Processor? ArmA 2 requires at least a quad-core to run decently. A powerful GPU with a weak processor (as in my case) will not run the game well. ;)I have a duel core and it runs 30-35 fps so you don't really need a quad core, just make sure all your other components are good if you don't have a quad core.

You nasty people, you wait until he has ordered the game before you tell him his system will struggle, bad beans.

Hopefully Rockstar has as much heart for this game as BIS has for theirs, because this is a great basis for a game that only can get better and better when they add more features in it. I allready had a moment or two where it all felt a bit lifeless somehow.Well they released an update within the first week of release so there's your answer. :)

I had an idea for a mod which in my opinion is quite cool and would suit TrackIR quite nicely if it's possible. If you have ever played Medal of Honor Airborne then you will know what I mean by leaning up. Say if you are on a xbox you hold the left trigger and move the left analogue to just slightly peek over cover. In ArmA II it's just crouch > stand. There is no in between where you can fine tune to how much you want to look over cover. I hope you understand what I mean :S

Thanks for backing up my point Kavoven, it's a reminder that some good things in life are free, peace out ya'll.

I bought it at 9am today, been playing it since but my brother has kicked me off the Xbox now. It's my favourite game at the moment but the single let down I have found is that there is no trains in multiplayer, but it's only a minor issue.

Good work making the addon nonetheless. Community spirit for you :)
It was only a couple of weeks ago this was reported and then you come through with an addon :D

You guys can count on me to promote this game to the max. I got loads of friends to buy ArmA II and will do for OA, peace.

Make a new ArmA II shortcut but without any command lines in it, so no mods will run (unless you put them directly into your addons folder, which is bad) and test it, if it crashes still, it's nothing to do with mods.

I didn't like Portal, but then again. I don't really like puzzle games, prefer games like erm... I don't know, ArmA II?

Well I haven't payed a penny so far and I've got some decent gear on it. And MehMan, don't judge it before playing it man. The graphics are nice and it runs smooth as hell. They released 2 patches for it so far and everything is working fine in it, from what I've seen so far anyway.

It isn't even a problem any more, I usually get 25-30 fps with the settings on normal, but I just fired up ArmA II now and it set everything to very high, including AA and viewdistance at 2500. And now I get the same fps as before, win win. Thanks anyway bud.

Don't know if anyone is interested in MMORPG games but this one is really cool and fun. It has pretty much the exact same interface as World of Warcraft and a lot of similar gameplay elements, the only difference is.... It's free!
Please don't start bashing me with "WoW sucks" and "It's probably crap because it's free". It is a good game and I recommend trying it out if you are an MMO or RPG fan.
Here's a link where you can sign up and download the client, have fun.

OK, I go into the editor, place my guy somewhere with trees and stuff. I then change my GFX settings to my liking, I get nice visual quality as well as 25-30 fps. Then if I quit the game and go back in my terrain and objects detail has gone back to normal and shadows have disabled themselves, yet AA has put itself to very high along with texture detail, video memory and post-processing effects. What the hell is my computer doing?
I also made sure my arma2.cfg wasn't read only in case my computer was having trouble writing the new values in the .cfg but it's fine. Any ideas what is wrong?

This is just a suggestion for making a ArmA II music video thread. Just to separate the combat videos from the music videos, just an idea.

Erm, I don't have a video to post nor a comment on any other video but I figured out a way to make smoother videos. When in the editor put "setAccTime 0.5;" in your soldiers initialization box so when you're recording it goes slower but smoother. Then when you edit your video put a 2x speed effect to make it be normal speed with a nice fps.

Is there one you use which is good? I don't feel like changing the profile, testing then going back, tweaking then testing etc. Do you have a decent one ready made and tested?
-
I don't like the FOV in ArmA II and was wondering if someone could post a good, realistic FOV setting for me to change in the arma2profile file, thanks in advance.
Oh yeah, I have a 22" monitor running 1680x1050 resolution, just in case that factors into anything.

Even though BIS are a small company they can work within the intimacy of the community and they know who their loyal fans are so they try to give the community as much as they can for there money, great game company.
-
So it's more to do with the game straining your GPU than your actual hardware failing, because I don't want to buy a new GPU anytime soon.
-
I don't really know but it would be good if you could use them for leaning, try it out.
-
Is your game legit and do you have a firewall blocking the game. Also, do you use a Steam version or just normal retail?

Has anyone else noticed that multiplayer, Domination in particular seem to be lacking a huge amount in teamwork. I joined a server just before and everyone was going off on there own and getting killed, then moaning at me because I wasn't reviving them, even though I was under fire and didn't want to risk my life by running out into the road to revive some idiot who has racked up 20 deaths. Has anyone else noticed this or do people just not like being in my team?
Oh and to add to it, I told everyone that we could probably use my squads Teamspeak server and they probably wouldn't mind and the reply was "Can't be bothered, too much effort". Not as much effort as making your way to the main objective ever time you die from the lack of teamwork. It's also annoying that the majority of players seem to go as a pilot just so they can fly around a blackhawk for a while then crash it. If someone wants a test flight, go in the editor.
Graphic settings keep changing themselves.

Hmm, it turned out the view distance wasn't on 2500, it was on 1000 and although AA said very high ingame I checked Nvidia Control Panel and it was overriding the setting to 2x AA, still nice enough though. :)
I've got some duel core cpu, not sure which one to be honest.
Nvidia Geforce 9800gt 2GB
Not sure what motherboard either
Got 2GB RAM.
