DayZ in ArmA II's next update."

Even Karel Mořický mentioned on twitter it is not true:

  4. Well, fans of gospel would probably feel the same about other people's millions of dolars going into some gospel choir or whatever. The same with embroidery fans, pickle preservation fans..I don't think this is any different.

  5. Pay attention to the collimating sights. No red dot/crosshairs are visible.

Unfortunately, they are:/. It's just not that visible on a video, but if you look closely, you can still spot the red circle in the middle of sights...

  6. Well, I guess full body awareness how it's done in BIS games has it's shortcomings as well. Because of the camera FOV and position, all weapons have those funky proportions, that feel kinda "wrong". ACOG scope looks like it's 30cm long, Eotech sights take half of the screen, not talking about those huge thermal sights. I think that classic "floating hands with a gun" approach allows to adjust camera/fov/perspective of gun much better and to be honest, I would happily sacrifice seeing my feet (is it really THAT important?) to see believable weapons and their animations.

I guess I'm the only one with this oppinion though. Looking at E3 presentation I'm pretty sure full body awareness is still there...

  7. It's more "John Rambo fight blind chickens in Alamo".

Well. Let's be honest, if you have ranged weapon in OFP, it's not very different. I just play Resistance campaign and sometimes it feels very similar.

At least when level designer doesn't decide to send me to frontal assault with 6 men against enemy base with 30 men in flat terrain without cover, which is quite usual in Resistance.

  8. I guess You're not talking about ArmA 2? Because that doesn't sound like ArmA 2 case at all...Plus game have its own bugs and flaws. It's nowhere flawless. So don't post BS, kthx ;].

I wasn't talking directly about RR or ArmA. I was talking generaly about approach of this community to necessity of support and patches. I don't think that patches are always something good, I prefer games that don't have patches because they don't need them. That was my point.

btw: I don't have ArmA 2, just ArmA, and I had to use endmission cheats even few years after release and with gigabytes of patches. On the other hand, I play Dragon Rising in 1.0 version without any problem and that famous lack of support doesn't really bother me at all.

  9. The second reason is that I don't support CM's business model. Dropping support immediately tells me everything.

Would you be happier if they released totally bugged game and had to patch it two years to make it playable?

I don't really get why everyone here thinks that patching is actually something good and releasing a flawless game that doesn't need more than 2 patches is bad...

  10. P.S. Perhaps, you're viewing through the lens of consoles, well, I do not own one and maybe, just maybe it is a great game for a console, but you're forgetting what progress is.

So, you post a video from Dragon Rising to prove that you always point your rifle straight in Red River? Lol wut?

I don't have any console either. I just don't think it's cool to bash the game for an issue that is

    1) in 99% of shooters on the market

    2) NOT present in Red River

  11. the sole sight of a loaded rifle being pointed straight always in any situation, and any state of mind like a raging COCK, is enough to send this game where it belongs - to the grave right beside Dragon Rising.

    I don't quite understand...

    1) This is almost in every game, including OFP/ArmA/99% of other shooters

    2) There is an idle mode, you automaticly lower the gun after a while without fight

  12. By the way, these forums are again full of exagerated drama over the game that's been tried by 2% of locals, I'd recommend you to try it instead of bitching here again and again about the game you don't know anything about.

It has it's flaws (retarded script etc. - but it's similar with your idol ArmA), but I think it's quite an improvement over Dragon Rising and quite an entertaining game.
