Yup yup, I deleted those pbo's and VOILA!!! bada-bing-bada-boom chopper came in zoom zoom!
So I started the airport mission and found 7 things wrong with it so far:
lol, I AM SOOO KIDDING!!!! Its awesome man!
Mission spoiler:
Myself and my designated sniper sneaked into the airbase, took out the patrolling jeep first with silenced weapons, then the two guys patrolling the buildings, then the two emplaced weapons. I then proceeded across the airfield. I left Unit 3 up near the FAV on the hill near where we disembarked to sneak into the airbase. Once myself and Unit two got behind the tank, I ordered Unit three to engage the T-72 with a Javelin. WHile waiting for Unit three to get into position, I scoped the area a bit, next thing I know Unit three spots one soldier near him, then two, then 5... HE WAS AMBUSHED BY A WHOLE SQUAD!!!!! HOW FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!! I was def. not expecting that bro, fine job :) :ok:

Do you think it may have something to do with one of the mods I have implemented?

The "AI_Dr_Mod" is actually called "sakudriver" by Sakura_Chan, a mod intended to improve the AI's driving ability and seems to work rather well in most cases.

I am enjoying playing the mission, but the other squad that my squad inserts with always gets annihilated rather quickly, I find that my main objective is to save their skins from AI stupidity. :)

You are missing out on 90% of content that makes all of Arma's bugs and technical woes not only bearable but ultimately worth it.Modding community is so strong and advanced for this game that BIS feels comfortable releasing half-finished games. Don't deny yourself the fruits of other people's hard work, especially when it's free!
With Arma 2 Launcher, even an untrained chimp can successfully install and activate/deactivate mods within 10 seconds.
I totally agree... Missions with many add-ons deterred me from downloading them as well... at first... But after joining this community and receiving much help and guidance concerning the add-ons, I couldn't possibly see how anyone can really enjoy this game without the add-ons.
I think on page 3 of THIS thread, Red Rage typed out a list of mods that he recommended for the game. I tried out every single one of them, and in turn increased my desire to play this game ten fold. They make the game SOOOOOO much better and add soooo much content. AddOns are where its at.

Waddup Sickness, three times now I've completed the second-to-last objective in Operation Hunted and all three times the chopper has been shot down. When I get the message, I'm not even close to the last objective.
The first time it happened I figured it may have run out of fuel as you suggested so I went through it a bit faster the second go-around. Same thing.
Today I tried yet again (3rd attempt) and went through it faster yet again, and yet again I got the message about the helo.
Please note that I am in no way b!tching and/or moaning. But I was wondering, how would I go about adding another exfil option within the editor? Like throwing a rubber boat somewhere and exfiltrating in that fashion.Or maybe setting a new exfil zone.
I'm totally lovin this campaign though hoss, it is very similar to ol' skool S.O.C.O.M.
I think its awesome that you've made available both the Humvee and the FAV for the mission since I load them both with all the weapons and ammo that will fit in each vehicle (not that I will ever use them all) Once I get to the objective where we have to rescue that guy by the castle, I manually put Unit 2 with a DMR on top of the castle then take Unit three with me. I load out with a shotgun and a tech-9 while Unit 3 is loaded out with that heavy Machine gun (the modded one, Mk Mod 0 or something)He and I flank around the Villa to the South and bring some pain >:) But all three times I've gotten to that point, the chopper gets shot down.
Going to try it again and go through it as fast as I can.
I CANNOT WAIT for your next installment. You say your 50% complete? If theres anything I can do to hurry the release , I'd be happy to help man!

dammit, just before I killed the last target in Operation Hunted, the extraction Helo was shot down!! lol
Should I wait or start the mission over and is there a set amount of time to complete the objectives?
I had a save a little while before I got the message that the helo was shot down, so I reverted to that point a couple of times to see if it was just something random that might have happened but it kept happening.
I did take a long long time in between each objective though, it was dark by the time I got to the last target, :P I play real slow

I had the same problems with the game hanging, I went back and checked to see if I had all the correct commandline parameters and made sure all my mod folders were set up correctly. Sure enough one of my mods was'nt set up correctly, once I fixed those two issues everything was fine.
One problem I have always had is I can never get my soldiers to re-arm themselves, I can never find the command to do so. That being said I'm glad you made a version that makes the other soldiers playable. Now I won't have to kill all the bad guys myself :)
What am I missing? Whenever the AI is controling the squad, they can order soldiers to re-arm at corpses or ammo crates, whenever I am commanding units, I have to load them into a vehicle with weapons already loaded into the vehicle to rearm them, or switch to them to re-arm...

PaperCut mentioned an awesome intro but I get none at all, just the mission map briefing. Anyway, on the first mission I get the boat on to the shore and get myself and two teamates out of the boat but after that they wont follow any orders except to get back into the boat. They wont follow regroup or move orders.I will try to revert tonight and see if that helps.

The only thing I've found is sometimes my squadmates stop following orders and I have to revert. I dont mean like they get stuck on a tree or building edge, on both occasions is was in the open.
So far I've completed the first two objectives, en-route to third!!!

Right before I was called into work I got it working.... unbeleivable.. . I popped open the editor and VOILA!! mercenaries, insurgents, gangtas.. all now available and working then as soon as I got all mods needed for this campaign (which I apologize for the hijacking of this thread) the campaign started up, I was moving my three man squad up to the island.... **RIIIING**RIIIING** Had to go to work :(
But Im going to play now :)

What other mods do you recomend? I mean, theres so many, its like Oblivion, it took me months to get that game to work properly with about 30 mods or so, but I installed and un-installed alot of them because they sucked. Not only that, the Oblivion community was a bunch of a-holes...
I can't beleive I had so many problems getting things to work in Arma, kinda feel bad and stupoid at the same time for wasting peoples time... its soooo easy....
another member on these forums helped me out thru PM's as well by the name of tractor king, the creator of the -TA- missions.

I just tried to "drag and drop" most of the files into their respective locations.
I was under the impression that I had to create a different shortcut for each mod, seeing how you wrote the parameters in the command line really helped out alot.
I was typing in "-mod=beta" before every add-on like so:
-mod=beta @cba -mod=beta @CAA1 etc... all without the ";" in between every addon
thanks for the help, I'll figure it out eventually (hopefully)
But now that I have a clean install, I am NOT going to put these add-ons in my root folder all willy-nilly anymore.

My intentions were not to insult or belittle your campaign Bardosy, I'm VERY new to the whole "ARMA" scene and like I said, I am really enjoying your campaign.
There are a few things that need fixing with the dialogue though as mentioned by Ferrando. But in the same respect I understand that English is not your native language.
Again, if you ever decide to re-work the dialogue, I will surely be happy and grateful to help you out, I'm sure others will as well :)

I tried installing all the add-ons needed for this campaign, but my game wouldn't start...
I had to re-install the enite game.
This time, I'm going to make a copy of the ARMA 2 program files folder.
I'm having difficulty understanding how to install the add-ons with the mod folders.
I'm going to keep trying though, this campaign seems awesome :)

I would absolutely LOVE to try this out, but all those add-ons scare me, the only add-on I've put into Arma 2 is the CAA1 add-on.
It took me several years to understand completely how to install add-ons for SimCity 4 without conflicts. Lost alot of saved games and material in the process.
I've looked around at several different Tutorials on how to install the add-ons, but I get worried when I have to alter the shortcut to make sure everything runs fine.
Which sucks because I'm sure all the missions with many add-ons are quite good :(
**EDIT** Screw it, after re-reading the description... I simply CANNOT pass this up... time to learn me some add-on installage :)

It means dont engage anything until all three leaders are killed. I forgot to add a comma in the sentence. All that is known of the enemies positions/etc is the AA positions and the intel from the defector and Mikhail Sova.
The only thing that worries me is the mission may be somewhat boring while locating the RADAR station. After the RADAR is located, I want the squad to split up into three groups so each team can set up to kill each leader. During that time I think most players-including myself, will just fast forward-save-fast forward.
I was also thinking of how to go about the creation of this mission... would it be in my best interest to create several missions then use the merge function?
Like so:
Mission 1: Locate radar station
Mission 2: Locate and kill Polovitsi
Mission 3: Locate and kill Rankovic
Mission 4: Locate and kill Stolichnaya
Mission 5: Locate the Defector-Assault/Follow convoy
Mission 6: Exfil (I would create a trigger that causes reinforcements {that are way to large for the marines to defeat}to hunt down the marines once detected by the convoy, making the exfil exciting)
So far, all I've created is the Radar station/S.A.M. site complete with sandbag fortifications, bunkers, patrols and searchlights (of which I found and used a searchlight script so they move back and forth)
Then after creating the radar fort, I copied it several times and placed them along the shorelines of Chernarussia on several hill-tops. But this worries me as well, wouldnt all those SAM sites create lots of lag? I have no intentions to create missions to destroy all of those sites, so the player will never see them, but I want to make it realistic, if those sites are not there, then theres no reason NOT to insert the team by chopper...
iono, I think this is too much for me to handle for my first mission. I spent all of last night reading OFPECS beginners tutorial (which I might add is EXTREMELY useful, heres a link)

**This mission takes place three years after Harvest Red**
Operation PaperCut
-------------------
Three years after the liberation of ChernarussiaThe Chedaki has reared its ugly head once again.
Current intel shows the entire Chernarussian coastline is well defended with AA positions dotting the coastline at 500 meter intervals.That being said, prepare to get wet Marines...
There are a plethora of objectives that need accomplishing spanning quite a large area. Since there are so many AA sites you and your team will be inserted Via RIIB in the area that we plan to set up a base of operations once certain objectives are completed by your team.
Your team is the tip of the spear. All of your objectives are to be done as clandestinely as possible and once completed will make retaking the region that much easier later. Your teams actions (if completed) will have serious negative repercussions for the Chedaki.
Objective 1: Locate the RADAR Station

Upon infil, your first objective is to locate the main northern RADAR station in the Olsha area, recon enemy elements and mark its position on your map. You are not to engage the RADAR station since aside from the AA sites, we have virtually no information of what we're up against.
Objective 2: Locating three Chadaki Leaders
-------------------------------------------
During Operation Harvest Red, a force recon team callsign "Razor" on operations near the town of Pusta rescued a man named Dr. Sova from Chedaki insurgents. Later, Razor Team was embarked on Operation Manhattan where they once again met up with Dr. Sova who proceeded to inform Razor Team the location of Chedaki sentry camps that Razor Team was commisioned to locate and destroy.
Even though Dr. Sova didn't agree with the Chedaki in any way, if a Chedaki showed up on his doorstep, being the man he was, he would'nt deny treatment. While speaking with Razor Team, Dr. Sova cut the meeting short after noticing a patient of his peering out of his window watching him talk with the marines. It is beleived that this patient informed Chedaki brass of Dr. Sova's cooperation wityh the marines and radio'ed the situation immediatley to the Chedaki. Within hours of the conversation with Sova, Razor team learned that Krasnostav was attacked shortly after they left. Dr.Sova was killed along with his Wife and Daughter and many other Krasnostavians.
We have recently been contacted by a man claiming to be Sova's son Mikhail. Apparently Mikhail has been working diligently to find out exactly who pulled the strings in the murder of his family. Mikhail was in the United States at the time attending college. Many weeks passed before he found out what happened. Mikhail has also admitted involvement sporadic assaults against the Chedaki and claims to have taken out the two infantry squads responsible for the killing of his family and townsfolk.
Sova says he has information about Chedaki positions, movements and sympathizers: including weapon suppliers, narcotic operations and political figures all supplying the Chedaki with funds, intel and resources to continue their Nazi-like campaign against the Chernarussian native populace.
He knows of three key individuals which need to be captured/killed.
1) Nikoli Polovitsi-Head of the Narcotics Operations.
2) Roman Rankovik-Polovitsi's right-hand man.
3) Boris Stolichnaya-Head of all resource and supply movements.
According to Sova, Polovitsi and Rankovic should be overseeing two seperate Opium Operations. Stolichnaya is expected to be at his residence, if not, Sova assures us he and his cohorts can and will attain their daily schedules.
Objective 3: Gather intel of enemy convoy

Once the three leaders are dispatched, you are to rendezvous with a Chedaki defector using extreme caution. It is not likely that our contact is playing us for fools, but the possibility is always there. The contacts name is Lucious Petrovik, callsign RiverRat.By the time you meet with him he is expected to have the details of Chedaki weapon and supply shipments moving by convoy.
Two things will be accomplished with this objective:
1: The destruction of the convoy (obviously)
2: Uncovering the destination of the convoy.
Uncovering the destination can be done in two ways:
1: Stop the convoy and search/question the Chedaki
2: Follow the convoy to see where it goes.
If at all possible, you should attempt to complete these objectives without drawing any attention, once the three leaders and convoy are annihilated, you may then return to the RADAR station to destroy it as well.
We want you to save the convoy and RADAR station for last since we don't want to spook any of the three targets of assassination.
It is also recomended to take out all three chedaki leaders simultaneously so as not to spook them.

So thats it so far, I'm guessing this is way too much for me to tackle for my first mission creation. I'm also debating on wether or not The player will meet Dr. Sova's son.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :)
Also, is everything I intend to do in this mission possible?

thank you folks so much for the responses, as with most of my experiances with other websites I have to admit I didn't expect any responses at all. and totally expected to be flamed for asking a question that was almost certainly answered elsewhere.

The mission involved with my question is a mission I never plan to upload as I'm creating it just to practice with the editor.
The plan is to use the parking garage that a player starts in during the mission Razor 1, I beleive, in the Harvest Red Campaign.
I want to have a 10-man fire team holed up in the parking garage while being attacked by insurgents from all angles. No intro, outro, breifing or anything along those lines. I know I could physically move them into their respective positions upon the mission starting, but I figured I would use this mission to attempt to get some of the basics down which will be required in the mission I plan to upload entitled "Operation PaperCut"
As a matter of fact, I'm going to post the description of "Operation PaperCut" right now. I already wrote down in my notebook a rough draft of what I want to accomplish.
Now that I know this community actually cares about its members, I'm not worried about wether or not I'm wasting my time by posting my idea.

I made it to the mission "Always Loyal" but every time I order my squad into the chopper, the chopper takes off and promptly crashes into the trees near the starting position. I've tried it several times... I'm thinking of walking to the objective :P
I love the campaign though, you did a great job on it wether voice acting is present or not :)
Any clues as to why the chopper crashes all the time?
!!!(EDIT)!!! Wow.... So right after posting this, I tried it one last time, I ordered my soldiers to immediately get into the chopper right when the mission started and we made it!!!! just barely cleared the trees at the beginning. I didn't notice that anyone else had the same problem as I, but I was reading Mr.Murrays guide and noticed something about setting altitude with choppers, you might want to set the altitude to 120 or something along those lines to make sure the chopper clears the trees every time.
BUT I LOVE THIS CAMPAIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You did such a great job man, very nice work. Like others, I like this campaign more than Harvest Red BY FAR!!!!!!!!
I would be more than happy to help with voice-acting if you ever decide to add to this already brilliant campaign :)

Hello all, this is my first post here regarding help with creating missions for Arma 2.
I have spent the last two days trying to figure out why my units die when I place them within a building.
I downloaded and printed the Arma Editing guide, googled for an answer, searched Armaholics.com and this site as well.
I've tried using scripts attained from the net, I've tried placing the units outsiode of the building then placing waypoints to the desired locations.
When using waypoints, the units do not die, but they also do not go where I would like them.
I've tried the "randombuildingPos" (which kills them)
I know what it means to clutter forums with useless questions which may or may not be already answered.
I really DID NOT want to post about this and I promise I searched.
Also I have read EVERY chapter in Mr.Murrays Arma Editing guide up to chapter 9. I really want5ed to figure this out for myself, I swear... but I'm at the end of my rope, and don't know where else to turn.

I havent gotten to that mission yet but... The man says in the description that he wanted to replicate the kind of feel that SOCOM gave... which is a GAME...
I dont understand why some folks have to jump down others' throats because they created something that doesnt feel quite "real enough" to those folks....
Did you ever think about how the AI act in close quarters combat? In the Harvest Red Razor Two campaign misison, while moving around the city of Chernogorsk, I had lots of troubles moving my Units around by just giving commands. I usually end up controling them myself so they do EXACTLY what I want them to do, which is usually why I take so long playing any mission.
Why dont people just say "Hey, your mission isn't the way I would do it... so... you have to make it the way I like it since I dont want to go through the hassle myself."
Theres nothing wrong with critisizing someone else's work. How about being more constructive about it? Its the mans first campaign for gods sake! Its pretty goddam fun for me

WTF kind of criticism is that? All you did was take a shot at the guy, a cheap one at that.
I've been seein alot of this kind of retoric towards mission creators. I want to create missions myself. But not if I'm going to have to defend what I think is fun. Which is exactly what your insinuating that Sick does... defend his decision pertaining to the mission in question.
Did you find any bugs? other than the ones already mentioned?
most missions can be completed with one soldier anyway. Try it.... Start Harvest Red and leave the rest of your squad behind. I bet you'll get right through it just fine.
I just don't see why anyone would bother making missions if theres a possibility of being ridiculed rather than constructively criticized. Ridicule might be more appropriate for missions that may have content that may or may not be desirable to certain individuals or races... like stereotyping. So save your BS responses for sh*t like that.
