  1. I'm having an issue with loading this. I downloaded all the relevant addons and have them in a specific @campaign folder which I'm loading through the parameters. The campaign shows up in the list, but when I select to play the first mission it just sits there. I waited 5 minutes first time, but no dice. I'm getting no loading screen, no error messages nothing.

    Any suggestions?

For the campaigns folder, you only need to name it "Campaigns" minus the quotes, minus the "@". Campaign"s"

Awesome campaign so far, and I'm only on mission 2 where you lase the planes. Question though, I was trying to find some C4 to steal and killed everyone in the village near the airport. It then said mission completed head to extraction. Got on the heli, it flew around for a minute then stopped and hovered. Nothing happened after that.

I assume its because the planes were not blown up? Can you tell me where the C4 is hidden? :p

There are ammo crates near the hangar, East side of the runway unless I'm mistaken. Make sure you have the latest version of the Campaign as well.

  2. yeah. these missions are suberb. but these are rather for more skilled players than me :( or rather AI is f... silly.

    I stuck near stronghold.

What I did was load out three units with sniper rifles, I set two of them up about 200 meters apart, north of the stronghold in the hills. I set the other sniper up (which was unit 4) inside the barn with the window that is north-west of the stronghold. That sniper in particular, I switched to in order to set him EXACTLY where he needed to be in order to have a line of sight on the enemies on top of the castle stronghold. I then loaded up evryone else into the APC and drove it way south behind the hills and saved it. Then attacked with the APC. Once I had most of the enemies cleared out, I unloaded everyone and cleared everything on foot from there.

Another thing I do is, when I set up each sniper by using move orders, I save it immediately and give the sniper a target then order him to open fire to check that he does actually fire. If he fires, I revert, if he doesn't, I try to move him to a more desirable position. It sucks when you THINK you have everyone set up right, then, when you go to attack, some soldiers don't fire at all because a tree or rock is in the way.

I would rather NOT do it this way, but as everyone knows, the AI isn't very reliable. Again, if anyone has any tips on controlling the AI PLEASE! DONT KEEP IT TO YOURSELVES!!!! It sucks to teamswitch and I know its unrealistic, but I cannot find another way to effectively use my AI teammates.

Hope this works for ya MAX

  3. I agree PAPER CUT, I have played SICK's campaigns more than any other things in the game.;)

Me too, as a matter of fact, Slickness' campaigns are ALL that I play. To add to that, even though the AI teammates piss me off all the time, I endure the aggravation just because the campaigns and content of those campaigns are so well thought out and executed.

Well thank you guys very much for your kind words. I'm currently working on campaign three and it will be out soon.

When I bought Arma 1, I wasn't aware of the mods and addons. Therefore after maybe a week TOPS, the game was uninstalled and proceeded to become excellent at collecting dust in my bookshelf. It was my first foray into the MilSim world in which I had no urge (or patience for that matter) to learn and change my style of play over from the BF series.

Then, a few months ago after getting A2, I went and googled for patches and the like. After doing the search, I ended up with a selection entitled "Armaholic". The rest is history.

Your campaigns are the only reason I even play this game bro.

Very "Slick-tastic" indeed my good man

  4. I don't enjoy switching either, after several attempts I felt I had no choice. The Ai is so useless for situations involving large groups of enemies, at least for me it is. I like to involve them whenever possible and go to great lengths (and many reverts) to do so.

I did however use them very successfully in the mission where you have to destroy the two Anit-Air stations on the coast followed by the airbase.

Particularly the airbase in which I set up Unit 2 with a sniper SD on top of the airport tower building on overwatch, then another in the ZU-23 both watching towards the town, then Unit 4 covering the hangars, while I flushed out the enemies. Worked rather well and I was very satisfied with the results. Then when the choppers came I embarked on the mobile AA truck and along with the Unit in the ZU-23 we took out the choppers, then bounded towards the exfil chopper.

Sometimes (for me) there is no other alternative aside from teamswitching. I would rather teamswitch here and there for difficult circumstances rather then not use the AI at all. During some occasions, dependent upon the map location, there is no possible way to "move order" them to a particular spot. They just won't go to certain spots so I move them to the more desirable positions myself then order them to target/fire.

If anyone has any tips on controlling the AI, please, indulge me.

Today I finished Sun Devil, Deliberate Force, and Silent Guardian. Absolutely enjoyed the hell out of those missions Sickness!!! Especially the beginning of Sun Devil I believe whilst in the chopper. I must have re-played that part several times just for the hell of it. Don't really wanna beat a dead horse here Slick, but you really out-did yourself man. Your campaigns should be shipped with the game. I am finding myself switching back and forth between the two campaigns and playing them both a little bit almost every day

  5. I started 3rd episode... and have really problems to manage the beginning.

After blowing ammo up, I'm waiting for for Alpha team but they are too few to fight against the enemy. They are killed realy fast. My team is not enough to do any pressing. Enemy kill us all in a second even if we prone in 400m distance.

I tried atack with Team Alpha, or wait till they all dead (after half a minute). Have no idea how to go forward. The enemy's quantity is 10 times greater than our.

    best regards.

Heres what I did, Max. I set up all of my team on the hill where the second objective marker is. The trick is to load out your forces with M203's and one sniper with a silenced sniper rifle. Each unit should have 8, 203 grenades.

    1. You want to wait for Alpha Team to draw the enemies attention.

    2. Use the sniper with the silenced rifle to take out ALL of the gunners on the trucks. Take out the GRENADE TRUCK FIRST!!!!!!

3.Manually switch between each unit firing 2-3 grenades each. For example: Unit 1 fires 2 grenades, switch to unit 2, fire 2 grenades and so on. Keep your troops well behind the hill, walk forward, fire grenades, then walk back.

    4. Once you have gone through all of your grenades, switch to the sniper, and start taking out all the officers you can, as soon as the enemy notices you, move to the other side of the hill, rinse and repeat.

    5. Do not, under any circumstance, let the AI control your troops. You must switch to each unit, one at a time. Walk, or crawl up the hill, fire a grenade or two, then walk or crawl back, switch to another unit and do the same thing.

    Good Luck!

  6. Waddup Sickness, just givin ya a headsup about the CAS issue. I ended up taking out the aircraft with Satchmos, wasn't that tough actually. I completed the airbase/stronghold mission (BADASS BTW!!!) and when I got to the HALO drop mission, the first thing I checked was to see if in the breifings support tab if CAS was available in the mission. I was disappointed that it was. (not to be taken the wrong way, if it worked for me I wouldn't have thought twice about it) I started the mission anyway and once I reached the ground I tried it to see if it would work and IT DID!!!! Then, I went back to the mission where I was having troubles and once the chopper dropped me off I tested it to see if it would work, AND IT DID!!!!

I'm going to replay that mission in particular to see if theres something that I am doing that would disable it during the mission. As I go through the misison, I am going to try and use it before and after every objective I complete. That way, if someone else has the same prob I'll have it figured out.

    Friggen weird eh?

Keep truckin Slick, your missions RocK!

  7. I did EXACTLY what you said to do Sick. Down to a "T". When I select the communications tab, there is NOTHING there to select.

After pressing 0 to request airstrike, I press spacebar, then select Communications, There is no "Request Support" option.

If we were to number your pictures 1-5, in picture #4 there is no option. :(

Could it be something to do with the mods?

Also, after I "request airstrike" the message saying "Support requests available; Tactical Airtstrike (CAS) does not appear in the top right corner of the screen.

I've used the CAS ability before in another mission back when I first bought the game.

WAIT!!!! I am using the latest Beta Patch, 857 etc... could that be it? I made a back up of my root Arma 2 folder, maybe I should replace my current root folder with the back-up then re-install the required mods for the campaign.

I don't know what else it could be man. Thanks for trying to help though bro, I "lol'ed" when I seen the pic tutorial you made :D

  8. Heres how I have mine set up horrgakx...

    -nosplash -mod=@+FPS;@CBA;@F.A.V.mod;@FFAA;@JTD;@LHD;@MercUnits;@panthera;@RHM4;@RHPistol;@SLX;@SOW;@ZGB;

You can rename the mods anything you like, I usually just shorten the names so I know what each one is.

Didn't mean to just repeat what you said, Psycho, I was posting at the same time you were

Also, if you use a launcher, you can have different setups. Each one containing different mods for different missions/campaigns so you don't have 50 different shortcuts

  9. Thanks Sick, I'll give it a go

You say Once in the radio, then once in the communications tab, but theres nothing to choose from within the communications tab. I don't understand what I'm missing here bro.

What exactly do I do in the Communications tab? Once I open it, theres nothing to choose from inside it.

I was thinking... Back when I first tried your first campaign, I remember having in my loadout a weird radio that I've never seen before. In my current loadout for campaign 2, mission 2 that radio is not there. Could that be why nothing is showing up in the communications tab? and if so, what mod introduces that radio to the game? I did re-install all the mods, I may have missed something.

After some googling I found out what the radio was called, or at least the acronym for it; SINCGARS is what it was. When I tried your first campaign it was located within my loadout and I didn't know what it was so I googled it to find out. Is that thing missing causing me to not be able to call in the airstrike?

Sorry for bein such a pain in the arse man.

  10. Having probs laser designating the aircraft at the airport in mission 2 bro. I use the radio to call it in then pull out the laser and target the airfield and nothing happens. Is there some sort of confirmation that the strike is going to happen?

Heres a funny thing I did as well, My first run through I made sure to grab the laser off the chopper. Took out the first camp, killed a buncha snipers, found the bodies, made my way over to the ammo stash near the tractor... Whipped out the ol' laser.... FORGOT THE STINKIN BATTERIES!!!!! rofl...

I do in fact have the batteries now. Is there a certain range I need to be in order for the laser to work? I have been trying to target the aircraft from right next to the tractor. Should I get closer? I thought for sure I would get some sort of confirmation from either the brass or the CAS pilots once I requested the strike with the radio. I went over this thread in hopes that someone else had the same problems and noticed that someone was having problems loading mission 3 so its obvious that they got through it. I'm wondering what the hell I did wrong.

Heres the mod list I use for this Campaign, 16 in total:

    FPS mod

    CBA

    AI improved driving mod

All the required mods for this campaign

    Sound of War Mod

    SLX

    ZGB

  11. keep dreaming papercut??? arma 1 was hacked to death

---------- Post added at 02:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 AM ----------

did you play arma 1 papercut???? hacked to death

I bought it and played around with it a little bit, didn't really get into it since it was my first foray in the milsim department.... But your statement is rather disconcerting.

  12. You know what? I'm glad the game isn't mainstream. I've been playing FPS games online for years... From Joint Operations, to the Battlefield series, Call Of Duty, Gears Of War and so on.... I don't play them anymore. Why?

In my opinion, people in general are more concerned with stats. They are concerned with their total headshot count. They are concerned with the amount of dogtags they have. They stat-pad to fulfill their internet ego's. They hack and cheat to achieve the same results.

Arma is different. Again, in my opinion, Arma is wonderful because there is no reason to cheat. Cheating is what deters me from playing all those other games. With Arma, I satisfy myself by accomplishing things in the game that require teamplay.

If this game went completely mainstream and gained the popularity similar to other titles, this community would be no different than the others. People pay upwards of 100$ to cheat in games that, if they took their time, could achieve close to the same results if they just practiced and learned the games. Most other games are only "clean" games for the first year or so, maybe less. When a game is released, the hack are expensive, so the masses that play those games do not have access to hacks at first. But as the games age, the hacks become cheaper and easier to get. Eventually, what you have is at least one cheater in every server. Even if they aren't going 100-1 KDR, there are closet cheaters, the kind of people that join a "No Cheat" clan and cheat right under their so-called friends noses.

In a nutshell, if this game grew beyond the intimate community it now has, most server admins would be stricken with the same problems the admins of those other FPS games have. Being an admin for Joint Operations, the entire Battlefield series and COD series, I spent alot of my time kicking and banning cheaters, going over fraps footage, and battlerecorder footage, checking screenshots etc.... It turned into a fucking job.

Not to mention the limitations of those games. I NEVER play them anymore. I am much happier playing Arma. Theres no drama. Except, well.... take a guess....

Soon, I will start looking for a clan/squad to join with the hopes of meeting new people with the same interests as me in terms of the style of play I'm looking for. The relevance to this last statement should be obvious, but I'll point it out and reiterate nonetheless. in terms of the style of play I'm looking for Every niche is covered with this game, it just might take a little work to find what best suits you as an individual. Theres no reason for BIS to make any limitations whatsoever, when we, the community, can do that ourselves.

  13. When "numpad is mentioned, it describes the area where the key is located.

On the right side of your keyboard you will notice a "numpad" with keys around it such as NumLock, /, *, -, and so on....

    Here is a better example

    NumLock / *

    7 8 9

    4 5 6

    1 2 3

    0 . Enter

I changed my keys around and use the "Enter" key, located within the "NUMPAD AREA" to switch to 3rd person.

I have a mouse that has two extra buttons on it that I use for Tactical view. One buttopn switches to Tactical view while the other zooms the tactical view out.

Those keys also have other functions as well, which may or may not show up on your keyboard.

    7 is also "Home"

    8 is also "up"

    9 is pg "up"

    4 is "left"

    5 is 5

    6 is "right"

    1 is also "End"

    2 is also "down"

    3 is also "Pg Dn"

    0 (Zero) is also "Ins"

. is also "Del" (or delete)

    Hope this helps

  14. I've read dylsexics tutorials about Arma, but that guide is more for MP. Are there any decent guides for controlling the AI? Guides that might offer tips on the proper way to use the AI?

I've tried a couple of searches on my own, I swear I have, I just don't know the proper search criteria to put in the search fields. I've also tried googling but haven't found anything to be particularly useful.

Basically what I'm looking for is some sort of work-around for using the infantry somewhat effectively.

Maybe you should think of updating your campaign as well to put some of them in. They give you a really cool Spec Ops feeling

    ^^^ That would be excellente'

Nevermind, I finally found one, on this site actually, heres the link

  15. I have never gotten as angry at a game as I did today. Not that it had anything to do with your mission though Sick. My teammates just arent doing what I'd like them to do. It seems like the enemy AI are WAY smarter and more accurate than my teammates. Unit 4 (sniper) keeps getting stuck too.

    For example;

I was attacking Arty Bravo, I set up on top of the hill, moved 2 and 4 to the east. They came across the two patrolling guards to the East. Once they were spotted on the map, I ordered them to each attack one of the two soldiers. Watching them on the map, they ran past the enemies then my sniper got killed. They were quite a ways away from the enemy previous to me giving the order. I reverted, this time I ordered them to target the enemies. From what I could tell, 2 and 4 fired a few rounds at them. The enemy then ran away up the hill, I ordered 2 and 4 to pursue them up this hill. My sniper dies again. I reverted then took control of the sniper myself and eliminated the two soldiers, switched back to the leader then ordered 2 and 4 to move into easterly positions around the camp. Same problems over and over.

Again, I LOVE your campaign man, it fucking rocks. But the game itself is just not fun when I have to kill all the enemies myself. The only good my teammates do for me is to draw fire while I kill everyone. Any ideas? I've tried using SLX by itself, I've tried ZGB by itself and both together with no real improvements. I did get to Povlovo and found the squad East of the village in the woods but they keep wiping me out. My teammates won't use cover and if I set them up next to a building for example they won't fire as they do not have a line of sight, and when they DO have a line of sight, they get killed.

oh my god I was so aggravated. dont get me wrong, I tried several different ways to attack each obstacle. The only time I have any real luck is when I order each teammate to target separate enemies, then open fire. If its 4 vs. 4 I'm ok. but 4 vs. 8 means 3 bad guys are killed by my team then I have to kill the other 5 unless I get real lucky. The sniper getting stuck and not following orders drives me batty. When I switch over to him when he's not following orders, he's looking the opposite direction of the enemies through his binoculars... After I move him around a bit he's ok. But it REALLY sucks when I have everyone set up and the sniper doesnt take out the enemy he is supposed to, it ruins the whole attack.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Advice along the grounds of...

WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG??!!

I've read dylsexics tutorials about Arma, but that guide is more for MP. Are there any decent guides for controlling the AI? Guides that might offer tips on the proper way to use the AI?
